Absolutely will be modern classic it already feels like it … every time I look at it I feel old … but what a design it gave birth to … I’m only 20 aswell but yeah would love to own one
@Jenson-lx9eg, yeah I remember seeing the original design when I was a kid and how insane it looked back then against everything else.
I owned that car for five years, mine was a V10 manual with a GMG exhaust and an APR tune bringing power to 600+ HP. I communted to work and drove it on track regularly, and eventually removed the front diff and driveshafts turning it into a lighter (-120 Lbs) RWD version, which was even better and sharper in the corners. I loved the car, the noise, the balance, the breaks, and the feel of the notchy gated manual, it was very competent on-track and comfortable as a GT. Unfortunately I ended up selling it a couple of years ago with 114,000 KMs on it, having retired I was afraid of major costly repairs, (for example, a set of four magnaride shocks cost me $12k (!) to replace, as they tended to leak after 40k KMs). Too bad, watching this video brings back such fond memories, I probably will never own a car like that again. Thanks Misha, so glad you loved it too!
This is the car I am looking into trying to find.....the V10 MT in good shape. I am seeing one here and there for sale but most are spyders and I dont want a spyder....the search continues

@@Zulkeyz ...not really worried about any repairs. I was an aircraft mechanic for 25 years(and a 'car guy' before-during and after that) and have worked on lots of 'high tech' things and as long as I can get parts, its all good.....have a lift and tools and all that, so....I should think that I could do at least 90% of all my own 'repairs'.....I might even buy one of the new tire machines to mount my own tires.....I already have a good balance machine.....so....
I just want the nice V10 and a manual transmission.

Hey Misha, great news! I'm no longer a green hell virgin! Saturday I finally got to have my first lap, and even though it was a rather wet lap, it was AWESOME!! All 14 minutes of it 😎👍
The biggest surprise was as I've heard other people say, the elevation changes. I just got to do one lap for now, but now the way back is in the planning.
So after waiting for all these years and so many laps on Gran Turismo, at the age of 50, one bucket list item is checked off!

Yes indeed, the sudden elevation changes, blind crests leading up to corners that seem to feign a left, then go right, then double back again, all while the car feels like it's going to float away as it suddenly gets lighter are not replicated on Gran Turismo!

Sounds like R tronic which basically was an automated manual
@@MarphyWSounds like the clutch was slipping a bit though. R Tronic/ E Gear is usually a little cleaner on the upshifts.

@@loganshort1324its probably the map. Quicker shift times from the ECU and the clutch can't keep up
@@enfantterrible4868 seems like your exactly right, the mechanicals cant keep with the electronicals. I definitely would chose a DCT overall, but the analog feel with that slight delay in this would seem kinda fun sometimes too 👍🏻.

Great drive. The fuel consumption shows up to 40 liters, that is quiet high. I booked two laps with instructor in the Golf GTI at APEX today for mid A😊ugust and I am looking forward to it.
I floor my corolla and it can reach 20L/100km. So, I call that R8 has good fuel economy for racing lol.

@@Ramsi-Berlin i know its hot summer day, but still, its a super car from audi, only NA not turboed to enormous boost pressures. It should go for 20 laps without stopping IMO. Maybe that little tuning they did is some horrible map..

I remember that Walter Röhrl once said, that Porsche makes race cars for the street and that they are the only car maker, where u can take ur car from the street to the race track and drive fast times without worrying about something breaking.
I always thought he might exaggerated when he said this.. but after seing all the cars that broke after just 1 round with Misha behind the steering wheel, i start to believe him.

Maybe I should add the Car runs on Bilstein B16 Clubsport - the engine is perfectly fine - we changed Oil the day after an checked it „all good!“ - the engine never got warm again and before - so no worries - as well the engine has had its „6000RPM“ Security for some reason 😊

It's crazy how responsive it was on turn in. Truly amazing. Also the clutch is in it's last days. Shouldn't slip like that
Yeah the clutch was wierd..
That clutch definitely didn't look healthy. seems to be slipping on every shift. Also, 150c is insanely high, most likely damaged the engine
Isn't it an effect of lifting between shifts? Gearbox is expecting flat shifts. My BMW dct sometimes behaves like this if you (unnecessarily) lift between shifts. Other rev wobbles just appear to be from jumps

This is no dsg, it has the single plate robotized lambo box.

Just a heads up, there should be a way to flip the rear facing video horizontally so it's in the correct orientation. You should be able to do that in the editing software.

I wonder if a Gopro Session would be sufficient as a gauge cam, with it being smaller it would probably be a lot easier to read the gauges from your driving position
1:20 i was there that day too(first day/lap) and my first lap was at around 12:00 and my 2nd/last was at 14:45(when it started to rain and began to rain heavily) was with a group of others and i believe someone of that group already went on the track when you left(white Ford Fiesta with dutch plates) so that was fun. planning to do some tuning to my car, its currently a stock(asside from aesthethics) Seat Leon 1p 1.4tsi facelift
The shifting seemed weird, after the clutch re-engaged, the RPMs went lower for a while. Is this a DCT? Sounded like both clutches went on at the same time for half a second. 🤔
Yes, that's because the clutch is slipping heavily. It needs to be replaced.
The gear sounds like there is a problem with the clutch.

Не смотря на то, что не очень люблю ауди. Но р8, даже первого поколения, считаю достаточно сбалансированной машиной для трека. Действительно универсальная. Показалось, что gearbox странно работает на переключениях на повышенную передачу...

The V10 is the best sounding engine about, In my opinion the bmw 5.0L V10 M5 is hands down the most beautiful sound to ever come out of a motor Vehicle.

I absolutely love the vids, especially the cars that are usually not regarded as a car you could drive the track with.
For this reason I'd love to see you drive more stock cheaper cars that are common, like a Volkswagen Polo and other smaller/cheaper cars like that.
I'm looking to maybe go buy a car for myself (currently driving a leased car so won't be allowed to use it on the track) but my budget and car knowledge do not reach the level of cars you usually drive.
Again, love the vids but would like to see more "cheap" cars being driven.
The noise is just so emotional. Man we will miss these things.

My buddy has (had) a 2010 R8 V10 6 speed gated, he had a driveshaft issue and anytime you need to do anything with the transmission or driveshaft the engine and trans has to come out. Lucky for us we have Other than that they are reasonable to maintain 😂
