I love it when you show the blown up pictures of the heavy wire w the casings around it. I've been grabbing wires on trash day, while walking my dog (for my son, to strip and recycle.)
Brings back memories of my younger days dumpster diving. It’s amazing the good stuff companies, and even people, throw out. The Christmas light find was my favorite scene here.

I love guys like this---just think of all the things that are not going to a landfill because of him, to say nothing about the fact that he's recycling stuff that is easily converted into useful items.
So many people throw out everything. Copper tubes, wire, stainless and everything metal. The landfill is a good place to go. Not many places complain unless make a mess.

I think they use magnets at landfill sites to remove all the metal for recycle anyway, I could be very wrong though.
This guy deservers a medal for services to the environment, the amount of serviceable stuff that is thrown away I phenomenal

You could store stuff in the fridge. Lay it on its back in your truck and it’s perfect for storing wires, etc. Great you do this! ♻️

The thick cushion you trod on while you talked about the resmed parts, is a very dense, supportive foam. It’s particularly useful for people in wheelchairs to reduce the risk of bedsores, etc. Might be useful for some local charities- not for posting as they are quite heavy!
I understand what you’re saying but seat cushions are really not good for donating as they may have been urinated on or the other. Although they’re supposed to be water proof not always so.
@@deedeejohnson3452 my wheelchair cushion costs close to $800 id take a donated one that been pissed on any day ) can be washed
ANYthing that is bought has someone else’s DNA on it and there are those who will donate without cleaning stuff up- just to get rid of it and have less responsibility for it

Those blue plastic boxes would have made great art boxes for kids 💙
Plus, Belinda, it would have kept them out of the landfill...but Mike has never said that that is one of his goals. Some do, some don't.
@@conservativevicki7612 all comes down to how much space some people have to store the stuff they find. Mike doesn't have the storage capacity to keep all those boxes to sell or to find a place for them to be donated to.
I totally would have taken all of those blue boxes. Would donate them to a school or #repurposeproject to keep out of landfill.

Hear ya talking about brass mike but you never take the valves off the tops of the green and pink tanks ifin you didn't know there's a small brass valve on top of every one of them
They may still have gas in them so i guess he dont want the hassle of removing them and letting out the content

Mike, the blue "hose" at 13:45 is a power cable for a semi trailer. It goes between the cab and trailer. Should be good copper in it.

Back in the late 1980s me and my buddies use to dumpster dive in 7-11 dumpsters and get all the trashed lottery tickets. We'd go through them to find winners that people that were losers.
We found a lot. Especially with a tik tac toe game. We made really good money
Have you ever thought about putting a liftgate on the back, so you struggle as hard to put heavy items in the back🤔

Grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and was introduced to dumpster diving when college students moved out/ graduated. OMG you would be shocked knowing what they do pitch that is of no use to them anymore. One student that lived in my apartment complex always had me check out problems with his car so when he moved out he gave me the key telling me they are scheduled out end of week and enjoy what I find. Haven't done any diving in a few years, not there anymore, but yes if you can handle it in a college town it is worth it at graduation and mid semester.

I used to dumpster dive on Ft. Campbell and an apartment complex in Hopkinsville Kentucky where soldiers lived. The army throws away very expensive trash.
this is what I love about dumpster diving, you never know what you will find plus it helps the environment! another great dive.... inspired me to go out there and dive and film lol thanks

After the blue boxes dumpster, the next dumpster had some medical supplies. You were standing on a special wheelchair cushion called a Roho. New, they are around $400, used is $200-300. Be on the lookout…

Those blue cases would have been great for kids to keep art supplies and other small toys in.
You can sell all them blue boxes online, people use them for medical kits and gun storage.

Me, personally, I would have kept a few of the blue cases, as long as there was nice foam inside. I worked for an oil and gas company, on the assembly side. There was one tool, that had sensitive equipment inside, and came in black cases such as the blue ones in your video. Found out, they just threw them away. I stockpiled probably 30 of them and gave them to friends, that could use them for tools, firearms, etc. Really nicest cases.

I work for Michigan heating control we do AC residential commercial and Plumbing and I get to keep all acr all the copper and all the electricity motor and the ac button I put hole in them

I'm only one person who loves to reuse junk- but I can't collect it all- it's good to see someone is scrapping stuff properly...
Currently concentrating on printers, trying to recycle the pcbs myself, but also I cut the plastic into squares, which have proven quite useful! Also re purposed the glass in the scanners for a fume hood...
you can make a weighted club with a nail spike something strong and sharp to smash into the sides of them tanks you always find they will take the tanks usually if they wont explode

When you find wheel chairs, canes, crutches, etc., if it's in good usable condition, you can take them to your local American Legion, VVA, or VFW. More times than not, they know a disabled Veteran who could use them.

You could and we could in the alleys by my house also but then I would need a second guy or another me to do the eBay electronic ad packaging post office all that stuff I'm just good at dumpster diving but I have had to stop because my house is too filled up and that's the same story I tell my stuff I'm going to put it on eBay or Craigslist or go to a small shop and sell it all in just collecting gas I wish I would have left it in the alley sometimes because I can't find a buyer but I'm a speaker junkie so I collect speakers thank you
