I would want bluetooth on a stereo, or at least an AUX jack (Which this stereo does have), but sometimes if that one local FM station you'd always tune to has all the great music you enjoy, sometimes that's all you need.
Back to the basic of a Car Audio Head Unit My Grandfathers RV has something like this dude it is loud with no 4ch amp not bad though. Another awesome review.
I still wish I could find a cheap twin knob old school unit like DUAL used to make like 10 years ago. Was perfect for old trucks i build that I don't want to cut the dash for a single DIN.
bought this, brand new, last piece remained in a store in very cheap price.. these systems had better DAC(digital to audio chips) for better sound quality compared to todays. can play original pink Floyd, ac/dc, peter Gabriel CDs again. listen music in Bluetooth only if you dont know the real quality music and it doesn't matter to you. Bluetooth cannot give HI-RES audio quality never ever than original lossless direct CD
My ex wife (still great friends) just gave me this stereo. Is she trying to tell me that I'm old lol that's for the laugh. I still would've liked Bluetooth but it is a good stereo. Hey free is free.
You forgot to mention that it could also be configured to drive a subwoofer, using the rear speaker output. No ext. amp required. Nothing crazy just decent bass. Bass heads should get monoblocks.🤣
Hello, i purchased it two days before but it suddenly switch of as i accelerate my car but sometime it continues playing, having sony speaker but dont know problem. Do you know some solution?
It is not just about "oldies". I don't like to be irradiated with bluetooth 24/7 thanks. And if you use an iphone, ipod, iwhatever apple thingy you aren't as "thechy" as you think you are. Steering wheel controls are safer and more handy than bluetooth, and the think plays flac from the usb... why does it not play oga or m4a tho! mp3 is indeed obsolete... The cd thing is handy because I have nothing else that plays cds anymore, so there's one more media that I can read just in case.
Yeah, the lack of Bluetooth or iPhone playback is a no-go for me. The CD player is ok though, but the last single din I bought, the JVC KD-R880, had all of those features.
So you can go for a single din with a motorized/or fixed double din screen like these: www.qualitymobilevideo.com/avh-3300nex.html www.qualitymobilevideo.com/xav-ax8000.html www.qualitymobilevideo.com/vr-75b.html www.qualitymobilevideo.com/bv9967b.html
i have this unit and the AUX sound is absolutly terrible.. only reason i wanted it was to use AUX and its useless .. wasted my money if i cant get it working better
To their credit, Sony has been rolling out newer head units that are styled more conservatively and really blend in to the looks of dashes much better. Check out MEX-N5300BT or DSX-GS900 as an example. Also their video units like the XAV-AX5000 look better than any other current double din in my opinion, despite not having some features that others may. But yeah, the "carbon fauxber" look is not my favorite haha.
@@MDubb545 Yep agreed. If their video units had wireless carplay and capacitive touchscreen i'd probably buy one. Also a rotary volume knob would be nice, but I understand that in a newer car with steering wheel controls it's probably not that important.
but why?? its not the 90s anymore nobody will steal a head unit even an android head unit with a 2gb ram and 32gb storage cost around $40 with a 9~10inch display its ridiculously cheap that I'm pretty sure everyone can afford this.
I absolutely hate my sony head unit. You cant even adjust the treble or mids?! I think i have the MEX-100BT. Ive debated throwing it out my window about 30 times. Oh and it randomly decides to not turn on at weird intervals. So you have to unplug it for 10 mins and let it discharge. Junk.
So nice to let a CD sliding into the slot, I love the sound, the movement.

Good job Sony for doing it right this time.
I have the latest Sony head unit with 1600watt amp and 1000rms sub but I’d preferred to used CD’s coz it brings big heavy bass
One of the best stereo i got my car❤❤
👌
front design looks good. black carbon fiber near edges and rest all black with red light glowing at back of buttons.
heat sink at back looks cheaper.
Still a awesome radio, with loads of features😀

Easy to get rid off that peep sound

But i want DVD player, USB and bluetooth for a compact size, 1Din
What solution for my problem?
So you can go for a single din with a motorized/or fixed double din screen like these:
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/avh-3300nex.html
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/xav-ax8000.html
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/vr-75b.html

Or a Single DIN with a screen on its display like these:
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/kd-av41bt.html
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/pd-348b.html
CAN I USE WITH A BLUETOOTH TRANSMITTER
Yes
i have this unit and the AUX sound is absolutly terrible.. only reason i wanted it was to use AUX and its useless .. wasted my money if i cant get it working better
Feature-wise deisgned for our parents, design-wise designed for our children. I don't get it.

It doesn't have to be 90's for some drug addicts to steal stuff, they will take pretty much everything that comes off
