I for one would LOVE to see more comparison videos, especially in the LED range. Fiilex vs Aputure vs Nanlux and etc etc. these are great for us DP’s that are now having to deal with so many manufacturers and infinite choices

Great great video. I have a 2x1 soft (I modified with an arri s60 intensifier) and a vortex4 and they compliment eachother. The 4 gets reflected alot to beat the inverse square law for background and the gemini soft for key lights.
Bare bulb 2x1 hard was surprisingly dirty on color that would have thrown me off had I not known that. I use my fx9 as a "color meter".

S60 intensifier in a 2x1 soft? That's cool. How did you manage that?
I should a a Vortex 4 to my kit - was just at NAB eyeing those. Seems like a handy size for the punch and flexibility you get

@@dappergaffer oh yeah I did it for kicks you do have to cut the s60 intensifier and "plastic version of weld" the edges with some scrap plexiglass square rods to close it up. Its in there permanently as I removed the soft oem panel. It actually as a result gave me great spill reduction because it focused it to about 120-90deg best of both worlds it gets all the light pointed at whatever rag youre shootinf through. Plus its actually usable aiming at a ceiling.
Vortex4 works for me as minivan gaffer. My client base is a bit fast/scrappy so the less ballasts the better. I'm running vortex4 on battery with aputure dual 48v battery thing. Only thing is my IDX198duo get weird and temporarily trip the batts internal overload switch on the 48v bay so I think the trick is disconmect the 3pin xlr then mount batteries then turn on then switch on light.
Or you could go with gemini 1x1 hard.

It is one thing to be a Gaffer, but dapper as well?. Lighting and dress tips, I have to subscribe😃😃😃

Ha ha! In my defense, it's a name I was dubbed by my peers - I just embraced it 😀
But I am a classic menswear enthusiast - should I add "how to dress"? 🤔

Really cool to see a video of basically the same thing that I did with a Gemini 2x1 Hard and a Vortex8 a month or two ago to compare them. The color shift on the Gemini without the diffusion was surprising. I asked Litepanels about it and they said basically, "Well the color is accurate when you add the diffusion." Which is like making a car that goes fast but has terrible handling and the manufacturer saying, "well the car handles great at lower speeds."
I kinda wish you would have put your readings up on the screen to give the audience a chance to compare the numbers side by side. Maybe when you get the chance to borrow a Skypanel X you can do another video comparing the three lights?

Thank you for the feedback sir! Side by side readings on the screen are a good idea. BTW, I believe Litepanels is close to releasing something to improve that color shift. Looking forward to testing that out.
Would love to do some comparisons with the Skypanel X but I don't currently have any connections at @ARRIChannel so we'll see. Did just post a podcast with some initial thoughts on the X though:
