    An MPC, or Midi Production Center, was THE tool for hip hop artists in the studio in the 1980s. It fell out of fashion for a while, but now, it's back. The MPC has moved from the studio to the stage and all kinds of performers, from rockers to rappers to classicly trained musicians, are utilizing its beat making abilities. One MC will take us through the MPC transformation, as we see, hear and talk to different kind of musicians, and even non-musicians, who are making this technology the oldest newest trend in music making.

    I love my mpc500 definitely a powerful little machine it doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles of it's older brothers but don't count it out the game it has made me a better artist not just a best maker ! I use my ears to chop samples I would rather manually chop then look at a computer screen ever again much love to all the hip-hop lovers from around the world!

    Akai needs to make a new standalone Mpc. I can't be the only one who thinks the Midi controllers akai is putting out are wack. maybe if there was like an mpc 2000xl re-make that had software connection but could be disconnected from the computer and work standalone It could add a lot of new flavor to the hiphop community these days. Come on AKAI listen to your customers.

      It's the demand of the market. More people are into computer based production these days and controllers are much cheaper to make. I don't think they can really out do the MPC. I love em just the way they are.

      The first time I saw a 2000XL (Hustle and Flow WTT scene) it shocked me the way that they were using it. I only got into sampling quite recently and didn't even know there was such a thing as a device that worked like that.

      what would be the point?why would you need a software connection if you have a 60 ,3000 or 2000 etc?what is there to remake?you can already use mpcs as a midi controller on your computer.and when you dont wanna use the computer you use it as a stand alone...what exactly are you asking for here?

    Check on ebay, there are tons for around $400. The last 2 I personally sold went for $386 and $440. The one that sold for $440 had a 80gb hard drive installed.

    @GanEdenAustralia skrillex bro, he uses an mpc. and i have a friend who makes electronica and techno who also uses an mpc. But the mpc is always given focus when talking about hip-hop because it was the backbone of hip-hop and still is in many ways

    It depends on your budget. You can get an MPC 2000XL or 1000 for around $300 - $400 if you look around. Machine will run between $500 - $600. I own both and I still prefer the MPC but had I not been using the MPC for the last 12 years I would probably go with Maschine.

    da mpc is what started it all! so you figure it out! i got a 2000xl i had a 2500 and now i got a 1000 and they all kick ass but in my opinion the 2000xl feels the best

    I couldn't agree with you anymore! My first beat machine was the mv-8000. It was a great piece of equip, but hardware cost way too much money. Having a mpc or mv means you need sound modules and the list goes on. After finding and discovering the capabilities in what I think is the best DAW period (Ableton Live 8 Suite - lol), I have just sold my mv today! (real talk) Software just allows you to do what a mv or mpc can do...but on steriods!! I'm rocking ableton live 8 suite & mpk61!

    i cant afford an mpc or turntables so thanks to technology, im going to do it the ghetto way, a cheap tablet, a program called Supreme Mpa, a condenser mic and a 1964 no name organ.

    • @eladbrit
      @eladbrit 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly man, it's not a "ghetto" way if you use a tablet or even your laptop. laptops and tablets these days have leaps and bounds better capabilities than an MP. I used to use an MP for a minute, and now I exchanged all my hardware with just my laptop. However I do have drum pads though and a midi keyboard. This thing def looks cool and looks like it does alot, but the MPC pre-recent akai ones are quite limited. It has limited sampling time, simultaneous effects etc.
      Your setup is actually pretty damn legit man and probably crazy more powerful than the MPCs discussed in the video.
      I do miss my 2k at times though haha just for nostalgia sake.

    • @marck.2461
      @marck.2461 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah i totally know what you mean when it comes to the whole technology thing. I mean you dont even need a big studio that cost thousands a day, all you need is your laptop and a good DAW. i would have love to have an mpc though someday but for now the tablet with supreme MPA is working out great, the best fucking app ever. The guy who came out with it modeled it exactly after the MPC so for only $5.00 you get a full drum machine with full sample, effect and editing capabilities. i cant complaint about that, i think it goes above and beyond its capabilities for an app.

      Chopping samples, zero crossing, effects, bouncing your tracks to waveform for tracking out(don't have the op1), resampling, etc. mpc is probably better tbch but I came from fl and logic so it was like home for me when I played with it and I only got it for $330 lol

    dont matter where it comes from. people who are hung on equipment to the point that they give it more importance than the music thats produced with it are just wack.
    9th wonder started in FL Studio and if you think he doesnt have musical sensibility your just an idiot. Eventually he started using the MPC and just carried his style over. A true producer has the music in THEM and just manifest it through whatever medium. The tool wont make you better.
