Pro tip to those who may need it, when you do //copy, make sure you're standing in the front of the house facing it while standing in the center, because it's going to paste based on where you're standing from it.
If someone wants to copy a building from a server (i only tried whit Aternos) to another map than you just need to do the same as Avomance did but whit a small twist. If you can browse between the server files (this will only work if you can) then you just need to find the plugins folder -) WorldEdit -) schematics and from there you can download the building that you saved on the server and move it to minecraft's schematics folder. This works the other way around as well.
@@danielleibold9401 Read the end of the comment. You just need to move the schematic from minecraft's folder to the servers. But if it doesn't let you paste in the schematic into the servers file than the site where you are geting the server from doesn't allowe it.

@@Kirin161 The thing is that aternos doesn't allowe uploads to the server files anymore. I tried lots of ways but didn't work. This is thier explonation : Unfortunately, Aternos doesn't offer access via FTP or the ability to upload custom mods/plugins. There are many reasons for this decision but it's mainly for security reasons. The "custom mods/plugins" part incudes that you can not upload files inside the WorldEdit folder

1. //wand 2. Right click the furthest left top corner of your build, sets as position 2. 3. Left click the furthest right bottom corner of your build, sets as positon 1. 4. //copy (Optional but recommended is that after you copy it, to //paste it further away in the same world to see if it copied correctly. If it didn't, then redo and make sure you do it correctly) 5. //schematic save (name you will give it, no spaces in between)... ex. //schematic save Bob 6. Go to .minecraft -> (the version you are playing) -> configs -> worldedit (or similar name) -> schematic saves (or similar name). 'Bob.schem' (or so) schematic should be there. If it isn't, you did something wrong or there were conflicting mods. Try again, step by step.
Thank you! I made a void world in 1.19 and built a floating thing in it but I accidentally loaded it in an old version... It started loading in chunks of land that I didn't want. Really helped
@Jessica it won't work on a server most probably as the schematic is saved in the game on yr pc....but u can always download the world from server and then do the schematic thing and paste it in the world in which you want to place it and then upload that world in a new server 😉
This was literally a lifesaver when a griefed hacked my server and completely destroyed almost a whole year of progress! I had a backup of the world so all I had to do was download WorldEdit, convert the server world into singleplayer and copy paste the little town back into where it belongs :)

The schematic is housed on your machine from your single player world ausnahme... it needs to be copied onto the world files of the server itself to "exist". If you contact the admin of the server, they may upload it for you. Make sure World Edit is available in the that server first though! :) Good luck :)

Well You shouldn't have any problems Cause your copying from older version, which blocks that are in 1.12 are also in 1.16 So you shouldn't have any problems with that But if you would want to do it backwards there could be a Block not existing in the older version and it could crash the server.

i love to use and learn everything vanilla since MCEDIT stop supporting beyond minecraft 1.12+… was a very difficult time for our worlds and constructions y'know, but here we are, so, like in this situation i prefer the use of structure blocks for my structures between world saves or places within the world (bless whoever at mojang that gave us those blocks) but, do you all know what i love even more? learn from people who invest their time to show us the "other way" as clearly and easy as @avomance do because, you never know when this will be needed thumbs up @avomance ;D, love your videos, love this new tutorial series as well, keep it awesome ;D and thank you very much for this knowledge you share with the minecraft community ;D
Hi Hussein... it might be that you copied the building when you were up in the air and then pasate it when you are on the ground. The schematic is created from the point you are standing. I find its always better to stand at the bottom around the centre when I do the //copy command

However, if you want to copy a schematic to your server, head over to plugins, then worldedit, config, and add the schematic in there, and just follow the same steps showed in the video. I'm trying to take one of my builds from a server and put it onto my singeplayer world and I did all the steps for the build and it did save. But when I go to check in my folder under worldedit, it didn't have a folder with the name schematics. So I created a new folder and called it schematics and when I tried to save it again and went to go check, nothing was saved. I also tried to go onto my world and paste it, but it said: "Schematic (name) does not exist!". Any way on how I could make it work?
you need the file from the server owner to add to your minecraft game. When it makes a file it's making it in the server, not on your pc. I did the same thing but I own the server I got and add to go to the site. download the file make the folders in my minecraft then load it in sp and was able to place it fine.

It will paste in whatever orientation you copied it or saves it as a schematic. If you were facing the bottom left corner and facing South... then thats how it will paste. I hope that helps?
I tried this with a different world/Minecraft versions I had a couple of buildings I made in a flat world in 1.20.1, copied them and saved them and put them into my current setup 1.16.5 snow biome and it worked, only a couple of blocks missing here and there due to version differences but if your structure is made with vanilla blocks etc it should past into and earlier or later version just fine, saved me a heap of time rebuilding as I had a freedom tower or world trade 1 that I made in 1.20 and wanted to use it in 1.16.5

So you shouldn't have any problems with that
