  • Dear friends
After a few months I can finally film myself dining in my featured outlets, thanks to the government for allowing dine in now. Thanks to your concern over my health and safely. I’ll definitely take extra care when doing all my filming and of course dining in too. Please take good care of yourself and do support our local street food. Cheers and see you in the next video.

Hi, this is Mrs Moorthy of Moorthys Mathai Restaurant. Thank you so much for your review and your patronage. Appreciate it. Please note it’s not called Bistro Moorthy Mathai. It’s Moorthys Mathai Restaurant. We look forward to your repeat visit. Tq.

Hi, just some observations. Banana leaf means started out as vegetarian, not vegan ~ there is a difference. Also, the best thing at Acha curry house is the ikan bilis sambal ~ that is what they are known for. As for Mathai Moorthy, best known for fried ikan tenggiri. Started out as a stall in a kopitiam in Brickfields.

It was very deliciuos and very quickly l ate it up...and then the seller came to refill my leaf with another large serving of rice and various vege side dishes! woah, didn't know about half of them. BTW it's only in Tamil banana leaf culture do you have the folding the banana leaf this way or that. In a Malayalee banana leaf, it's always folded away from you. Anyway, little difference, most Banana leaf in Malaysia are Tamil. 2 of them in the list though are Malayalee...by their name (not cooking style). Did you know Banana leaf restaurants love Chinese customers? Indian customers tend to be more budget conscious (stingy) :)

Elmo, next time, to be fair, Please quote the price for ONLY a vegan set. Yes, a vegan set with rice, gravy, papadom, vegetables, rasam etc! Those meats are meant for ADD ONs and should be added separately la...Better still, you must find out if the portion is single or double or family size! As you have introduced, banana leaf meals are Originally Vegan without any meats of any kind! The prices will definitely be even more if seafood like squids, prawns or certain sea fish like groupa or red snapper are included....

But it's understood that the vegan is price always between 7 to RM10 and since its only RM3 different. I dun think anyone will b interested to know. Besides I'm always comparing apples to apples. All the prices I quoted was based on the side toppings together with the vegan.
