I do have most of my plants in ceramic pots, they were given to me that way. Ive made a few starts from cuttings. Is there anyway to pot into a ceramic pot and have the plant thrive. If i were to maybe add rocks to the bottom before adding soil? Also for hanging plants do you have any recommendations on how to keep them from being too top heavy because the leaves hang down and the base of the plants start pulling out of the pot.
Short-term they might be ok in ceramic but it's very hard to monitor the root system so I'm not sure they will thrive long-term even with rocks at the bottom. You can drill holes into ceramic pots if you have the right drill bits? For hanging plants, if they are pulling out the pot it sounds like a soil refresh might be needed and planting the roots deeper in the pot. You could also put leca or semi-hydro on top to weigh the plant down but again in my experience if the plant is potted correctly they shouldn't be pulling out the pot. Hope that helps! 💚
Somewhere in between if possible 😊 if they are very wet then it's just a bit messy (not really an issue for the plant, more a personal thing), if they are too dry then the roots are more likely to be brittle and you can lose more roots during the repot. I would say water 3-5 days before ideally 💚
@@kristiguo8410 you don't need to drown the plant after repotting, just enough to settle the plant in. Root rot normally happens over a period of over watering. As long as the roots are healthy when you repot this should be fine 💚
One of the best videos about repotting I have watched 👌 thanks 🙏
Aw thank you, glad it was helpful 💚
Thanks so much! This was right on time as I have a monstera I need to repot!
Yay, glad it was helpful and good luck with the repot 💚
Love your videos you explain things really good
Thank you! I'm so pleased they are useful 💚
Great video
Thanks! 💚
Great tips. I use pumice instead of perlite, and often I toss in a scoop of zeolite as well.
Thank you, ooh yes good additions 💚

Do you recommend having the plant well-watered the day before repotting or is it better to repot when the soil is dry?

@@wyldhouseplantsnew to being a plant mom here! Wouldn’t that risk root root since we would have to water down the plant after repotting?
