Journey fronted by AP was excellent. Musta been hard filming AP because he works the stage. He's energetic with dancing, leaping and moving around to the delight of the audience. AP is really awesome and the band and him play beautiful music together. Good show Journey & AP.
Hey there, Sean! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I agree that Arnel sounds great with Journey. It seemed pretty clear to me that he and the other members of Journey are a good fit for one another. Arnel looked and sounded like what he is, a talented singer, living the dream and savoring every moment of it. I felt as if there was almost something magical about performing to a hometown crowd at America's Cup Pavilion in San Francisco, where it all began for Journey... in The City By The Bay.
This was a great concert. 2nd one since I saw them at Palms, Las Vegas on 8/29/13 This is a better video though because it captures Arnel's fantastic performance from the front view. Great voice, wonderful dancing and awesome leaps. Both concerts were entertaining. I want to see a 3rd concert, here out West.
What a great performance! Arnel Pineda sounds great with Journey. Thanks for bringing us this awesome show Tim. The video is so clear and the sound is great!
You're welcome, aquariusladyful. I enjoy making and sharing my videos on TH-cam and it's always good to hear from people who let me know what they like or don't like about my videos. Arnel Pineda is outstanding in Journey. I'm glad that you are proud to be a Filipino because of Arnel. But, I'd just like to point out that you also have all sorts of other good reasons to be proud to be a Filipino. You are one of those reasons. Your kind comments to me are much appreciated. Take care! :)
Thank you, jem As. If you're interested in seeing more of the Journey Concert at America's Cup Pavilion, I just discovered another channel that apparently had better luck recording the Journey concert at America's Cup Pavilion, without being harassed by security. Check out the channel by concertkid2.
Hey kababayan!!! Bravo Pinoy rockstar!! We are proud of you for representin' so well. We are glad you are living your dream & have a nice wife & children. You did excellently with your gift that God gave you. Just awesome Arnel... Ang galling mo!
Hi, Tess. I'm sure you're right about that. I actually thought about the question some more and I realize that I've lived in and around San Francisco fro so long, it's easy to take our weather for granted and almost forget that our climate is so different from other nearby areas of California and other parts of the world, especially in the summer months when it is cool here and hot in most other areas. I lived in Thailand for a year when I was in the Air Force. I remember that tropical heat.
It actually wasn't cold at all that day, elevatorman17. The high temperature in San Francisco on September 16th was 70 degrees. It was probably still in the mid to upper 60s during the concert, shortly after sunset. I don't know why Arnel was all bundled up. I wore a jacket to the concert just in case I needed it, but I took it off as soon as I got there.
Thanks for the upload. He is so slim and one would really wonder where he gets his energy and voice. I read from an interview that from the start (2007) when he joined the band, they have a timetable to go on hiatus by 2016. He can rest his voice and take care of his business, then. Too bad you have a camera that is very good, but thank you anyway. one is better than none at all. I am here in Philippines, by the way.
Arnel definitely works the stage and the audience. It wasn't really hard to follow him with my camcorder while he was performing... until security busted me and made me stop recording before Journey' first song was over. I was hoping to record the whole concert, but that didn't happen, unfortunately. Oh, well. Win some, lose some.
I agree, I like Arnel with short hair better...It's like a semi-Mohawk which makes him look cleaner & more youthful. I love it!...Of course he sounds good and performs excellently with long or short hair.
Sorry to hear you had that experience. I have had a lot of mixed experience bringing my camera to different shows, Journey overall seems pretty permissive, but they seem to go after people near the front who have nicer cameras
Thanks, I appreciate your comments. I've also had mixed experiences, but the shoddy treatment that I got from security at the Journey concert was by far the worst because of the unnecessarily arrogant way they went about it. I still love Journey, but the security thugs put a real damper on my experience. At the other end of the spectrum, I had a great experience at a Chuck Negron concert in Redwood City. I was able to record video of the concert without any problems. Soon after I posted "Chuck Negron ~ Easy To Be Hard (Live) 8/22/2012" on TH-cam, Chuck Negron made my day when he posted this comment on my video: "Thank you for recording this, I have posted it to my facebook!" Wow...
lesser power, but voice was still there.. considering the hard journey songs like this.. his other song in this event were still good.. check the other songs like open arms and faithfully in the same night he sang it still good..
I wish I had more Journey videos, but unfortunately Separate Ways was the only song I was able to record before security shot me down before the end of the first song. I had hoped I could record the concert and upload it to TH-cam, but a staff person spotted me and dragged me off to security, where I was accused of being a pro, with pro equipment, in it for the money. None of that is true, but they didn't believe me. I nearly got kicked out, but they let others around me keep recording...
Just two bservations, even Arnel had a good voice when he joined the band it looks like he is already losing it.(sad) In this video I think he is lip syn. There are almost no shots of his mouth and at the end he is covering the mouth. Also, I know that when Journey performed with Perry the used the best sound equipment and technology of that time, but it can't not be compared with what we have today.
He's definitely lost his voice. From what I've heard, Neal Schon usually sings these lead singers to the ground. Augeri had voice trouble and still doesn't sound the same. I have a feeling that's why Dean Castronova doesn't want to take over the reins as lead singer. Check him out on youtube. The guy can sing amazingly well.

Arnel is used to hot, humid weather of his tropical country, it was cold to him so bundled up. I saw this concert too.
Thanks!
Hey thanks, Anton! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great voice for Philippinal man.
