      Yes, the new prices are steep and likely not for westerners who are into just staying and being left alone and not all those perks beyond the immigration line skip. Thankfully there is still the non-O and non-OA, which are cheap, just require some bureaucratic stuff to make the government happy.

      My wife and I were planning to retire in 10 years time.
      The million baht was well within our budget, 5 million baht has just destroyed that!

    I have a 5 year elite visa and immigration still requires specific info on where and how long you are staying. Even with VIP service, immigration wasn't going to allow me entry without proof of a return airplane itinerary and a hotel/condo stay invoice/program. Now that the price has substantially increased, I don't think it's worth renewing or upgrading. 143k amounts to many vacations or years of traveling. I love Thailand but the new increased rate isn't cost/benefit positive.

    I think I’ll just keep making my yearly trip to Pattaya for renew. If they ever put the kabash on that avenue, it’s back to the U.S. for me. I’ve often wondered what type of people actually pay this much just to have the privilege of not being bothered while they spend more of their hard earned money adding to the Thai economy. This seems backwards to me but it always has 🤷‍♂️

      2 x 10 years gets you 70 points, 1 x 20 years gets you 120 points........ perhaps this is the reason?

      @@p.m.8316 The points are....pointless. They sound like nice perks but really aren't of value; the true value is in the visa itself, in legally being able to stay in the country perpetually without having to do stupid border runs or gaming immigration through bogus ED visas etc. Hence, the 5 year at 900k is the best value. Not only does it work out cheaper over 10 or 20 years, but (as you have seen with these changes), the authorities can easily radically overhaul the entire program, meaning it'd be foolish to pay for 20 years up front and be locked in. Plus how can anyone accurately say whether they'll even want to be living in Thailand 20 years into the future.

    • @PsychicLord
      @PsychicLord 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@p.m.8316 Who knows, I have not seen the details, however I would guess that each time you use what was a 'visa long service', you use points instead.

    The Immigration Office asks for more papers in progress while we do the 1 year Visa. Given the distance from the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consulate with the survey of the measures and make an appointment. You understand why in 2023 there will be fewer foreigners arriving. Don't be greedy by taking a whole arm because you won't get anything.
