This announcer is a true professional - watching the most boring pokemon battle in history and he maintains his enthusiasm all the way through, I think we all know who the real champion is in this situation.
Surf's another good one. "There's a MASSIVE WALL OF WATER SPEEDING TOWARDS ME? I'm going to just stand still and it'll completely bypass me. It'll be fine."
Eventually bhe battlefield became overcrowded with Electrode after-images each with a Light Screen thick enough to withstand nuclear blasts and a single Nidoking standing hopelessly in the midst of it all.
This was me thinking, is that Fissure? But then I saw you use it more then 5 times and I was like "Wow you really missed 10 earthquakes in a row?" Even if he used Double Team its still complete bullshit. Sucks to lose all this time in your speed run.
Something I noticed (rlly random): in the english version of Pokemon Stadium has a different Nidoking model. Not sure why this is the case, but the model has a different idle animation too
Note that Double Team was nerfed for Pokémon Stadium. I assume this nerf was in place for the first game, though I might be wrong. Ignoring the 255/256 thing, the chance of 19 misses is: 25/100*34/100*50/100*57/100*64/100*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3*2/3 = 0.005310875% or 1 in 18,829.
First time actually seeing gameplay of Stadium 1 (JP), it's general presentation looks a lot more exiting than our Stadium 1/JP Stadium 2. Might load it on my everdrive and play it.
Years ago, I honestly didn't notice the change at first. Because the color of the body was just supposed to be something for the face to stand out on anyway. Either way, it still looks like that Japanese mountain demon or whatever.
Because this was a version of pokemon stadium that came out before ( like a beta ) with only a handful of mons available.. Never released out of Japan..
@@SonikkuAtrue disagree. The character models look bloated and less detailed. Werster almost called it after the second miss. He missed 19 times to hit an electrode twice and took 16 attempts to hit it once with 100% accuracy moves. (Technically 255/256 cause gen 1)
What's actually happening is that it doesn't want to explode until it has to. It is hoping for the Nidoking to switch. The AI in Pokemon Stadium is programmed differently
@@MazterP28 You can believe it all you want but it doesn't change the fact that it's how it works. They changed certain things for the programming to make the AI more difficult
@@MazterP28 I have pokemon stadium 1's cartridge and I play on emulators. But this very video proves that to be the case because Werster pointed out that the Electrode should of exploded at the start and how one before exploded against a Gyarados and he speedruns the game. The programming is not the same as the Game Boy. They did that so that the AI can be more difficult in fact the AI will switch out pokemons which correct me if i'm wrong is something they would not do in the game boy
I'm pretty sure I know exactly what happened here. The AI didn't have any good moves, so it double teamed. What Werster might have had to do was switch and bait some attacks so he wouldn't have to deal with repeated double teams.
Gen 1 AI is predisposed to super-effective move types, even if they don’t do any actual damage. That’s why it spammed light screen, it was using a super-effective move (psychic on poison).
That thing about Gen 1 AI only applies to the main games. In the Stadium games the AI knows that status moves don't do damage. It was spamming it because it didn't want to explode but also didn't want to switch and it also seems to get stuck on a move after a while.
The main reasons would be the lack of any minigames and a very limited amount of Pokémon to rent (only ~30?). With Stadium [2 in Japan] already being out, there wasn't much point to release the inferior first when the second did everything and did it all better.
So they make it so you can only hit it once every 20 turns, then raise its defense so it takes just as many hits to kill it. Who thought that would be fun?
Waz This version only has somewhere between 30-50 of the original 151 Pokémon, no minigames like the other Staidum games. Interestingly, the Pokémon in JP Stadium 1 were the ones most commonly used in competitive/link battling at the time
Ren Yuzu but it didn't just use 1 double team, ya it missed the first as well, but it's just bad luck. The hit chance on earthquake is 255/256 like every other gen I, 100% acc move.
