YES!! It was a really strong immersion technique. It kept the thesis of the video in mind and while presenting the evidence throughout. Good job Wisecrack.
i've gotten so used to disembodied Jared, i now have to get used to regular Jared. the f/x are definitely helping my mind make the transition. good job guys.
Imagine he’s actually in WoWS, House of Card style, listening to Jordan fouling others and turning to the actual audience to say “Now this is capitalism...”
I thought you said "this comment is simply amazing!!" lol. I agree with the original and misinterpretation, and would add that THIS comment is simply amazing as well. Because I am a mastermind of language, interpretation, and misinterpretation language, therefore, the language is clearly the defining factor of the clear written clearness of clarity among my interpretation of the mastermind. The mastermind collective that is. That is all, and all shall become, the, mastermind, of the collective mastermind consciousness of masterminds.
Imagine if he said: "They're painfully ugly foolish dumb idiotic stupid as the dimwitted dip shit slobbering knuckle dragging mouth breathing looking people... just look at'em! Just look at'em! And that one looks like he's constipated." Damn, man! Take it easy.... you ain't some rock'n hot shit either, you David Spade but even more nappy haired look alike... just take it easy.
this is like film theory mixed with film deconstructionism but the tourist idea I think it's the most interesting way I've seen done when it comes to film deconstruction since nerdwriter or entertain the elk. I like that you purposely differentiate yourself from video essays in this format.
I don’t know why it took a year for this to be recommended to me, but I love it. It looks like you guys thought this was a bust, but I think it’s worth another shot.
I really liked the effect you created, sitting in the movie itself. Nice style! Might I suggest a directionality of voice when someone is on screen (so it sounds like they're in the room), rather than the narration omnipresence like the rest of the time.
Dude! When I saw you blended in the crowd, I immediately thought: "Oh, this REALLY IS something new." Great job! I'd love to see you on a tricycle in "The Shining," while explaining a concept with a stern face.
Julian Kinne right, the editing alone is a massive reason why I want this show to continue lol... The content is great too but I want to see how else they insert him (or other hosts) into other movies... I'm sure it'll be amazing like this one was and I'm sure it took an insane amount of work/editing to do as well as they did
This new format is great! It's unbelievable this level of edition is available for free in TH-cam! Good luck with this awesome new line of hard work, and I hope that your scripts keep being good, apart from this eye-catching editing!
I also thought it was a bit distracting, but Ive never seen the wolf of wall street, so maybe ill feel differently when he is in scenery that I'm more familiar with. I freaking love this channel and am gonna watch all of all of their shows.
That was so damn cool. It’s like explaining the movie from inside the movie. Not so much breaking the fourth wall as making you a part of it. Look forward to the next one!
I've been a fan of your for a while, and this is one of the best, and best-looking videos you guys have ever made. The editing is fantastic and the content is really inspired. Keep it up!
Great edited video! My thoughts were exactly on #1 after having the screen pause on the people. Reminded me that everyone no matter the ethnicity, age, male or female, short or tall is going after success. With 3 people giving similar answers it's just a reminder of how we're all the same with the mediocre habits living mediocre lives looking for someone else to come and change our lives for us.
Good work on not only the spoken content of the video, but on the technical qualities of the video itself. That's a lot of effort to match camera angles to pull this off so well, and the person behind it, especially the pan over the crowd to insert the speaker so seamlessly, is a genius and should be lauded. Great video, thanks!
People here are commenting on your editing skills which are great but I really like the details you give on the ending scene which really is the crux of the movie for me.... Im happy you picked it, but you forgot another scene just before this ending sell me this pen scene. That scene is even more powerful as it shows in contrast the hero of the movie, the incorruptible FBI agent who refused bribe offer earlier in the movie finally succeeding in putting Jordan behind the bars, not for himself but for the society's greater good. Yet he is going back home all alone and gloomy while watching an old couple sitting right in front of him, all gloomy and cold, making him realize that he is looking at his future destiny right in front of him that he will continue to travel in that subway till death in that mediocre life. In contrast, Jordan with all his excesses and evils will continue to be loved and admired by common public who will happily get fleece by listening to his lectures. What a brilliant and powerful ending scene!
Funny that you see the subway scene like that. I saw it more as an appreciation of the old couple who represent all normal people which were given justice. I see it as the dude admiring or observing the very people that he works for, it doesn't seem as gloomy future, to me its just the peace of a job well done.
Lol do you truly think that they "FoRgOt" the scene? The entire idea behind the show is picking ONE scene, and analyzing it's significance. .... There was even reference to the scene you're bringing up.... There is no way it was "fOrGoTtEn" lol IMO
I am so happy you pointed this out! Thank you, I totally agree and what a brilliant way to illuminate this to us.This is the way our culture is, but it doesn't have to stay that way. Each of us has the power in our daily lives, through our actions, to strive and work toward a vision of good rather than self-gratification and excess!
Great !!! I liked the format. It is nice to see Jered in the scenes, it makes alive! First time I comment on wisecrack and I will tell you something, it is one of the best things I learned about recently. In less than a month I saw all 8 bit philosophy, most of earthling cinema, a lot of thumb notes, deep or dumb and the philosophy behind everything. Your channel is awesome, I learned about by the School of Life and could not stop watching ever since. It is nice to see that you can still find meaning and much more in a lot of pop content that we like but never thought that deep about it. Congratulations guys, you made TH-cam better
Love the series, editing, message, everything! Fantastic addition to the lineup! Little weird having you (Jared) so front and center now, but I think it's a good change.
Most channels when they grow up they buy a new RED camera or blackmagic to shoot some cinematic footage that they could shoot with a $600 📷... You did something really good by injecting (a la holmes style) the detective into the scene. Hats off.
Why am I seeing this in 2020 but it was posted in 2018?? The quality of this format is GodTier. You guys have elevated what I expect from TH-cam creators. I mean dear lord this was so beautifully shot, edited, written, just executed so flawlessly. Congrats guys!
It's okay. Felt a bit shallow. Ironically not because it's about one scene. The analysis didn't feel like it went much deeper than the surface level. I suppose it's difficult to do more than this with one scene, but it could stand to reference more external material to expand upon the concepts being discussed.
Thing is, the analysis of the scene is good but to frame it as changing the meaning of the film is silly and frankly clickbait. Changing it from what? It just IS the meaning of the film.
Well, it's not like they CAN'T do that, considering all of thir body of work. It was a choice regarding the scene and what it can evoke. I guess we grew used to their level of analysis, and now... we hunger for it. Deeper and deeper analysis.
Agreed. For instance when they talked about the french philosopher saying the people enjoy being exploited, all they did was say that they enjoyed it. They enjoyed having their identities crushed. They never went into why he thought people might enjoy being crushed or made any effort to prove that that was the case. Calling the analysis a bit shallow is a fair assessment imo, Good show. it may take a little while to find a real flow.
How did you make yourself look so immersed in those scenes? It doesn’t look like a normal green screen. Are like some of the items or things you interact with in the scenes real?
Correct. With the right projector, it's possible to make certain items in movies become real, like parked vehicles, theater seats, and cash. They simply used this common technique to put themselves inside the movie, rather than for its usual purpose of duplicating expensive cars or counterfeiting money.
Damn the amount of time that went into the greenscreening and lighting of these shots is amazing. If you've got the time and crew to keep making videos like this, I'm here for every one of em.
It's kind of pathetic in itself to bother yourself to comment about how pathetic his comment was, even if it clearly doesn't matter. Also the "!" is a reversed "i" in this case.
I liked it, and the fancy Forrest Gump effects, but I think it would be better toning it down a bit. There were too many inserts and it kind of became distracting at times. I'd limit it to a few longer ones rather than a large number of shorter ones if it was me.
The 'new format' was greatly executed, and the context of side-clips where you were buried in money wasnt too shabby either, lol keep evolving ya'll. Wisecrack: An Education for Food for Thought
It's rare for me to see a green screen on TH-cam that actually convinces me that the person is in the scene, but damn this was close.
I know! Right? Look really, really good! Best green screen effect on TH-cam!
us I thought you guys did a great job, (first time viewer) but I bought Wolfies silly real-estate course, I think.
It's because they went to the effort to actually replicate the scene lighting and other effects from the green screen video, which is rad as hell
YES!! It was a really strong immersion technique. It kept the thesis of the video in mind and while presenting the evidence throughout. Good job Wisecrack.
Good lighting does it well
I'm sure it added a lot to the cost of production, but working Jared into the movies was kinda awesome.
420 no touch
That was crazy when I saw him
Seeing Jared inserted in some portions of the movie while explaining things is so great and ingenious.
kirby march Barcena yea it looked so Perfect!
i've gotten so used to disembodied Jared, i now have to get used to regular Jared. the f/x are definitely helping my mind make the transition. good job guys.

Check out the perverts guide to ideology by slavoj zizek if you like that trick.
Ok putting yourself in the scenes that actually looks realistic while narrating was amazing. Got my sub.
this new format is awesome! keep up the content!!
Man! This content is simply amazing!! Keep em coming!!

djacks247 he’s not talking about how they look in reality but how they are meant to look in that scene. But that sounds a bit harsh huh😂

I can already tell this series will be great. And editing was fantastic!
Umbrella Man agreed
agreed x2
How does he do that? Put himself in scenes from movies. It seems it's more than just green screen
green screen + right light setup.

Yep!

i thought so too! the person on the left looks a lot like jonah hill so i thought they were the real people but i guess not
Really cool format. Looking forward to more from this series!

This is incredible. Top notch analysis as always, but aesthetically a huge leap forward in video essay info-tainment.

Holy crap dude. The production value in this video is kick ass. You guys did an excellent job and I'm looking forward to more.
I don’t know why it took a year for this to be recommended to me, but I love it. It looks like you guys thought this was a bust, but I think it’s worth another shot.
It's the same thing they always do but overly produced and probably 10x more expensive. Just seems unnecessary.
When someone actually makes a quality youtube video 10/10

This is one of the most interesting youtube comments ive ever seen
Maybe you should try it out too

Best green screen effect ever. My god. This channel is full of gems like this, not to mention their best-in-class reviews. Amazing job guys

I can’t handle this level of editing.
Awesome editing and very thought provoking. Nice work guys!
Yo green light all that ish, I've learned more from wisecrack than I did in high school. Thank you all for the knowledge.
loooved the format. Now THIS is a true video essay, not just a bunch of clips pasted together with a background voice. Good quality stuff 😊
This is seriously so amazing!!
You really need to bring these videos back. The seamless editing makes it feel so enthralling
The effort to views ratio probably didn't justify it in the end. They should've flipped some plastic bottles instead.
The editing was truly remarkable!
Julian Kinne right, the editing alone is a massive reason why I want this show to continue lol... This new format is great! It's unbelievable this level of edition is available for free in TH-cam! Good luck with this awesome new line of hard work, and I hope that your scripts keep being good, apart from this eye-catching editing!
It's so good, it's distracting
Probably only because its the first of its kind, and a pilot. I personally found it enhanced most parts of the content by adding visual context.
I also thought it was a bit distracting, but Ive never seen the wolf of wall street, so maybe ill feel differently when he is in scenery that I'm more familiar with. I freaking love this channel and am gonna watch all of all of their shows.
Agree, format is getting in the way of content.

That was so damn cool. It’s like explaining the movie from inside the movie. Not so much breaking the fourth wall as making you a part of it. Look forward to the next one!
This video is sooo good! Great work!
I’m all about the series, but only if you keep putting Wisecrackers in movies via green screen.
Dalton Skinner lol
Dalton Skinner same, is litt

WOW, you had to match the ilumination to put yourself into the scene. That is love for detail. Awesome
The editing alone makes this worth doing more.
That part really blew me away.

illuFX couldnt agree more on that

I absolutely love this format!! Really good editing, be careful about the lighting though.
I'm gonna binch some wisecrack now!!
Woah, I really thought I was bugging when I saw you in the film, and then I saw the car scene, whoever composited those shots together did a good job.
I didn't remember the guy from Wisecrack being in that movie.
100% nailed the green screen editing. Congratulations, you're better than 99% of the cinema industry VFX professionals.
