  • I've had an issue with my 2014 electric start TimeMaster where it would shut down on me halfway through mowing the yard and would not start up again until I let it cool down for 15 minutes or so. After some light research, I've concluded that the ignition coil needs to be replaced.

Thanks for posting. My Timemaster has been cutting out after about 30 minutes. I replaced the spark plug and will see if that might do the trick (this worked for a generator with a similar problem). The mower is only 3 years old and is used for just a couple of lawns. If the plug does not fix it then it sounds like I should try the coil. Your video will be very helpful!
Have you also had the issue with surging idle? Mine runs fine with the blade engaged but surges at idle when it is warm.

we’re you able to figure out the issue my time master 2017 dies after 20-30min in heat?

@@dereks6458 Yes! It needed a new fuel filter. They're hard to find for some reason. I tried many things before the filter did the trick, including getting into the carburetor more than once. Good luck!

7-13-22 my 30inch 20199 would run for about 30 minutes then stop. Replaced the ignition coil and probably disappeared! $42 at local toro dealer

When you were replacing the coil, you said it had a IN and OUT stamped on it but you really didn't go into detail on the how the coil had to be placed. Is IN on the bottom and OUT on the TOP or visa versa. Thanks!

What about a no start condition. It worked last week. Went to start this week and nothing. On some pulls I get a loud pop like a backfire. I pulled the plug and oily on the tip. I’m suspecting a head gasket.

Did this fix work as I have the same problem,?...but I have to wait an hour to cool down before I can restart it.

On another subject that drove me crazy, time master very difficult to start after sitting all winter: I always ran the gas out at season end but now I also drained the carb bowl (by removing bolt on bottom)... always starts on 2nd pull now.
