There are a lot of topwater baits out there on the market, but one of the best for catching giant bass over the

Can’t wait!!
What would you recommend for creek fishing? Especially here in Indiana. I am thinking of fishing a local creek for the first time. But not sure if I have something that really will generate bites.
Could you drop a link in the comments? 🙏
@WolfsDE going for smallies or something else?
@@jtmarshall large mouth bass, small mouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, carp or whatever else I can find. It doesn't matter...I just want to catch fish and having trouble learning new waters because I have only fished one lake my entire life. So learning Otter Creek, Wabash River and local ponds.
I really enjoyed it guys, thanks for having me on!! 🎣
Thanks for coming on!!
Good luck with the AOY!
The 75size choppo is the best prop bait ever made. And you have to know this if you’re as thick headed as me when it comes to throwing a plopper a lot. There’s so much more you can do with the 75berkley that you just can’t achieve with any other size of any other brand. Pop it, twitch it, pull it a couple feet n pause,,twitch twitch pause, looks like baitfish busting the surface or a struggling baitfish. I’ve pulled up two 6lb+ smallmouth this week on the Mohawk River Amsterdam NY with it, but have caught 100s that are in the 3-5 pound category. As soo as it hits the water u just pull a couple feet and stop it, if nothing give it maybe a couple pops, 9/10 times you’ll get nailed on that. The straight retrieve works too but I’ve just caught a 14lb 39 inch pike and a handful of 4-5lb smallmouth plus 2 over 6, just this week. And I’ve been doing it for a couple years now. Only the Berkeley 75, not the R2sea 75, that’s way heavier and tends to roll on its side. There’s nothing that’s better than the 75 in ways you can aggravate the fish to bite.
Was always shocked that bass guys didn’t have this in the arsenal. I’d been using a plopper for over 25 years for Muskie.
I was using a Berkeley choppo last night from the bank. 2nd cast being parallel to the bank hooked into my first ever Muskie! 40 inches. Last September same choppo got me my PB large mouth of 7.3 up here in Minnesota! Think it's time to retire her lol. Thanks for all the videos Tyler, they have helped me land so many fish! God bless!
Dude you’re cranking out some stellar content. Holy smokes! This is a damn near a seminar
Wow bro for this being the first one you did amazing! Audio quality and video quality were both spot on!! Well done man. Appreciate you actually caring enough to do it right from the start. What a banger. Really enjoyed this! Proud of you!
Great pod cast. The interview and information shared is a value to us all. You got style! Keep them coming. Your channel Rocks in all forms it's always interesting and informative.
stoked for this tyler, hope you keep this format going!!
I watch a very few pod cast but then get bored. With your pods it holds my interest till the end. Great info on how to tweak my approach to fishing and enjoying it.
Great podcast. Hope you keep it up. Good plain spoken information that can be applied on the water That's what makes it worthwhile. Hunter seems like a good guy. Thanks
i like this format, bringing another person on just makes it a little more engaging! great videos man
Ohio native Hunter, nice. As a fan of Abu Garcia, My newest cranking rod is a Abu Garica Fletcher Shryock. I'm loving it so far
As for Hunter.... I was watching live the dock flipping wacky worm broadcast on the Bassmaster Elite early this year. That was sick
Great episode, looking forward to seeing more of this.
I've thrown a plopper a thousand times and caught one baby bass 😂 - thanks for some tips in this one, will definitely test some things out.
Color to your region, river, lake is key. Use a other then clear or silver bottom on my river get very few bites. Use silver/chrome or clear get 30 bites like clockwork. Same with rebel pop-r Betts bass bug popper any other then chartreuse is a no go but chartreuse will slay daily smallmouth-red eyes every few cast. Gotta find the number 1 bass bugs or can't cast em but if you find em they own smallmouth
I like the podcast style. It was great to hear from Hunter and the "history" of using the Plopper for tournament fishing.
New favorite fishing podcast! Holy smokes! Great stuff!
Love the video! Was just recently introduced to the Choppo, so I went and picked up a 90 1/2 Oz Bone. After throwing frogs and some other Bone colored top water I switched over to the Choppo 90 and third cast in, SLAM! Huge top water slap from my now new PB Northern Pike! Definitely a fan of the Choppo now.
I see you Tyler . Great new show. Watched the first broadcast and came back to get some more juice. Congrats brotha.
This was awesome keep them coming!!
Love the videos Tyler, you have taught me so much.
Love the channel man. Fish on
I always have one tired on. The black color is the best for me area here in Texas.
Bass Juice ROCKS!!!
Great pod cast!
In the 70’s / 80”s lives in CINCY and moved to Georgia in mid 1984
On a quest for a 10 pounder, have three at 9 pounds 9.48, 9.2 pounds
Drive 3 hours south of Lake Lanier to a PFA. Catching 30 pound bags down there past Macon.
Your friend Dave😎🐟😎
Love the new podcast BJ/ Bass Juice !!😂😂😂 I have learned so much from your channel Bass Fishing HQ ! God Bless gentlemen ! Tight Lines !!
I enjoyed the podcast. Glad to pick up some juice and be entertained!
Very good content and really got to know quite a bit about Hunter. I'll have to keep up with his progress.
Thanks tyler, exactly what i was looking for 😁
terrific content Tyler and picking Hunters brain!
Really natural interview style. Totally watchable and very informative. Great instincts in terms of letting the guest have the mic and prompting him just enough to keep it moving well.
I’ve been crushing my tournaments the past month with a plopper tied on (quick plug - vids up on my channel). Great first podcast!
Love it! Every week please!!??
I just had a 30 bass day with a plopper this weekend far from dead for me. I've noticed the wind plays a big factor because it messes with the baits acoustics that can either help or hurt your cause
One thing i love about Berkeley is while they may copy some baits, they always improve on the design and sell it cheaper
The day Hunter wins his first elite series tournament…(and the day is coming)…I will be screaming at bass live. Hunter is a freaking awesome dude.
I slayed them with the whopper ploppers last spring and summer in Southern New Jesersy. Not a single one on the ploppers this year.
I always have a plopper tied on . Great info . Just bought the new Chaos bait
Talking about the free rig, and I probably should share this but lol 😆 I’ve took a 1/4 oz bullet sinker in my t-rig and put a stopper between that and the hook and then set the stopper about a foot above the hook and it works just like the free rig because the weight seems to move more freely and the bait moves slowly once the weight hits the bottom. So buying free rig weighs just for that idk maybe it’s better I haven’t tried it yet myself.
Caught my first plopper bass last Sunday night. Nice smallie. Let's go!!!
GREAT PODCAST LOVED IT
man i love the "choppo"... only big fish and epic bites. plus can fish it in the black of night/early pre-dawn!
Loved it Tyler!! Keep up the great work and effort you put into all your videos!
I love this keep them coming
hooked up with my 2nd largest bass at my local dip pond on an ozark trail whopper plopper black with red speckles, lost his fatass at the bank; had two older gentlemen hootin and hollerin for me when it jumped fully out of the water and we were alls ad when i lost it lol. was a great time, thinkin about adding 2 split rings (which has totally worked for me on other top waters). my 5 year old found the lure at the edge of the water (scavengers for life ftw) and i've now caught a few fish on it WITHOUT having seen this video!! i only watched a guy fish one once, he caught a dinker; excited to learn from you here. will definitely report back any successes
SPLIT RINGS FROM BRAID bro this is game changing, do a video on THAT!! goin to salt strong to watch his vid on it meow. mind blown.
I like the new format.
Hey buddy, GREAT INFO in this video... I learned a ton just from this one podcast... Thanks!
Oh, and does the "deep dive" app really help? Thanks!
Really like the new format
Good stuff. I fish the Whopper Plopper a good bit. Love a good old top water bite
Great show. Enjoy that Tennessee Football!
I live in the midwest, southern Ohio, to be exact. The plopper has turned into a completely situational bait for me. Summer night fishing during a new moon with a little breeze, perfect. Right before and during the first few minutes of a rain storm, awesome. Most other times, meh.
On the Ohio river I had one heck of a good day on the black 90 size plopper! 20lb braid, 7ft medium mod action Kistler chatter bait rod! That softness is key to not losing fish!
Iv cought 90% of my fish this year on ploppers this year in the Midwest
I love the new podcasts!
00:10 Tony’s spot on fishing top water musky fishing in the fox river. I actually watched that and caught my first musky ever a month ago lmao
Awesome, great content. Do a live sometime were we can ask questions.
Dude, that Waterloo peach is the BEST!
Great podcast!!
Keep up the podcast interview style!!!!!
awesome podcast!
Good stuff!
Whopper Plopper tail always gets bent. The Choppo seems to be built more sturdy and has has the fusion 19 hooks already.
Good info here. Need to find my chopo. I know I have one somewhere lol
Love my whopper plopper, it produces some BIG ones
Great video. Once a week you say? I’m there amigo
Great video
Just caught my PB on a black Chompo on July 4th 7 pounds
So, I've trolled ploppers on either side of my Gheenoe (trolling motor), just wondering around the lake with them spinning behind me and gotten several catches.
I'll put your tips to work
Strictly a bank fisherman here
This year have been for the first time fishing both whopper poppers and buzz baits
Fished both during first hours before and after sun rise and first hours before and after sunset and all times from sunup till sundown as well as night fishing until about 2am
Fished both over and around weeded areas Fallen trees or logs points and inner pockets while fan casting from within a foot of shore to all areas in a wide half circle
Done so since May
Haven't caught a single bass on either yet
Had good success on all my regular standbys of soft plastics hard cranks chatter baits and top water but zero success on BB's of WP's
Hopefully your tips will improve my success as I have no where to go from here but up
Tsunami ball barely swivel with the split ring on river2sea 190 plopper is the only top water I use. I have tons of other top water lures. 98% off the time the plopper hitting top water on. From 1/2 -7 pound bass. From late Feb to late Oct. Rain, sunshine or overcast.
Bone plopper is always on one of my rods and on occasions ill run the loon (black)
Ploppers never stopped working for me here in TX. However, this is the toughest frogging year I’ve ever had. Fish must have had a meeting and collectively decided no more biting frogs
Awsome video
What's the best all color to throw a whooper plopper in any color water and nice video?
Yup I like it!
You spoke on a spy bait. Can you talk more about this bait for I have watched videos on it, but still find it hard to fish properly.
Thanks for the great content and videos.
I like Hunter and always cheer for him because he's an Ohio guy like Tyler and myself
I just put feathered treble hooks on one of my choppo .... haven't tried it out yet
Meanwhile, the Brazilians using these lures to catch giant peacock bass for many years, someone do an easier "hélice" version and it just explodes!
This is good. You mentioned Wheeler, but he knows his lures. I heard him say that he buys 10 of the same lure just to find the one good one.
over an HOUR?! lol I could be fishing, my guy!
So, what would make the plopper "dead" to begin with? Did the fish get together across the country and decide no more slamming those pesky ploppers anymore?😂
Frog color did amazing on my lake.
Greetings coming from Indonesia priv. Maluku Aru Islands Greetings fellow anglers
What’s your rod reel set up for throwing a whooper plopped?
What gear reel is best for the choppo?
What about Chapo Knock offs ? Are those good too ?
This will help me catch bass with my whopper popper, I still haven't caught ANYTHING on it YET but that day is coming
Definitely not dead by any means. I threw my first plopper the other day and had 4 fish on 4 casts.
Yo, can you use this even in little ponds
The place I see the "free rig" playing is bed fishing. Dropping the weight in the bed and yo-yoing that floating worm
I havnt caught anything big yet. 2.5 lbs as best and I use it all the time.
My pb bass was caught with a choppo i grabbed at Walmart.
How do you determine how long to stay in an area weather your catching smalls or short strikes to no bites? Even if like you say the area looks great.
It doesn’t matter how it looks. If it’s not producing after multiple honest attempts with different baits, then it’s time to move. Don’t just hope. Fish can’t sense hope. It doesn’t matter what you’re throwing, if the fish aren’t there then you aren’t going to catch anything. You have to find the fish before they will bite. If your not getting bit, move.
What does it mean split rings and braid?
Could someone elaborate on what they're talking about when they say braid and split rings?
Same here , no clue what they’re talking about
I don’t know how to do it but you make loops on the hook hangers directly to the hook with braided line. When you fight a fish the braid twists which doesn’t allow a fish to spit the bait out as easily as with normal split rings.
IT GOES BACK TO THE SAME THING MAKING GOOD DECISIONS
The whopper Plopper was first introduced in 1986 and was a failure. The whopper Ploppers were given to all tournament anglers to use in a tournament. They were a complete failure and disappeared into obscurity. Then reintroduced they sold to weekend anglers and were a hit. Just a history lesson.
Used to be an Ohioan. Lives in TN now.
😅GREAT VIDEO MY MAN 😊😊😊😊😊
So can I subscribe to the podcast on apple or Spotify or someone else?
Yup I will have them up on those platforms later this week
I literally just had a huge bass break me off using the whooper
