New sub here. I really think this will help me. So... thanks. Im totally that guy throwing my whole body into the disc, losing momentum. Im breaking the plane with my whole body before release.
Great clinic! Got some explanations that I haven't seen on other similar videos so far, like nose down help and simple x-step guide! Thanks! Slow is smooth and smooth is far! :D
Personally, my final plant(brace) foot goes slightly wider than athletic stance to keep my momentum from going forward. Great, straightforward video! What he says about keeping shoulders, hips, and feet aligned is gold.
You can send him a message and set up a 2 disc challenge and instruction lesson in your town! Send him a message on facebook or thru Dynamic Discs' site.
@@AdamLindell I don't believe so. Do you think the terms draw and fade have hurt the adoption of ball golf? I don't think terms keep people from trying a sport.
Outstanding information new to this and just watched your form and already see many things in my own form as to what I was doing wrong thank you for the tip now to see if I can throw more accurate and increase my distance from currently 265 ft 😂
Exactly what I was looking for. Tips on keeping the nose down, went out today for some field work and that helped almost immediately with the disc sailing and stalling
Totally enjoyed this vid, I took every word in great detail, headed to the soccer field and applied the techniques You broke down for people viewing the vid. While some may feel it’s the same as all others... I have to say your had some additional key points that others don’t, and that’s why I will be sharing this vid to my friends, as your video just improved my throw, and distance by 50 feet, while that may not seem large to some,, but I was shooting 275-290 ft and applied some of your tips and am more in the range of 325-345. Super excited for this upcoming week at the fields... hoping to break 400 ft in the next 5 To 7 days By applying your key points. Thanks again.
What tips did he have that was new to you? And which ones gave you 50 feet ? I’m new to DG and struggling with BH drives. Any help would be much appreciated. 🥏
@@rl2769 for me it was the way he arched the disc down from the pre position to the reach back. So I literally used to try to place the disc down on my release, but by consciously doing it and locking that position from start to finish, it allowed me to ensure the disc was actually being released facing more down regardless of how high I ended up letting my follow thru go... hope that helps...
I've been watching disc throwing tutorials for months now and every time I think I learn something that's finally going to push me over the edge and be able to increase my distance I seem to just not progress. I just know one of these days something's going to click. I make that classic mistake that he mentions in this video of trying to put too much momentum in my run up and end up taking a huge step forward while releasing the disc.
Never heard anyone say to stop your body as you throw like hitting a brick wall for the energy transfer. I was definitely doing what you showed where my body keeps moving forward. Almost hit 300 yesterday, curious how much this will help. (been playing like 2 weeks now lol)
Great information! Thanks for posting this. Wish the camera stayed on him during his throw so I could see his form... didn't really care about where the disc went. What kind of shoes are those?
Hopefully sooner rather than later. In the mean time, check out this awesome clinic we covered with Nate Sexton and Sarah Hokom! th-cam.com/video/7JpY1m9vx2A/w-d-xo.html
Your hip will shift sideways at the very beginning, then once your weight has transferred to your front foot they will rotate. I just think about straightening my front leg and moving sideways, and the rotation just happens naturally. I'm not a pro, but I battled with this question for years and this is the mental cue that seems to put it all in place for me.
This is awesome. I've been struggling with strong-arming it for years (partly due to a bad knee on plant leg). I've recently tried to develop a whip-like feet-knee-hip-belly-shoulder twist...as that was the advice I had received many times. But I'm just not that torsionally flexible... This is mind-shattering, to keep knees-hips-shoulders as one unit for the spin. My main question is...my body doesn't know how to do that...having strong armed it for 20 years...... does anyone know if there are there any excercises or drills I can try to both teach my body what that feels like, and also strengthen my hip and core muscles for that motion?
Actually makes so much sense. I’m left handed and all I throw are mid-ranges because I accidentally Hyzer bomb drivers. D: I’ve been working on my shots tho. This probably will help.
Thanks for the vid. In the future while filming. I would suggest you focus more on the form of the thrower and not where the disc is going. Get him in full frame head to toe. This is so you can look at his form. Thanks.
@@jahjahjack I'm just talking about watching Ken's form rather than Will's. Ken Jarvis has near perfect form, just pure efficiency and effortless distance. I'd only recommend watching Will's form from before 2015 pre-shoulder injury. Will's current form is not something I'd recommend, but his older form is great.
Excellent video! I learned alot, and great to see amazing distance with grip variation. Thanks!

keeping the BACK edge of disc down!! Great insight. Thank you J Ray
How many people will show up here in light of the recent news... still tho this guy can crush. Respect
Thanks for the shout-out JayRay!!

Met J Ray last year at a clinic in Maine. Really nice guy and very helpful. The tweaks he suggested for my form added at least 50 feet to my distance.
This was a great clinic for me, was glad I could make it. Sorry Max got in a couple of your shots!

thats why they are there learning and asking questions.
They are stupid names and probably hurt disc golf adoption

Keep at it Derek. What is the barrier you are trying to break? Is it distance or accuracy?
Are you my doppelganger? I feel exactly the same every time I watch one of these videos, lol. We'll get it one day...
