The RAAF ADG course appears much more challenging than the USAF Security Forces Academy I attended. I had the honor to serve with the Australian Defence Forces (Army and Air Force) on deployments in the past. Great group of professionals and wonderful folks. God bless Australia!
Ive meet a lot of RAAF personel at in my career with the USAF. I have to say of our country's allies french canadian british german the list goes on.... the aussies are the best. They will have our backs were ever we are including the desert. Ive worked and fought along side them. ive also drank drank them. I wish to visit your country one day and maybe meet up with some of your fine countrymen Ive met over the years while im there. I am truly honored to work with your county.
For those who couldn't make it in Infantry, but think they're up there with the SASR. One ADGie tried convincing a SASR Tpr that some of their tactics were devised by the ADGs. This is the shit they get fed during IET haha!
I remember when there were only 500 views on this video. This is such a great job. Go for my assessment day on Monday. Im very excited about it all. Fingers crossed
Yes, I was up to the Challenge ... back in 1973!
Very good video, shows really how finely tuned our small army is, but very effective and dedicated individuals indeed.
I am ringing up DFR tomorrow and changing my 1st preference to ADG...
At least I wont be waiting 18+ months for a rifleman position and the fact that its almost an identical job makes it even better .....Also I hear they treat you better in the RAAF.....
Yes, join up kids we need another million of these brave men just to match other countries home guards n reserves.
Great work and thanks ADF for our freedom, we don't forget the past.
Have my selection board interview soon :) cant wait to join these guys and kick ass
f88 is the aus steyr that we use, f89 is the minimi also known as the LSW
Great Video! Very informative and tells you alot. I would love to be a ADG.
I've applied and am looking forward to this course!
Hey, are you still a ADG?
@MANCHILD69able LAC stands for Leading Aircraftman. There is a common misconception that the word contains an 's' this is incorrect. The correct terminology is Aircraftman.
thanks for this vid, theres needsm ore aussie vids like this, explaing things in training
8:43. He halted on the wrong foot
lol
the infantry does all that and more with more speciality as well as spending more time in the feild
Ur dumb this is a different role do your research these guys are trained like infantry
Doesn't SECFOR also get the beret? Do they even wear berets anymore? Wasn't there a talk about banning them because of sun safety?
Would I have time to do my uni studies if I enlisted as an ADG?
does that include the SAS,
commandos and clearance divers
why does everyone seem to look down on adgies?
what sort of augs do you use oh and can you tell me y we arnt allowed bb guns in australia
Yes you can, you just have to wait until theres a spot open.
Their recruiting ADGs full time now.
Adgie's and MP's most likened career path in the ADF.
Does anyone have the complete training course of a RAAF ADG so that i can start training before i apply?
Is there a reservist unit?
so this is basically like airforce infantry?
ADGs role compared to that of a army infantry man/rifleman?
What are people's thoughts about joining with a minor back problem? It isn't a major issue but it can very rarely cause discomfort if doing strenuous activities.
@MetalMilitia565 No, join as Rifleman if you hope to join the SASR. ADG's are highly skilled specialists, but they do have less "field experience" than Infantrymen, due to their defensive nature.
Why is there an American flag behind the issuing of the beret???
are they the same for females now it has changed this year
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and successful 2010. xxx
Hi I'm 14 and have an extensive weapons knowledge (not call of duty) but from books and I'm also fairly fit wat would the best way to prepare me for the ADG course
@neilious01 ADG's still wear the beret.
I'm thinking of joining Airbase Protection in the RAAF reserve, could you tell me what this role is like?
15 km pack march in two hours sounds bloody tough. thats 7.5kph. i wouldnt be able to do that unless the "pack" was 10kg.....haha.
good on all you boys... army, navy and airforce.
Why be an Adgie when you can be better trained in Infantry and have better exposure working in an all arms environment, travel overseas more and actually go outside the wire?
Reasonable comment although someone has to do it.
I've had a couple of mates who went from infantry to ADG, hoping to transfer across myself. The ADG course is harder than SOI according to them, and apparently quite a few Army boys transfer across expecting an easier time because the food the Airman's Mess is better, only to be disappointed when the standard is higher than they expected and their prior knowledge doesn't really count for much.
But otherwise, yeah; overseas trips are less frequent, opportunities to work with armour or artillery are virtually non-existent, promotions are a lot slower than in the infantry, and you won't really be doing the kind of patrols infantry did in the 'Ghan (although the old 5km-from-the-airfield restrictions have been binned). But then you get guys like me, bit tired of the battalion and looking for something a little different.
You don't join the Air Force to go on a world cruise, that's Navy. Higher purpose, operational tempo, immediate response. That's the message of any Air Force worth a lick.
Are Adgies Parachute trained ??
Is the course 14 weeks?
Is it true that to be excepted as an ADGie you need to have held a drivers licence for at least 1 year..??
@MetalMilitia565 Me to i wanna join the SASR im tossing up between ADG or commando
am i still an "infantry wannabe" if i all i want to do is the stuff the ADGies do?
yes
Yeah. the F88 is the base weapon that they use.. But ADG have more weapons that that to use. Ive been looking up on them, as i have my interview next week for this and Fire Fighter.
Just a suggestion, whatever position you are going for, it is best to read up on it, and also call up the recruit center to see if you can speak to someone already in an ADG unit and get some first hand info.
You can also go to RAAF website. =)
Wish me luck on my interview lads.
Cheers -
The USAF employs 30,000+ Airfield Security personnel globally. Active front line military pers for the entire Aussie Def For is around 60,000. No disrespect mate, old school 4 RNSWR Assault Pioneer. Air Def is where our front line will be, props to the ADGies.
there is only a 30% pass rate if u are on a relaxed course. i once was an ADG. my course started off with 52 people and in the first week 20 dropped off.. only 5 of us passed
this is relevant to my interests
Trust me guys, the cams are way sexier now, and you can blend in with the sky
LAC actually stands for Leading Aircraftman.
Now, it's been a few years since I've done any form of Marching ... but isn't it against RAAF Drill Rules do come to a halt and mark with your left foot?? Isn't the mark step always on the right?? I'm talking about when he comes to a halt at 8:42.
good luck bro
Do the RAAF ADG get the same sort of grief that the RAF Reg do?
Yeah mate they do.
@beeeyemedia You are correct it was a factual error. Thanks for the pickup we are addressing issue.
I had my YOU Session and really want to be an ADF but it says that you need a full drivers licence, is this true? I'm 17 years old and on my Learners Permit. :( Can someone let me know? Thanks!
You do not need a drivers licence to join the ADF. If in your job you are required to drive a vehicle, you will be trained as such.
An ADG or in the ADF?
Does all this recruitment campaign work ? with all the advertising online and with newspapers/magazines and TV in the last 18 months. If people still are not flocking to the ADF by now maybe they need a rethink recruitment practices. After the Gillard Defense disasters, Destruction of the Australian Army reserves , now Abbott Government salaries and entitlements debacle I do question if the style of Recruitment still work's.
1. It can be both
2. It's an Airforce job, you have to enlist in the Airforce.
Are people allowed to join up to be an ADG if they wear glasses? Would they be able to wear contacts as well?
You can technically wear glasses, but the standards for uncorrected vision is stricter than most other non-aircrew/diving jobs in the ADF. I had ADG as my first preference, got knocked back on that and ended up joining Army instead. Fast forward 9 years and one LASIK procedure, and I'm hoping I can transfer across and do what 18 year old me couldn't go for.
You can wear contacts in the ADF too, but I recommend not wearing them out bush or at recruit school (question of hygiene, saving time, and the misery of trying to put your contacts on in the dark). You're also technically supposed to see an opthamologist when you're applying if you want to join with contacts; don't do this, just use your glasses when you're joining and during medicals, and wear the contacts after you're in.
Yes you can wear glasses or contact lenses. You must be able to pass the colour blind test and a vision test wearing your prescription glasses.
I love Air force
On the call, when the call goes out
I remember when there was only 300 views on this now there is more than 4500. Wow
looks like a Very exciting job ...... though i guess adg's wouldnt see much combat in their careers ...maybe i'm wrong
yes
@beeeyemedia
Yes they were, this video does not need to be corrected at all
well, this pretty much rules me out
all this Fighting over which service is better my brother is RAAC armored corps and has just returned from afganistan where there was a flight of ADGS providing Infantry support along side with RA inf grunts and they both performed just as well as each other if any thing the ADGS where more use full due to there understanding of close Air support.
@maccabatty26 thats what JTAC's and JFO's are for
@beeeyemedia The Air Force historian is cheking this for us I will get back to you with the result.
Looks very similar to USAF Security Forces
+Byron Henry that's because they do the same job
what is the highest group ie brigade level or do the adgies work in sqaud/platoon levels
'
@AirForceHQ checking*
Why do they use highly visible targets? Enemies would never reveal themselves like that.
Because its a basic training program. What they want the recruits to achieve is target identification, move his finger from outside the trigger guard, engage the target with a quick 'from the hip' shot then consolidate with a double tap from the shoulder in a fixed firing position.
great vid
Join the RA Infantry! Why settle for less?
it is
Can an ADG become or transfer to special forces after their IMPS or even before?
allan gc why they are already RAAFSAS
*2016
Do ADG's still wear the blue beret or was it taken away like in the Army?
this is just like the security forces, NOT infantry, marine corp, para-airbornetroopers. or the sof. Most countries have these kind of ADG. the choice is yours, do you like to secure an airfield, in war-times, or do you prefer to FIGHT? than join the : infantry, marine corp, para-airborne troopers or the sof.
cant wait... doing my year 12 specifically for this :D
You're almost infantry... But not quite... too bad :)
What is the age limit for the role of ADG
+mark d 17 to 55 years of age for an ADG brother. About the same for Rifleman in the Army too.
really? you can't go on defencejobs and see for yourself?
Just look up ADG on the internet and it should come up with the Australian Defense Force website with the selected job and minimum age for most military jobs is 17.
an aDG trainee tried to compare ADG's to clearance divers once infront of a chief and the chief ripped him a new oooone.
mate train ur ass up that's all really, im a reserve adg when i graduate that's when ill do full time but good luck mate
I personally did 3 years at an ADG Squadron during my service in the RAAF working in the Supply trade supporting the guys with the equipment they need for the demanding role they`re trained for. I`ve seen these blokes in action they`re extremely fit and highly trained for a role sometimes called "The RAAFs own infantry" Show a few army types a thing or too as well!
Rainf considers adgies a huge joke lol
They’re jealous
@@masonicperkins of what?
True i guess so i will just wait and i will repost the comment again once i have completed everything once again wish me luck
Them PTI's... Gotta love them.
just push yourself hard like force yourself to go further and further thats all thats what i did lol it hurts but u get thier
but you have to be able too keep up with the blokes
Yes but good luck
I was a Cadet
Air Force will one day be the only Force
01:26 incorrect drills
They step up at 06:30 and train 3 days a week! Hardcore blokes these ones...well, not quite as much as plenty of CBD workers...
Wouldn't mind being one of these guys.
@Schredder222 15km with 40kg on your back. thats enough to make any small back problem a big one.
so they don't really do anything,
i looked i you can
what was the point of that exercise??
*slams giant tire with a wooden stick*
you have no idea idiot it's called exercise . If they can not handle it they are not strong enough
@sarkloid9 google adg raaf
Would Love To Be An ADG But It's Only A Males Job :(
