Howdy folks, for this video I’ll take you to Petaling street in KL. Twenty years ago I come here quite often since my office was around this area. In all honesty, the old Petaling street didn’t give me a good impression. That’s because they were notoriously known for rude traders selling substandard goods and dishonest fruit vendors etc. Thankfully most of the stalls are now returned the locals and we can expect better services and honesty. However one thing has never changed in these few decades and that is the Street food. All these years the food stalls and kopitiams here have consistently maintained the quality and taste. Today we’re going to taste some of Malaysia’s oldest stalls right here in Petaling street. Please support our local street food. Thank you

Thank you.great tour of Petaling Street. There used to be clothes and record shops along the main street in the 70's.always so vibrant.there were vegetarian restaurants, that i used togo to after visitiing the temple on fridays.further along the entrance of the main street there were coffin shops and a bus stop along it. That's the Petaling Street I remember.A wonderful part of kuala lumpur no more

Oh yes geetha I remember the coffin shop coz the bus always stops right in front. I was very superstitious therefore would avoid standing in front of tis shop

Yah true.but the main bus station, one stop later, was always crowded,so i took from the coffin shop and paid 10 cents to next stop.

Aaah yes, everlasting memories of Petaling Street. Of the different eras, l frequent the place during the late 70s and early 80s, the days of Rex cinema, mini buses and many of your mentioned delicious food stalls, which were l classified as cheap and hood back in those days. So glad to see these old food stalls are still operating, it is almost like a time capsule!

High Street is the name the English give to the primary shopping street. In the UK, the term 'high street' is associated with premium shopping, usually clothes. KL High Street was not named because it was on elevated (high) ground

Short weighing, pirates goods, rude vendors is a trade mark of Petaling Street since the 1st time I visited Petaling Street more then 40 years ago before the existence of foreigners working in Petaling Street and it is highly erroneous and great injustice to make foreigners as scapegoats for the infamous Petaling Street vendors.

Thank you for the very elaborative history of Petaling street & I like the fact that you are using Cantonese in your videos! I film my videos in Cantonese too! Nowadays, very rare to find Cantonese TH-camr in Malaysia. I spent my childhood there, my parents used to have stalls there. Heard some of the stories from my parents but never really knew the actual history of it.

I am disappointed that you did not recommend the beef noodle in Petaling Street to your subscribers, I think its called Soon Kee , diagonally opposite the Lei Foong Restaurant. Its serves one of the best beef noodles. The place is small, and its always very crowded. The soup is clear in taste and not taste like medicine soup like other beef noodle stall. Try it out and I guarantee you will go again. Its better than the beef noodle in Lei Foong.
