I will be doing this project also. Had to buy a new Timemaster because my old one died and I didn't have time to rebuild the old one. Will be restoring the old one this Winter, so I have a backup. Thanks for the video.
My Timemaster has the bigger engine. Just bought it for $800 with less than two seasons on it. It was as if they guy never used it. Power isn't an issue with deep grass as long as it is not wet. But what absolutely sucks is the small fuel tank. I have to refuel 3-4 times when cutting the lawn once.
The ruts this thing makes it pretty crazy. I don't know if it's because I have clay soil but the ruts are terrible. This thing almost needs pneumatic tires!
From what I'm seeing online, the ferris msrp is $3800 if I'm not mistaken. Definitely looks like a solid machine, especially if it has reverse. I don't think I've ever seen one of those before.
The Ferris FW15 is BADASS. Only thing I’m not a super fan of is the things weight. But it’s literally an actual lawn mower with a walk behind hydro pulling it around so it’s not that bad. Better than the high dollar ass scag 30” I was gonna scoop. Ima flip my time waster one of the days and scoop a fw15 I think, but honestly I try and skip any type of push mowing in general tbh
Here’s the new blocker I put on both my Ferris 36” stander and now on my 52 also, love it compared to my old advanced chute th-cam.com/users/shortsGdmaX7fYLMI?si=Is_zxoWTzZ7A98XF
You should upgrade your Blade brake clutch parts to the Turfmaster ones. Pretty much a bolt-in. Might need to switch one bolt for a longer one and add a nut & washers. Since then I have never had all the worn v-belt issues I used to have. My Kohler CV224 has run great for the past 3 years. With that filter my oil still looks clean at the end of the season! (Only mowing my property though!) I don't waste my money on the expensive Kohler filters & oil though....WIX, Oregon, Briggs all have compatible oil filters, and any good synthetic oil of proper viscosity (with a touch of added ZDDP, if desired) is all that is needed to keep that puppy happy.
Damn son you gots some racing slick tires on that thing don’t ya lol. Nice upgrade tho, stock motors suck on the timemaster. I just motor swapped my mcclane reel mower with new predator hemi go cart engines from harbour freight and she’s nasty. Might be doing this to my time waster
Lol got some Mickey Thompsons on there to help keep traction with this awesome motor 😄. I was gonna buy new wheels but those things are stupid expensive. For around $100 bucks those motors are solid. Did a predator motor swap on my go kart back in the day.
@@TheMoreYouMOW gotta get that 60ft time down man I totally understand the Mickey option, good call. @@TheMoreYouMOW oh and yes yes I know the dang tires 🛞 for these mowers, the factory ones are stupid expensive, they act like they should cost what tires on a damn car would cost mane. One of my clients was tossing out his old HRX Honda mower that had a fresh set of mickeys on there, he gave me the mower for free, so I went online and found a set of clone factory tires for like 16 each instead of like 28 they wanted for the Honda tires
@slowb4lls1 I saw where someone cut up old bicycle tires and screwed them on. I don't think I can bring myself to do that even though I considered it a time or 2. I really don't notice it losing traction at all. I mean my yard is relatively flat, but I could see it being an issue if you mow on a hill. Gotta love Kansas 🤣
That I wouldn't know of since my timemaster never had electric start or a battery. I'm sure someone with more experience in that department will comment
I just did this on my 20200 Electric Start model, the Answer is NO. The Kohler CV224-3002 is pull start only and has no starter. In fact I pulled the key start, harness and the battery off of mine. I had never opened the battery compartment on mine and it was full of wet grass that was starting to corrode the deck so I am glad it is gone.
You can make anything fit if you really try 😉. I would say if you don't want to drill out your deck, you will need to measure the distance between the 3 tapped holes to mount the motor to the deck vs. the current bolt pattern of your current mower deck. People use this motor on the timemaster because it is a direct replacement with no deck modifications needed
@@TheMoreYouMOW Yes, but not if the motor has the wrong output shaft diameter. Learned that the hard way trying to put a Harbor Freight Predator engine on a John Deere reel mower.
If I remember correctly the 3001 does NOT come with a gas tank whereas the 3002 DOES come with a gas tank. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I would go with the 3002
Do you have a part # on that Kholer CV224? I would like to call Small Engine Suppliers and order one of these for my Timemaster. Just want to make sure I'm ordering the right one. Thx!

@@leadnsteel1428 Toro uses a timed deck to make a more compact mower ,you get your blade overlap with them side by side. Staggering the blades does the same thing but makes the deck longer but has a less expensive drive system . The best cutting and bagging is the single blade 28 like a Ybravo but it makes for a longer mower than the Toro and takes more power to run versus the shorter blade like the Toro uses that let them use a smaller engine to make it lighter.

Might put the Kohler on the new mower and put the new Briggs on the older mower. Good move?
I would put the Kohler on the old mower as long as everything else is fine. If you have a warranty on the new mower, swapping the motor may void it.

I have the commercial hdx. You’re going to like the new power. My only regret is the heavy deck ruts as you know.

The Ferris FW15 needs a larger tank and a quick chute but for the same price it has reverse

I painted the deck. It was pretty rough originally

No, I just use the yellow handle that comes on the motor. I just have to old kill switch wire zip tied to the handle
