JLC manages wait list very professionally. I was told how many months and where I am on the list. I received my watch slightly early as the person ahead of me passed. Super happy with boutique in Canada.

I hope the trend for smaller continues, I'm a man, I'm 6'1" and I still prefer watches that are as small as 34mm.
We've had too many years now of large watches, we need a change and smaller does look more tasteful.
As for quartz, I really do hope that they continue to make a comeback. I love quartz, I love the history of quartz, and I love the more high end complications like thermo compensation. In so many ways to me a good quartz movement is so much cooler than a basic mechanical movement, I'm happy to pay more for a great quartz watch. So I do hope we see more quartz in the future.

It was great seeing you receive the pink dial OP from Kai. I don't think I've seen a happier person in my life, and it was really sweet to see. 😊 Like you said, that watch could easily be enough "by itself" (of course you add a g-shock or other beater). Lately I've also been feeling quite satisfied with my watches, which is nice. It helps because I took up an interest in watch service/repair, and the tools are a bit of an expensive rabbit hole there! Anyway thanks for the great W&W coverage, and best wishes to you & Kai. 👍

Safety deposit boxes here in America actually have waitlists 😂
Lots of people apply for them, and banks typically only give them to their longest customers. Not to mention, when they finally offer you one, it’s most of the time not the size you want.

Got into watches a couple years ago and inevitably started to gain interest in Rolex. After going to 4 different Rolex ADs I can say I will never purchase one, even at retail prices. The experience was the opposite of what I expect from purchasing a luxury item. If Rolex wants to cater to flippers and people who just want a status symbol I understand but I think excluding many collectors (the base of your market) will hurt the brand in the long run.

I think you make some good points, Jenni. I do think that with today's current economic conditions, it's no secret that there have been quite a few bank failures and there will be more to come. Personally, I'd find an alternative for secure storage outside of the home if necessary. When a bank fails, all the "assets" are frozen which includes the contents of safe-deposit boxes.
    GREAT watch BTW!

Having one watch is like owning one book, and stopping at that. Watches have so many variables; size, weight, colours, contrast, straps / bracelets, chunky vs slimline etc. When I went into hospital, then I took one of my Casios and left my glasshutte original at home. My daily wear is a Seiko Prestige.. It's horses for courses. I can't afford Rolex, but I think that German watches are better made.

A psychology video would be interesting but I think it’s also a very personal thing. The largest part of my collection is vertical (one model within one brand, specifically vintage Heuer Carreras) and a big part of the motivation was researching and cataloguing the variations, which would even feature for most watch collectors, certainly not for brands that have better catalogued their own history. There’s a lot of variety even in my small corner of the watch collecting world though and that’s part of the fun!

I think it has just been the trend over the last 15-20 years, people have this bigger is better mentality, I have seen people wearing watches that look downright goofy/ridiculous on their smaller wrist size yet here they are rocking a deep sea or 44+mm Panerai, I myself prefer smaller watches as I have a 6.5-inch wrist, my 42mm Pelagos sometimes looks a little big, IMHO once under a 7-inch wrist you should be in the 34-42mm range and I think we will see this trend of bigger watches going the other way over time as people are starting to wake up to these huge watches and just how silly they can look for those with small to medium wrist size, I always tell friends to buy for there wrist size.

I can’t speak for anyone but myself but on the psychology of watch collecting. I started 6 years ago after my mum died, she said to me “time is the most important thing, people don’t realise it until they don’t have enough of it left!”
Me collecting is an ode to my mums memory, also, it makes me feel good to own something of value, the whole “treat yourself” vibe. Plus watches don’t fade in the way all other things do, the craftsmanship etc. I also like the “If you know you know” feel around watches like my IWC BP 43… only other collectors will notice and I love that.
