I know :) Its a heaven for film makers, editors, cinematographers or anyone interested in film making. By the way, you are probably the first Indian origin man who commented here :D good ! People often don't realise the true worth of things.
You got a great interview with her. She is really this gracious and generous, and “on”, in person. I was fortunate enough to spend three days with her and speak in depth about RB, LAST TEMPTATION, AFTER HOURS, GOODFELLAS, and CASINO and she would say, “Oh, something else of interest I thought of regarding your question on LAST yesterday… .” I adored her. Marty is really an editor and they’re so synched, he trusts her implicitly but it’s largely the case that they’re symbiotic in the cut.
Such a lovely, smart, genuine, intelligent, talented lady 🖤 The admiration and mutual respect between them two is palpable. Dream partnership! I could listen to her talk about her work and Marty for hours ✨️
She is so fortunate to know and work with Scorsese. They make a great team. I would love to hear her speak about The King of Comedy. I subscribed, thank you.
I watched 3 times, read the books, research the Wolf and I am currently going to watch it again XD This movie inspired me to pursue a career in business, talking about the huge impact of cinema.
I would pay anything to see the extended improvs from Wolf of Wall Street. Everyone was absolutely hilarious. Margot Robbie should have won an Oscar for her "Duchess" performance. "Who's Venice? Who? WHO? Who? WHO? Who-o-o-o? What are you Jordy --- a f&cking owl?" [Splashes Leo in the face w another glass of water] 🤣
Thelma , je bent zoals zoals mijn oma's [en ik heb ze allevier gekend], de ongelooflijke liefde voor het leven, dat wat ik niet zie, maar voel tussen de lijnen van Martin S.. Who knows... Komt het ooit nog goed.❤.
A rare opportunity to pick the brains of a great editor who has collaborated for decades with a great director. Unfortunately, much of the opportunity was lost because the interviewer has no meaningful questions to ask. Next time, maybe learn a little about what an editor does and prepare some educated questions before doing the interview.
You're so funny. Let me try to explain why it is long: 1) The movie is all about excess, it's an excess roller coaster. The length works well along with that idea. 2) It's a modern american epic. The movie has a huge nature in itself. Plus, every scene is great and enjoyable. What are you criticizing exactly?
3:26 it turned out to be a comedy because of the usual over the top overacting by DiCaprio. Sometimes I think he should be remembered every day he’s on set that less is more. He also ruined Once upon a time in Hollywood as far as I’m concerned.
outstanding. is it me or is the triumvirate of legendary editors Schoonmaker (scorsese), Sweeney (lynch), and Menke (tarantino)? great stuff...it seems that perhaps women have more opportunities in the world of editing.
Najam I am now regretting when in 3rd of medicine you asked me I want to marry with you and I said are you stupid I never see you like this and you said iam serious . I never serious with any guy . I was laughing
Great video! A truly fantastic film editor and the collaboration with Martin Scorsese has given us some absolute gems over the years. I have created The Wolf of Wall Street re-imagined trailer on my channel - check it out if you like :)
There is no way that this lady can be described as an Editor. This film is a classic example of how a second rate film can destroyed by lazy, incompetant, and ineffectual editing. It should have been cut down to 2 hours at most. I shall be quoting this as an example of the worst editing I have ever seen for many years to come.
She seems so young spirited, it’s badass
Most underrated channel on youtube. PERIOD. As always, superb interview of a great editor.

Excellent interview, Thelma Schoonmaker is an amazing editor. Wolf of wall street was edited so well the pacing was energetic that flowed beautifully.
Batman creeping in the background
If i am not wrong..it's Batman from the animated series that came out from 1992
Couldn’t focus. I had to use the zoom to fill so it cropped out batman.

Not only talented and passionate about her craft, but she seems like such a nice person too!! ;)
Thelma rocks. Excellent sit-down.

So much better than all the video essays around.... Substantial.
because doing video essays is a fad and people hide little substance behind some fancy editing, they usually have some pointlessly obvious point
Her work is what first made me "aware" of what editing truly is for a film - an art in and of itself.
A Master Editor
The editing in The Aviator is so fucking flawless
🙌🙌🙌
Great editor. Great woman. Beautiful collaboration between the two of them.
She is so fortunate to know and work with Scorsese. They make a great team. I would love to hear her speak about The King of Comedy. I subscribed, thank you.

loved that she mentioned Sunset Boulevard one of my all time favourites
This 70s dudes get cooler and cooler the more they get old 😎🤘🔥
Thelma you are behind the great energy of Scorsese's movies. Amazing editor, maybe the best in my opinion
She's an honorary fellow at my university! So cool!
15:45 Oh, Thelma.
One of the best channels on TH-cam :)
Keep it up
22:54 to 23:06 - I agree, but harshly enough I did experience this when I saw the Irishman. Clearly the influence of de Niro as producer.
Genius who works with genius a beautiful collaboration

Thelma Is Essential.
Thelma is a Goddamn treasure!
❤. 35mm. Electricity or water flows through. You 2, are magic! ❤.
shes really a genius.
Great interview.
she is inspiring
We both were very family oriented
Magic Interview.

Normalize your audio!
😂 you’ve said that before
Great channel. Keep it up.
29:45 - That is why its compared to Goodfellas. Because a good Scorsese film wants to be seen over and over
thank you10min10s

How much appreciation of ather I can not believe that
Iam freaking out
Really interesting stuff on the comparison to 'Goodfellas'
Is the next one "Silence" or "The Irishman"? I'm hoping "The Irishman." Scorsese needs to have a reunion with De Niro and Pesci.
Welp, he did
How did you know about the Irishman? Your comment is 7 years old😂
@@zachj2728 It's been planned since 2010.
she must of fallen asleep when she was editing . wall street runs for three hours
Legend
Funny how there all these movies about Wall Street but not one, NOT ONE, about the Fed.
Let her fucking speak, Poland.
the interviewer should prepare better questions for next time....
This film had an editor?
What kind of question is that?
Chris Gatewood I think he is being sarcastic. He's referring to the film's length.
well it used to be 4 hours long so....
No. This is made up.
You're so funny.
Let me try to explain why it is long:

I would add Dede Allen to that list. She cut Bonnie and Clyde, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Reds, and many others.
Bajam was the ost richest guy that time
goddess
Dikke zoen Thelma!
Cannnot wait untill October.
I totally get wanting to burn Goodfellas. Great movie, but people are so stuck on it.
Is he treating her daughter like this
Oh my God allah I never thought I will go through this thigs
Is she has daughter
Najam I am now regretting when in 3rd of medicine you asked me I want to marry with you and I said are you stupid I never see you like this and you said iam serious . I never serious with any guy . I was laughing
24:00 This is why i don't like Dickens or the Coen brothers.
Spoilers alert!
She reminds me of "Aunt Bea".
Great video! A truly fantastic film editor and the collaboration with Martin Scorsese has given us some absolute gems over the years.
I have created The Wolf of Wall Street re-imagined trailer on my channel - check it out if you like :)
