Come and join ARRI's big announcement: the launch of SkyPanel X-the new all-weather LED luminaire and latest addition to the SkyPanel family. Introduced as a modular system and configurable into different sizes, SkyPanel X now offers native soft, native hard, and open-face lighting. This state-of-the-art LED light sets new standards in terms of dimming, color rendition, output, and beam quality, making it the perfect lighting solution.
Be there when ARRI's Senior Product Manager, Ben Diaz, delves deeper into our latest product. Accompanying him will be Director of Photography James Friend ASC, BSC, as well as the Gaffers Lisa Maria Müller and Harlon Haveland. Together, they will share their firsthand experiences with this new fixture across diverse scenarios, tailored to their individual requirements.

I’ve been wondering what Arri has been doing with their time while so many manufacturers have been releasing panels that seemed to be racing past traditional sky panels. Now I know that Arri has been quietly building a Formula 1 race car behind the scenes, and this car is so much faster than the competition. Congratulations to all the engineers, bean counters, and interns who have been quietly doing heavy lifting behind the scenes to bring this great new light to life. 👍👏🎉💪🧐✖️➗➕➖👩💻🧑💻👨💻=⚡️

The spot adapter and ability to stack them to make something like a newer better maxebrute makes this very intriguing. I'd love to see a few things like if it dims to 0 or if there's a hard cut off, and how it compares in brightness to a few other lights. Seems extremely versatile, can't wait to use them!
When they did the bouce on the cherry picker I wanted to reach for the meter and see what we had at 800ISO etc. I wish they had for the soft and the spot.

You guys should say that it was largely based on the Vortex 8 by Creamsource.
If the color is more like the orbiter than that’s a game changer, sky panels have been great lights, but the color, (particular deep colors like blue and red*) could get very muddy compared to other lights.
*Deep blues, magentas, and red can be brutal on digital sensors, and displays, so lights that can provide those colors without making the colorist lose their mind is preferable.
Thanks for your comment. Did you hear about our new ARRI ALEXA modes? With this new innovation, it is now possible to calibrate the SkyPanel X for the best possible color reproduction in any ARRI ALEXA or AMIRA camera sensor. It really takes color rendition to a whole new quality level!
@@ARRIChannel Yes, yes! I’m really excited about this function. It reminds of when the first volume set (for The Mandalorian) was calibrated specifically for the Alev III sensor. So I’m really happy that the Alexa modes work for both Alev III and Alev IV !
Honestly the lights are going to live in these modes for me.
I just wish I had the money to buy all arri products

Would it be possible to see an off-speed frame rate test with the light dimming down then brightening up? Stage mode on the old panels caused a lot of flicker if it was accidentally set on or used to get smoother dimming for effects. If any DOP/DIT tests this please get in contact!

Can anyone help me understand the "hand test" the two technicians are applying ? They say, "lets see when the 4k takes over." I assume it has to do with the output?
Yes, they are watching their hands to see how quickly the light drops off and loses intensity.

Yes, but the one from the Orbiter is not water resistent.
But you can use it though.
@sylwynas is correct - control panels are interchangeable, but the new one shares the same IP66 rating as the SkyPanel X

Arri busy playing catch up to the rest of the industry. Expensive light that will be irrelevant in 3 years just like the failed Orbiter. Looks cool but I can’t see why any rental houses would make a major investment in these other than wanting to please gaffers who want to brag about using the latest technology.
Stop it with the X branding...
