What a wonderful job you have done, with these two masterpieces of art, (the music and the film). Many thanks. Que maravilloso trabajo haz hecho, con estas dos obras maestras de arte, ( la música y la película). Muchísimas gracias.
I have just returned home from the funeral of a very special young man, who died an untimely death. This music was played at the start of the service and I will never forget the impact it had on me. So soothing, yet so immensely sad. It touches the very core of one's heart.
One of the best songs to throw on some quality headphones and walk in the woods to. Vangelis is up there with John Williams for me when it comes to evoking emotion.
This song always brings calmness. Im a light sleeper and can't fall asleep that easily. I always put headphones on and when this song comes on it takes me away and im gone before i know it.
She could have played Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark, unfortunately for her (and for us!) she was in the group casting with Tom Sellekck, who was the favorite for the role of Indiana Jones but as we know he must quit due to the contract for the Magnum tv series. And while we all love Ford as Indi, how beautiful Marion would be if Sean Young played her ... Eh we can only dream about it... - And admire her in Blade Runner!
Yeah, there are some films where the music score is essential to the experience, and an integral part of why it works. Blade Runner for me is an experience that exists primarily in the juxtaposition between the dystopian neon future depicted and the warmth and beauty of Vangelis's score. Had the score emphasized rather than countered the harshness it would have been a radically different experience. The whole film feels suffused in a warm glow...ultimately it is a film about humanity, or what it is to be human, to be sentient, to love, fear and have feelings. To feel the fragility of life, and to revel in your time (as Tyrell would put it). Vangelis's score brings this home. Ultimately, and perhaps paradoxically as a synthesizer-based score, it's one of the warmest and most human musical scores ever created for a movie.
TitanFind What a great comment, I agree completely. The dichotomy of the harsh, gritty, future city and the comforting, almost relaxing score really make the experience rather unique.
the film was by itself classic and have jump started a genre but the vangelis scores ? i think both the film and musical are of whole diff worlds and the two combine makes them eerie and fantastic all the same . .seeing the future and our past together . . .anyway back when no internet and etc . . . . i got my first copy of vangelis way back in early 90's .. . in cassete and CD . . i still have them and can't regularly play the casstete as these platforms arent around anymore. one day the cassete will become brittle and will be lost. in the story, rachelle was created to last . . though program not to be overly perfect, had flaws by memory and emotions but was built to last .. . .
My Dad was always on at me to watch Bladerunner. Lent me the VHS and then the DVD like loads of times. I regret not watching it now. But I do have your cassette tape of Cosmos (Carl Sagan) and happily repeat what Vangelis did. Thanks pops.....I get it now :-) xxx
This is dreamlike song, and it somehow brings me feelings from deep childhood. I think of it as of the best track from OST. And I'm even glad that it wasn't used in film.
Y'know, I know people say it's a sinister line, but I only thought that on my first watch. The more I think about it, Gaff wasn't issuing a threat or making a snide remark- he's actually encouraging Deckard to do it. Too bad she won't live for long given their short lifespans, but hey, who gives a shit, everyone dies, so you do you.
My goodness, the epicness of this is monumental spectacular. Simply, i had to hold my jaw with my hand listening to this because it would of hit the floor and smashed lol. The great thing about music is it can be interpretated as you see fit. This composition hit hard on the emotions, it demands your attention, it draws you in, mesmorises and encapsulates you with it's haunting ear of melody. Vangelis really was a diamond amongst so many stones added with an irony of how can a piece of music be so sad to listen to yet sparkle so bright. Genius music mind. Bravo to you, You done Blade Runner fans very proud with this. 👏👏👏
There aren't many things anymore for a Greek like me to be proud of.Apart our history and the physical beauty of our country,it's nice to see that there are still many great Greeks and Vaggelis is definitely among them. His music inspired the electronica as a genre. This is by far the best soundtrack ever made!I 've been working for some time a video about a d&b tune, which is influenced by this movie and i just realize that it looks a lot with your video.Maybe i won't finish it.
To me the best most touching magical of other dimension soundtrack music. I saw it and never ever get tired of watching endlessly the best ( original) version. Simply bc is the best movie made ever. Sensual, w fantasy, w space ambience, futurist, the rainy city at night, neon lights...it is just SENSATIONAL. Hug! And the best: the Eye w Los Angeles 2019 and the sound of music and fire coming out the buildings, just Wow. In loved w this movie..🤩🤩
Such a great song, and especially thinking about the context. It is really such an ethereal blend between the slightly harmonically off bell sounds with machine-like rhythm, and the very human voice and melody which hints at human emotions.
hated by humans and also by replicants for being a blade runner. Deep down it shows the feelings of each one of us... sometimes we are loved, sometimes hated! The 2049 saga made me cry... like tears in the rain... so nostalgic! One of the best films of all time, when I watch both feature films I remember Vangelis... and his eternal music! Vangelis lives in our memories... through his cybernetic orchestra!
Was.... unfortunately ever since May of '22, our dear beloved countrymated Vangelis is not among us, anymore! The damn Chinese virus, took his life, while he was recovering at a Parisian hospital.....
Just saw this again in re-release, the Director's Cut 4k version. Every moment of that release reminds me why it's Ridley's Magnum Opus. It's so enveloping, moody and immersive and beautiful.
Continued: "Who am I, where do I come from? Where am I going? What does it all mean?" The fact that Ridley has not only the replicants, but in the end Rachel and Deckart "rebelling against man's fate" as it were-perfect.
Well Done corlackis! It's a lovely piece by Vangelis, haunting and evocative...and the imagery you chose were bang on! Mind, there aren't many images in this gorgeous movie that wouldn't suit beautiful ambient music! Again, BRAVO!
When I want peace..I play this track. It stills my discord...takes away the pains we all know in this world, which we are just "passing through". Moving on to horizons new. Vangelis is a spiritually inspired genius imo. His spirituality is beyond word, dogma or creed. A genuine universal spirit.
Sean young - perfect for the role of rachel ! - Beautiful ! - I was given the original version of BLADERUNNER for my birthday (23) - from my mom & dad I immediately fell in love with Rachel - I like all the versions but my fav is the talkover ?
first time i heard this vocals in a trance tune and i said what a melody...from them accidentaly i hear the original in here...and i was surprise that this is VANGELIS...i am greek and i feel very proud he is to....he is master and creator that will live for centuries....
La musica di Vangelis, colonna sonora della nostra vita. Nella fantastica canzone di Rachel quelle gocce, oggi, sono le lacrime di tristezza per la perdita del suo genio.
I was listening to "My Kingdom - The Future Sound of London" and felt the similarity of the vocals. So I wanted to listen to Rachels Song again. Didnt know the connection till I saw the synopsis above.
Just brilliant. This song along with Blade Runner = great. Kudos goes to you for your time & effort put into this. I'm honestly not a big fan of Blade Runner but clips like this along with this beautiful song makes me want to pull it out of my DVD collection, sit down and watch it again. Great job! 5/5 on this.
't Looks like Linda Evangelista, from 'the Library' episode from Doctor Who, was modelled after Rachel. :-) Excellent music and fantastic movie as well. ;-) Thanks for uploading this.
"Too bad she won't live..." but the irony was that Rachel, being a replicant so perfect as to be the perfect woman, would live forever, as she did not have the "Time to die" chip. There is so much in this movie. The subtle replicant acting that shows a replicant realizing humanness, with a human who is murderer of her kind.
It happened that I had the chance (some 17 years ago ?!?) to watch the VCR for a whole day, with a fine wine and cigars, and some coffee doctors only doctors use to drink, all by myself ... Again and again ... I simply dived into that matter! ... having in background the full soundtrack ... with all the curtains drawn ... "And I said to myself: What a wonderful" feeling!". It was like in "Artificial Intelligence" - That day last forever ! ...
Supersonico ascoltare una gran voce come quella di Rachel e un suono da potere sismico come il tuo grandioso Vangelis. Immagine pura di un mondo sistematicamente meraviglioso. Pace in tutti i sensi mi si apre il cuore e l'anima
What a wonderful job you have done, with these two masterpieces of art, (the music and the film). Many thanks.

So soothing, yet so immensely sad.
It touches the very core of one's heart.
This gets me every time . Hairs standing up on my arms/back of neck, the lot. Usually moves me to tears. Beautiful.
Thanks for everything Mr Vangelis! Rip
One of the best movies ever made and the soundtrack is amazing . You will never get anyone with natural talent such as Vengelis again. ❤️
One of the best songs to throw on some quality headphones and walk in the woods to. Vangelis is up there with John Williams for me when it comes to evoking emotion.
This song always brings calmness.
Im a light sleeper and can't fall asleep that easily.

beautiful Sean Young...how many people felt in love of her during this movie?? ^^
One of the most beautiful woman I ever seen
Me

Still love her...FOREVER...
Don't know how to say. but even the supposedly saddest songs by Vangelis I personally always found pleasant and soothing!
This film is a masterpiece, and the music plays a big part. It's haunting but soothing at the same time.

master vangelish
One of the best pieces of music ever made, one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Nuff said
THE BEST and GREATEST science fiction movie ever made, period.
(yes, even better than 2001 Space Odyssey)
Such a splendidly atmospheric track.
With the truly beautiful vocals of Mary Hopkin, famous for her song 'Those were the days my friend' , still making music today

NightXsenator there’s truth in your words...
I pulled this out on CD at 3:30 Am this morning and sat with the angels. What a score, what a film.
“It's too bad she won't live. But then again, who does?”
Y'know, I know people say it's a sinister line, but I only thought that on my first watch. @@HighLordBlazeReborn In a different point of view, Rachael never dies in Deckard’s heart. That’s why he lives alone in Blade Runner 2049.
BLADE RUNNER perfect movie; Vangelis, perfect music.... Sean Young perfect Woman, all is a piece of art. Thanks Ridley Scott.
She was quite a beauty but crazy. Her lunacy deserved her career.
And the perfect master Ridley Scott..
Vangelis ... Who else but Vangelis could have made this. Awsome...
My favourite Vangelis piece. The sound quality is magnificent too :-)
It's an awesome track, it's a shame they didn't use it as it feels right for Rachel's development
tdtmwmww 😈😴😨🐏🐴🐑🐁🐐🐑🐮🐏🐮⏳⛎🚯⏰🔛👕👒👜👝👡💄
Fantastic Mary Hopkin!
Having only ever heard this via FSOL's "My Kingdom" it just popped in my head and I thought it sure had a Blade Runner feel. Sure enough, here we are.

Damn I love Bladerunner...
Greatest piece of music to not get used in a movie
Thanks for sharing... Another little wonder of music from Vangelis... The angels voice singing is Mary Hopkin?? Man.. man..

the idea, the movie, the music - poetry
This song makes me smile and cry at the same time and I don´t know why. Yes, it is that good. Masterpiece.
A true masterpiece by a true genius!
Angel's voice :)
this piece makes me kinda relax and space out

Sounds so much better in widescreen!
beautiful job, Corlackis! :) Thank you!

Same here I heard it as a opening sample for Solarstone EOYC set, also it's been used other places in trance! wonderful track!
Ralph Fridge - Paradise
Where did you hear the sample? Please share the song
The future sound of London used sample from this vocal in "My Kingdom" track...check this out...

This is the song that comes to my mind when I visit an historical place or somewhere from a memory
Beautiful and epic soundtrack ❤ brilliant mix ❤
SHE is absolutely ... beautiful.
I expect this song to be played when I am on death-bed. This one is melancholic and same time soothing.
Just found your "Work of Art"! Many thanks to you. Rachel on,Cheers;)
yes!! it was a brilliant montage, i loved it!!
thanks so much I have often wondered where in the film and what it might have looked and sounded like thanks for sharing with us!
