    7,65kg with pedals, bottle cages, dual sided powermeter, GPS mount, specialized saddle (heavy) and a Wahoo (Can be seen at 6:54?)?!?! Very competitive I'd say. Thank you for the review. Btw. The flat back of the seatpost also increase the inherent ability for the post to flex too = better comfort.

    Hey patt, i really enjoyed your review. Very comprehensive and informative. Also well presented!
    In regards to the aero performance, how would this bike compare to say, a propel? is it night and day or are the differences negligible?
    i am going to visit my local giant shop and order this one on friday but i still worry about the aero differences....Do you think the current crop of models are ever gaining on their aero bike counterparts?

    • @pattnwia
      @pattnwia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks :) im glad my video helped you out. To answer your question, newer bikes are becoming more aero. Before it was a clear difference between light weight climbing bikes and full aero bikes. Now the lightweights like the TCR are becoming more aero, but still wont be as aero as the full aero bikes (propel). The new Specialized tarmac is essentially a Venge. You will be able to tell the differences. On flats you can easily feel the propel will be faster, but the TCR will be better for climbing, so it really depends on what you ride more. I would suggest test riding both the TCR and the Propel to see which one you like more. I tried the propel and didnt really like it, so i went with the TCR. Congrats on your bike btw !!

      Or just some car wax will help cover the scratch cosmetically. If you want a more permanent fix, consider getting car polish (e.g. Meguiar's Scratch X). Nail polish might be overkill if the scratch doesn't penetrate all the way through the clear coat. Just a thought.

Before buying the bike, i tried both M and S sizes and found that i liked the Small size more. i like the more aggressive position from the shorter head stack on the S size. The smaller size will be lighter and more nimble compared to the M. So seeing that i fit on both sizes, the Small size will give me more performance. Nice review. Love the color. My older Cervelo R3 is about the same size and 15 lbs. The Di2, disc brakes and wheels may be adding weight.
    The R3 maxes out at 23mm front and 25mm rear so looking to upgrade so something that takes wider tires.
    Wonder if the aero on the TCR would make up for the additional weight?

    • @pattnwia
      @pattnwia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhhh it might, the TCR is still a climbing bike that is more aerodynamic. so depends on what your looking for, but the TCR is definitely fast and very stiff !!

      @Dee-Ell 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The current Cervelo R3 Ultegra Di2 disc is 7.39kg with pedals. So very similar weight to this TCR. New aero frames with disc is generally heavier than older less aero frames on rim brakes in this category. (Note that the author of this video swapped in the Gravia tyres, which adds a total of 200g to the weight). This TCR weights 7.15kg stock, without pedals.

      @pattnwia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Hmmmm
      its rare to find a XS size for a mens TCR, you would have to special order it from bike shops because they rarely stock that size.
      According to the Giant sizing guide, you are probably a S, but a XS would be very aggressive, suitable because your flexible and want to go fast. I would say to go try out a S size, and if it feels a bit big, then i would size down to a XS. I am 175 cm and my recommended size is M , i have ridden both sizes and i prefer the S size.

    • @pattnwia

      You will need to buy the D-Fly bluetooth module. Super easy to install. Then you can get the gears displaying on your Garmin head unit, if you have one of those. Heaps of internet posts around not messing with the factory settings via the mobile phone app - many saying it essentially bricks the Di2 unit. So I've never used this, and don't see a reason to. Couldn't understand how to change modes properly, and couldn't get used to front or rear derailleurs shifting by themselves. Now I leave it in auto and let the front shift by itself and really enjoy how it works. And the hoods have buttons that you can program to change the screens on your Garmin, which is really nice. I don't have sprint shifters, but I know you can get these as well.

      Great question!! If you get a flat that can't be sealed. You will have to use a standard bike tube. Luckily all small punctures should be sealed by the sealant automatically, and larger nails would require a plug. Anything beyond that would be super unlucky, and would probably destroy any bike tire, regardless of tubeless or tubed setup. Hope that helps !!!

      Nice! congrats on the bike. !
      Yes, on giants website they say the Pro 0 comes with SL aluminum handlebars, but I went to the Giant store in Vancouver and checked that the pro 0s on display all had the SLR carbon handlebar. hmmm , maybe a mistake on the website?
      and the route is demo forest near lower seymour conservation reserve.

      @@pattnwia A Giant store employee told me the carbon handlebar was a "little bonus" from Giant on the Pro0. So hopefully that will continue into 2022 onwards. Nice bike & helpful review BTW. I'm still trying to decide between the new TCR & Tarmac SL7. Have you climbed Cypress or Seymour yet, and if so, how does the Pro0 compare with your previous bike(s) on those climbs? Thanks!

      @@sulfurlaw ahhh that makes sense, Yea i was pretty surprised when i noticed the carbon handlebar. thought the bike shop made a mistake :P really cool that giant included that for the Pro 0's :) happy !!!
      Man both those are great bikes, hard to choose. I personally like the look of the tarmac more, its alot more aerodynamic, but it is more expensive.
      Yep, climbed cypress and seymour already, TCR is amazing at climbs, the fame doesnt flex at all, basically no difference when compared to my pinarello F8, however on descents it handles better than the F8. im going to try my friends SL7 Tarmac next week, so ill let you know how that is. I tried the Tarmac SL6, and it basically feels identical to a TCR, but im pretty sure SL7 will be better o 0

      @@pattnwia Agreed & many thanks for the reply! Please do post your impression once you have some hands on with the SL7. Actual user reviews on affordable models are SO MUCH better than the typical bike magazine's TCR ASL0 or SL7 S-Works reviews. :)
      I've actually not tried either 2021 models. But I did test ride both outgoing models just before covid, so I am sure I'll be happy no matter which one I pick. Currently leaning towards the TCR due to the lower MSRP, but still a bit hesitant about the hookless rims. The SL7 does look better though. The Spesh CA site briefly had an SL7 Pro w/ Di2 (i.e. not the Force 1x) that I was drooling over, but they've since removed it from the site so I don't know what's going on. Don't think I'll be happy with the C$7K SL7 Expert with R470 wheels, but can't justify splurging for an S-Works. So perhaps the choice is already made for me. :)

      I recently test rode my friends 2021 Emonda , that bike is pretty good too !! Price point is a bit on the higher side, but it is something to consider. I feel the Tarmac, TCR, and Emonda all ride very similar and are very comparable to each other.
      YEA!! the 1X Force was such a shocker to me too, so weird they chose that drivetrain. I think the shops here should still be able to get their hands on the PRO with Di2 versions. im not too sure though... MMM is it the hookless rims compatibility with tires?? I know the GP5000 TL isnt listed as a compatible tire, but i have seen people run it on their giant tcr's. So it works, but i just dont know about safety and stuff.
      Anyways keep me updated on which bike you choose and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask :)

    I am in MTB for almost 2 years and I am converting to road bikes....What do you think about Giant Tcr Advanced 2016 model?

    - What is the perfect size for 1.78 cm Height?
    - Can I do packaging with the bike

    • @pattnwia
      @pattnwia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, The TCR hasn't really changed much since 2016. The difference with the 2021 models were just small changes to the tube shapes for more aero.
      I would recommend a giant defy or any endurance road bike for bike packing. The TCR is more of a race bike, but you can still put up to 32 mm tires on it.

    • @pattnwia
      @pattnwia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, so I actually test rode both sizes for about 15 mins each. While both sizes fit me, riding a smaller size does have a weight advantage, so it should feel more nimble and faster accelerating when compared to the size M. Secondly, a smaller size gets me in a more aggressive position so thats why i chose it. Also the stock stem on the size S is 90mm, which i swapped out for a 100mm to fit me better.

      I did. In fact i had a 2016 TCR that was size M. Fits me perfectly fine. I just prefer the smaller size because it is lighter and more nimble.
      Its really down to personal preference, Id say give both a try. Some people like the bigger frame for more stability. And i personally liked the 40cm wide bar, so that's another reason why i went with size S. Hope that helps !!
