  • Hi friends
I just want to tell you why we shouldn’t take things for granted. Of course I’m partially referring to this pandemic that crippled so many things we used to have, suddenly everything isn’t possible. Whilst I am slowly adjusting to live with covid 19, I succumbed to an illness I’ve never experienced, guessed age has caught up with me. Without proper medical treatment I wouldn’t be able to post this episode for you, thankfully things are under control. For me now every day is a different day, guess I have to take it one day at a time. Sorry for boring you with this, meanwhile do go out and support our local street food. Thanks and see you in the next.

I think you are the only Cantonese speaking food TH-camr in Malaysia. Keep up the interesting content going! I believe the way most locals pronounced red bean dessert in Cantonese that way is because of the local hokkien influence = Ang Thau Jui 😁
Take care and thanks for the Cantonese lessons 👍

It's anytime better to support our local/ family run food outlets than corporate fast food outlets. It's most likely healthier and tastier.

I have been a regular to Taman Megah "Sisters Dessert" for decades.
    (😄all the way from Ampang,KL).
Actually, this stall started by their mother almost 2 decades ago, then now operated by her daughters Uni graduates.
For me, heading to Sisters Dessert stall is Just like having High Tea Buffet..
Simply love the Freshness & varieties with many types of tong sui (not too sweet),
fried popiah, fried turnip, fried fish balls, especially the Fried "sandwich" tni-kueh with yam+potato , Fried Chicken "Lobak" etc..
& Nyonya Kuehs & even cakes..
    &
    for EARLY dinner
they have fried bihun/mee, nasi lemak (love their sambal) & many nyonya dishes 😋😋
    They operate only from 2.00-5.30pm..

It is good to get a history lesson for knowledge. I would follow the community when I am in Penang or in Klang for the proper name calling.

Some sweetness is good, I have tried some which is over sweet, it is not nice at all when it is overdose. Less sweet is better than over sweet, the best is still correct sweetness. Ruby Restaurant, Pudu's black sesame dessert sweetness has been adjusted a few years back, I love their latest version, previously, it was just too sweet. Some dessert can take with very less sugar, where you get the natural taste. Try it. Sugar is a silent killer.

I like traditional tong sui very much and avoided all those artificially made cold dessert fusion from Taiwan, I do not consider this as tong sui. I have cut down consumption a lot because of high sugar content. I must have my tong sui hot or very warm, that is my first citeria, if the tong sui is not hot enough, I am not going back there to eat. It is the same feeling of taking warm tea or coffee, there is no ummph. Most cafe collapse or go bust because cannot maintain the 'small matters'. Mine you, a lot of cafe serve warm coffee. Try taking hot tau foo fah or hot gui ling gao without sugar, it taste naturally good.

While Hong Kee Desert is full of variety and pretty traditional, they failed to use proper main ingredient - water. Their products though nice to see, but I just couldn't finish a bowl because the Tong Sui is full of chlorine taste. IF they don't use basic carbon filter, at least let their water sit for a day or 2 before using them to cook. I find this so important
