Been doing some Alpine series at Lime Rock and it's absolutely amazing, have always liked rf2( I and a lot of others think it has the best FFB of any of the sims!), but online through LFM it's amazing!!! Go LFM!!!!! Thanks for sharing Dave! w
I was going to wait with writing my comment till the end of the video, but when Dave said that watching this race may not be as enjoyable as driving in it, because the sensation of speed (allegedly) wouldn't be too great, I just had to sit down to the keyboard immediately (... I hope you feel guilty now, Dave ;D ...). Well, let me inform you, Dave, that the watching experience was AMAZING! I haven't enjoyed watching a simracing video so much for a long time! And I so hope that you don't leave this sim aside now, only with a footnote: it's a decent diversion for a change :). Because it really deserves better, IMO. From my, this viewer's, point of view, it's light years better than ACC. No comparison. The cars in ACC seem very "stiff" and "boxy" in the way they handle, and the characteristics of the TC and ABC only encourage that. I don't know how accurate it is to real life, but the effect, i.e. cars driving in this point-and-accelerate fashion, where you hardly see the suspension and tires loading up and the car actually going round a corner, is rather unpleasant. It also seems to me like the driver has little to do within a corner in ACC -- all the job is in braking super-hard at the right moment, getting the car set up for the turn, turning in a set amount and waiting till you can slam on the gas pedal. It's so much different here! The handling model appears quite similar to that of the iRacing, but probably even better. The car moves around in a corner and you can actually drive it (with the steering, the throttle and the brakes) while cornering! And compared to iRacing it's really nice to see the tire wear appear more quickly and have a much more tangible impact on the handling. As for the sensation of speed: I mean, these are BTTC cars -- effectively, something very much like the TCRs in iRacing. Well, I'd say TCRs, if anything, only appear slower than this in racing videos. They are just relatively slow (compared, for example, to GT3s), I guess :).
What shall I say? rFactor2 joins LfM? How cool is that? I really enjoyed watching this video since I never have seen you drive rF2 before. Maybe you have and I´ve missed it. But main spirit is ACC and iRacing. I was a huge fan of ISI back in the day of rF1. I´ve got rF2 with a lifetime license back in the day, played it and it went to the shelves. iRacing and ACC caught me then. Now iRacing is too expensive for me since inflation made everything so expensive here. Seeing that rF2 joins Low Fuel Motorsports even if its beta for now is a milestone. This motivates me to reinstall rF2 since 2017 and i´m pretty sure that many things have change since then following the roadmap etc. The racing action was awesome and so lively..... As you say the curbs felt good and the tires degredates and you feel it. Wow. Time to give rF2 another chance for me :) Thanks Dave :)
If you're still at 50% tires near the end of the race you're allll gooood. You looked after your tires very well. I usually finish with around 10% or less.
Hi Dave. I can see that you have the Simucube tahko gt-21wheel . Could you give us your thoughts on that wheel and the Simucube Paddock settings for RF2 ?
I've been holding off buying RF2 until I had a reason. Looks like now I've got a reason! Re the incident - in BTCC rubbing's racing! As long as the cars can handle it and don't go spearing off into the wall or giving you penalty points I like a bit of door banging in racing.
Oh man. I have basically been racing just TCR for the past 2-3 season on iRacing and these news could not be better for me. Always wanted to try out rFactor due to its praised physics, but never ended up doing it since I am not interested in AI or community racing. Just purchased the game and the Focus, super excited to try it out. EDIT: I am definitely worried about how I'll feel about iRacing physics after racing this xD EDIT2: Also, race start with the physical track lights. Having some reference on where to look instead of iRacing UI. That and the physical led flags along the track. I know I am going to like the sim quite a lot.
Hey Dave, I know this is an old video, but would you mind sharing your computer specs that you had at this point? I'm looking to get into this and wonder how much computer I would need to run RF2 on trip 27" monitors. thanks in advance!
I can run ACC in VR pretty smoothly on my laptop, but Rf2 varies with weather and lighting which I cannot seam to fix, day races are smooth af and then at Daytona at night 2 days ago I had to quit the race 3min in because of the insane lags caused by lights and headlights. I need some more tweaking before I join online races again, but this is definitely where more of my time would be going once I fix performance issues.
How can you run ACC on a laptop on VR? I struggle on a PC with Ryzen 3600 and 3060ti and I gave up an bought a monitor ... can you share your settings somewhere?
@@bbogdanmircea bro you have better specs than me even, well it took some tweaking, since I use Quest 2, I also had to use opencomposite / openXR along with some settings in oculus tray tool. What headset do you use?
Nice race with nice fight like real BTCC with little door hit in english way! Key point of BTCC is the tyre management! for a race of more than 20mn the medium ones are much better! for info on a FW the wear is worse!
Are you referring to the in-car overlays? Agree that those look old and I'm sure they are on the roadmap to get updated. The actual game menu has been completely redone from scratch and is quite nice now. I don't agree with you on the graphics. I would slot it in-between iRacing and ACC. Have you played it recently with high settings? It might surprise you especially on DLC tracks/cars. It has come a long way in the last couple of years. This past year has seen the most improvements probably since its inception.
@@racingsimaddicts7563 I played it last week on everything maxed out and just think it looks dated compared to ACC and AMS2. Guess there’s no perfect sim eh!
@@chrisparry4461 Oh yeah, ACC and AMS 2 are the current state of the art so it can't match those. It's an older proprietary graphics engine that they have improved massively in the last couple of years but it can't compare to Unreal Engine 4 and a modified Madness engine. One thing to note is that it looks much better if you set the times to be earlier in the morning or late afternoon. Try the Laguna Seca DLC at 5pm and make the track wet and that's where you see it at its best. I would say it looks much better than games from 22 years ago :).
RF2 is amazing!!!!! Most people don´t spend the time to understand why is the best simulation because on a minor red flag they blame the game and not the lack of brain instead. LFM is just a huge boost to all RF2 hardcore simracers to join in a single place easly and thats AMAZING!
I was surprised to hear a crew chief in your race, I did not think rFactor 2 has it besides ovals that I dont like. What are you using for crew chief, please? Thanks
Nice racing as always Dave. It seems very good indeed. I really like Brands but never seem to do well there all the times I've raced it. LMS is very good for the sim racing community and looks like it's getting better all the time.
Dave... I can't tell you how long I, for one, have waited for you to be able to make this video. Multilayer rf2... It's about damn time this was possible for those who aren't server engineers. 😅 I was wondering, would you be able to share your sim settings (gfx, FFB etc) at some point? I've recently reinstalled rf2 and am requiring inspiration on FFB setting specifically. I don't remember at all what I used to use for that lovely, lovely tyre feel.
@A Layman's Insight If you have the same base as my self and I believe Dave the SX2 Pro search the Paddoct software and choose Rf2 as the game Simucube 2 Pro as the base then search AGP thats the profile I use. In game turn off smoothing from 9 to 0 and your ffb strength needs to be set as a -value like -100 is 100% as RF2 recognises the SC2 inverted. I use -45 for most cars. I let the game choose the Wheel rotation and that seems to feel really good for me but i have to admit I haven't tried any others. I love the Simucube 2 just for the paddock software alone. Being able to just search a game what base your using and what wheel rim and see all the other profiles others have shared and them use that profile for me thats a big game changer for most.
RF2 is amazing and I'm salivating at the idea of doing a 24 hour race, where the weather could actually change! How exciting is that, imagine doing spa and it just turns dark then all of a sudden it starts to rain. Absolute chaos ☺️. That excites me especially for someone that comes from iracing 😂😂 and someone that just doesn't like how acc drives nor do I like it's weird graphic bugs and strange bright colours
So in terms of the tire HUD, 100-81% rest tirelife green graph, 80 to 51% yellow and 50 to 0 it´s red. to the temps. if the tire is blue it´s cold, purple to pink is optimum and red to yellow is too hot. It´s a nice help to read if you got too much camber on the car. The flatspots, that you drove into the tire are steady, so over the race, the tire will like in reality have the tendence to lock up on the same flatspot while breaking, so the flatspots are getting worse over the duration of the race. Softs are more flatspothappy if you lock them up than Meds or Hards and if you´d like to get the rumble a little bit less, you can slitghtly increase the smoothing in the FFB settings, but not too high, because you are loosing FFB fidelity. The BTCC cars and other cars wothout ABS i´m going with 6 to 8 smoothing, GT3 and other ABS cars i´m sticking to 4 on my CSL Elite, but i think that pretends on personal preferences
finally, i got a lifetime account after being blown away by rf1, its been a long wait good RF2 finally be coming what it should be? ..... lovely race . FYI Push to pass is a hybrid system that gives so many laps of a boost depending on qualy or last race in BTCC so i assume RF2 is similar.
Great job as always. It seems odd that the right front had more wear than the left considering the difference in left and right turns. Is that because of lock ups?
pretty much all the laserscanned track´s of rfactor(not all tracks are laserscanned thou) are prised as the best one on the market. It´s not only the look, it´s the feel aswell. Back when they released their first laserscanned (sebring) it was realy an gamechanger and put the bar for laserscanned content on a whole new level. Their newer and "loved" none laserscanned track´s are also on the high quality side. Ofc, there are also alot of older tracks which didn´t got any love by studio397 recently (yes, i am looking at you sepang) - but about 70% are just great.
Been trying to find a good sim to race different cars but also has good online. Is RF2 a good substitute for Iracing? I tried Raceroom but not many open lobbies but maybe thats because I dont have all the content. Or should i just keep grinding the content i want for iracing.
IMO you did just fine Dave, lines where very good drove the car very well. Its learning to set brake balance and some setup tweaks. Push 2 pass is only on 2022 cars. You should always choose 2021 car when possible, it has no P2P and has max power all the time. Just maximise corner speed and radius, dont overwork the tyres early which you didnt, stick to soft tyres always.
Quality video and will definitely download from Steam now. I'm relatively new to PC sim racing, will I need the main game and just the BTCC pack to access these BTCC daily races? Any other packs you'd recommend for this game as a starter? Thanks.
I hope this kicks off, rFactor is new for me as well but I can see myself playing this as my main sim online. I have been struggling to find reason to play iRacing after 11 months
I was a "huge" fan of Rfactor back in the day. My biggest issue with Rfactor and RF2 from an online racing standpoint is the open mod'ing platform. Since there was never a true IRacing or LFM type race matching system for Rfactor or RF2, if you didn't have the correct third party mod, the correct third party version of the mod, the correct third party track, of the correct version of the third party track, you were pretty much screwed when it comes to just logging on and jumping into a race. And trying to figure out where to get all the mod files, even if you wanted to take the time and effort to do so, was a nightmare. As much as I was never a huge fan of IRacing, for a number of reasons, it's always had, and still currently has, the best race matching option system is the sim racing scene. Maybe I'll give LFM a shot since they're offering RF2 races now. Do you know if they have any open wheel options for RF2 Dave? If LRM going to be a platform for GT racing only, that would be a shame. :(
Just ran a few laps on the LFM practice server. I keep forgetting out old and out of date the RF2 graphics look. Plus, the net code is not as tight as I remember it being. As much as I want RF2 to be an alternative to IRacing, I think it's time has passed. Nothing there to make me want to switch from IRacing. Btw, what's your thoughts on Rennsport Dave? Think that has potential? Or is that going to end up just being vaporware, since pro competition online sim racing looks to be a bust?
Dave, does your safety rating and ELO carry across from ACC to RF2 and vice versa? Do any positive and negatives affect just the sim you're racing in, or does it affect your other sims too?
I gained ELO and SR on my main LFM licence so it looks like it carries over. I know there was a poll by LFM asking if people wanted separate licences for each sim
Hey Dave out of all the Sim racing titles that are out there which would you say looks like best graphically? IMO ACC looks the best followed close by AMS2
You pay for the base game but there are DLC packs. Price can get high, but once you've purchased it, it's yours. No subscriptions. Oh and another good thing, if the server allows skin sharing, you can run a custom skin and everyone "should" be able to see it. It's not perfect though but does work.
I really haven’t nerves to fiddle around with rF2 - i now it can be a good sim, but sucks with getting installed all DLC‘s, getting triples running and FFB with VRS Wheelbase to setup. I stay with iRacing and ACC, anything much much easier to do…
Rfactor probably has one of the easiest triple setups..really. And the other stuff isn't hard either. The UI and setup improved a lot over the years. Not forcing anyone, but imho as a simracer you miss out when you don't try it.
@@EricW6800 i tried rF2, and I know it is very good in FFB and physics - but I am on iRacing for many years now - also ACC in the last weeks - I don’t want to join a privat league, because I hate fixed racing times - in iRacing I can go racing whenever I want to - rF2 has not such a big community… Maybe LFM will fix this
What i learned in the last 4 years of rf2 is, that the netcode works nearly perfect - i think it´s the best for tight wheel to wheel racing- up to a ping around 100-120ms.
Only the 2022 cars have push to pass but they are slower as the 2021 effectively have the P2P for the whole lap, don't use them. And make sure you set the engine mode to 6 or you'll be losing a lot of pace

@@andytomlinson415 they need this data so they can work out the licence and SR levels/score. I believe LFM run their own penalty system
@@Simlife101 Yep, LFM have their own ELO and SR formulae for their sites ranking tables. The data is pulled from the back end of the server which I have never had any dealings with but knew it was there because of Simhub.
Just didn't know RF2 had any car > car impact detection because all enduro races I took part in had live stewards and I had team partners that processed the reports whilst I carried on with the racing.
10% 😂
this is really amazing! hopefully they will have some of the series focused on Free mods!
nice video as always Dave! keep it up =D
NIce to have RF2 back late into 2022 thanks to LFM. Remember Dave that The ELO is not an acronym but the surmane of its crator :P
The only thing they should do is to keep two separate ratings for Rfactor and ACC, after that, they officially saved SimRacing. Great race btw, Dave 👍
It's TOCA Dave, contact is a must!
Oh man. I have basically been racing just TCR for the past 2-3 season on iRacing and these news could not be better for me. Always wanted to try out rFactor due to its praised physics, but never ended up doing it since I am not interested in AI or community racing.
Just purchased the game and the Focus, super excited to try it out.
EDIT: I am definitely worried about how I'll feel about iRacing physics after racing this xD
EDIT2: Also, race start with the physical track lights.
@@AdzzVR How can I get in contact with you? I have horrible stuttering especially in races. I have a Lenovo Explorer which is weaker than Quest2
Nice race with nice fight like real BTCC with little door hit in english way! Key point of BTCC is the tyre management!
for a race of more than 20mn the medium ones are much better! for info on a FW the wear is worse!
Love the FFB and physics on this game but the menus and actual graphics feel like something from 2000!
Wait till you see the gui On iRacing… straight outta 1996
Are you referring to the in-car overlays? Agree that those look old and I'm sure they are on the roadmap to get updated. The actual game menu has been completely redone from scratch and is quite nice now. I don't agree with you on the graphics. I would slot it in-between iRacing and ACC. Have you played it recently with high settings? It might surprise you especially on DLC tracks/cars. It has come a long way in the last couple of years. This past year has seen the most improvements probably since its inception.
@@funkytransport black boxes in iRacing are archaic, but the ones in rFactor2 are even worse.
You should definetly go for the push and pass technique, is so much fun to see the guy you're passing spinning in your mirrors.
Do it Dave, for me!
RF2 is amazing!!!!! Most people don´t spend the time to understand why is the best simulation because on a minor red flag they blame the game and not the lack of brain instead. LFM is just a huge boost to all RF2 hardcore simracers to join in a single place easly and thats AMAZING!
Yeah the in game HUD is pants in rF2, but if you wait a little while RaceLabApps will be bringing their overlays to the game with LFM integration
Shqm hud is good and in the steam workshop
Yeah there's also tons of SumHub ones ;)
I was surprised to hear a crew chief in your race, I did not think rFactor 2 has it besides ovals that I dont like. What are you using for crew chief, please? Thanks
Nice racing as always Dave.
It seems very good indeed.
I really like Brands but never seem to do well there all the times I've raced it.
LMS is very good for the sim racing community and looks like it's getting better all the time.
That poor right front... Great racing, Dave!
Really hope to see this in AC some time much needed !
I love iRacing, but before that was rF2. Think with you and Dan Suzuki trying this out a few more people will sign up to give it a go.
Dave... I can't tell you how long I, for one, have waited for you to be able to make this video. Multilayer rf2... It's about damn time this was possible for those who aren't server engineers. 😅
I was wondering, would you be able to share your sim settings (gfx, FFB etc) at some point?
5:52 amazing driving from both drivers. Shame the other driver spoilt it.
9:44 Such a smooth pass!
What headphones/earbuds are you rocking dude? Very interested headphones get hot AF as i'm sure you know.
Thank you, appreciate that 😁
I really want to try this but i cannot get RF2 to feel good on my VRS. Have zero FFB unless i crash into something. No idea how to make it feel good.
finally, i got a lifetime account after being blown away by rf1, its been a long wait good RF2 finally be coming what it should be? .....
lovely race .
FYI
Push to pass is a hybrid system that gives so many laps of a boost depending on qualy or last race in BTCC so i assume RF2 is similar.
Nice racing , there are some set up tips/hacks with RF2 but I’m not sure if they got patched. The RF2 does simulate flat spots in the FFB
My wheelbase breaks just as LFM release their rF2 beta... FYI general rules for rF2 tyre wear >80% are good tyres.
Great job as always. It seems odd that the right front had more wear than the left considering the difference in left and right turns. Is that because of lock ups?
Is the “push to pass” to do with the Hybrid era that came into BTCC this year? Top video as always Dave, Id love to see more BTCC content 👍🏻
Dave I have a question not about the race but about your stream, I like the TV camera running in the box top right, how do you do that ?
It's just a case of recording the replay separately and adding it in later in the edit 👍
@@davecamyt cheers dude
First time I’ve watched any RF2. Crackin race. Tyres looked ruined by the end. The track detail at Brands looked magic. Are other tracks as good?
pretty much all the laserscanned track´s of rfactor(not all tracks are laserscanned thou) are prised as the best one on the market.
I assume you have to get an RF2 LFM licence before you can race online. Or does the ACC one cover this as well??
great race good to see another decent alternative sim
How do you get that addon where the man is talking to you throughout the race giving you times etc? Cheers.
It's a program called Crew Chief 👍
@@davecamyt Ok great thanks!
Hi Dave Love the videos, have you got to have a certain safety rating before you can race like ACC.
Atm it is open for everyone
FYI Raceroom simulates flatspots really good, and with some older cars (no ABS) or open wheelers it's not that hard to develop one :)
Been trying to find a good sim to race different cars but also has good online. Is RF2 a good substitute for Iracing? I tried Raceroom but not many open lobbies but maybe thats because I dont have all the content. Or should i just keep grinding the content i want for iracing.
Dave what tyres are you using for the BTCC at donnington LFM? Feels like softs are not good even at the end of a qual stint.
Just done a race and went mediums. Pleased I didn't go soft 😂
@@davecamyt yeah i was in same race, did mediums on front and softs on rear. worked well

i could bet my arm and leg i've seen this video somewhere this week 🤔 some japanese guy? kawasaki or something? 😂🥳👌👊
Thanks.
If you get the BTCC pack you get brands and donny I believe. I think you should be good to go then 😁
@@davecamyt Super, thanks.
I hope this kicks off, rFactor is new for me as well but I can see myself playing this as my main sim online. I have been struggling to find reason to play iRacing after 11 months
I believe the push to pass you need to hold the button and there's a delay
Okaaaay! I love this and RF2....
How do I get access to this leagues?? Can't find any thing related to any sim other than ACC which I can't even run properly
I may have to give this a go! Love RF2 but online is painful
Dave .. do you need a separate lFM licence for RFactor2… got my ACC one??
Nope as it stands now it's just one licence
Sorry Dave late to the video had Day Surgery in pain. One more video to get to.🤕👍
Get well soon Ed 👍
I hear that LFM will launcher day f3 races in the futur via rf2.
Dave online racing on RF2. Hell will freeze over :D. Its only going to take 2 month before you will spend much more of your time on RF2.
Push to pass in btcc is what it says on the tin, no button required.
I can't wait for the new Indycar game to come out.
Hey Dave out of all the Sim racing titles that are out there which would you say looks like best graphically? IMO ACC looks the best followed close by AMS2
Nice asetek wheel -base ;O)
Such a shame I can't get RF2 working. Great race Dave!
Get it working already?
@@gordon19701 Unfortunately not
Will LFM come to Raceroom?
Quite frankly, at this point, if LFM started charging for their service, I'd pay!
do i need both btcc car packs to race or just any 2 that i want?
Unfortunately you need all the BTCC cars to race on LFM in that series.
@@davecamyt ok thanks
Do you have to pay for cars and tracks in RF2 or is it a single purchase and you get it all?
You pay for the base game but there are DLC packs. Price can get high, but once you've purchased it, it's yours. No subscriptions.
Oh and another good thing, if the server allows skin sharing, you can run a custom skin and everyone "should" be able to see it. It's not perfect though but does work.
How and where does one get into this LFM?
The link to the website is in the video description 👍

What do I need to get the lobby to work? Any mods downloaded?
Ignore me. Just seen LFM display all that. Brilliant
Was just going to answer 😁
I really haven’t nerves to fiddle around with rF2 - i now it can be a good sim, but sucks with getting installed all DLC‘s, getting triples running and FFB with VRS Wheelbase to setup.
I stay with iRacing and ACC, anything much much easier to do…
Rfactor probably has one of the easiest triple setups..really.
And the other stuff isn't hard either.
The UI and setup improved a lot over the years.
Not forcing anyone, but imho as a simracer you miss out when you don't try it.
@@EricW6800 i tried rF2, and I know it is very good in FFB and physics - but I am on iRacing for many years now - also ACC in the last weeks - I don’t want to join a privat league, because I hate fixed racing times - in iRacing I can go racing whenever I want to - rF2 has not such a big community…
Maybe LFM will fix this
That was awesome 😎
Great racing, great graphics and looked like very good latency.
What i learned in the last 4 years of rf2 is, that the netcode works nearly perfect - i think it´s the best for tight wheel to wheel racing- up to a ping around 100-120ms.
Rf2 is definately more forgiving in terms of Door banging than other tittle.
This game just sits in my steam library waiting for the day it replaces iRacing.

wow, this looks amazing, my rf2 even on full graphics looks nothing like this, how?
on ultra settings on s397 tracks that have the pbr update look like this.
try world sim series for ac
Only the 2022 cars have push to pass but they are slower as the 2021 effectively have the P2P for the whole lap, don't use them. And make sure you set the engine mode to 6 or you'll be losing a lot of pace
