    It may just be because of the amount of turns we witnessed in that finals set, but I have rarely seen this amount of crazy RNG over the course of three games. Wolfe and Riley gave us an incredibly entertaining pairing, both players should be proud of their performance!

      Can anyone explain why in game 2, heattran's flame thrower at first dealt only about 20% HP, but then the second time it dealt like over half? Do damage rolls influence the game that much?

    Spoiler for finals:
    As a avid WolfeyVGC fan, Riley played out of their mind that second game. Regardless of what happened in game 3, don't spread any hate to anybody over things nobody can control, and have a nice day/night :)!

    • @je19493
      @je19493 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Oh absolutely. Riley just outplayed wolfe at every turn game 2, which is why I hate how the tournament ended with some ridiculous shenanigans (on both sides like with instant wake ups) occuring for game 3 (though I'm going to say the crit flamethrower on chi yu and the crit freeze ice beam were the most impactful)

    • @JDLong006
      @JDLong006 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@je19493 i think the flamethrower crit mattered most because riley used tera grass to dodge a drain punch kill, which removed the kill on chi-yu with tera normal blast, which would have let iron hands + chi yu kill heatran without hands being put to sleep by spore
      the freeze was unfortunate but with that many ice beams being fired off into landorus it was bound to happen at some point
      all around a fantastic set, wolfe is already over halfway to a regular worlds invite so we'll just have to wait and see how he does another time

    That crazy RNG in the final match was insane. Surely a roller coaster for both players, but I really wish we could have at least seen how the match would have played out if it wasn’t for that freeze.
    I remember when Frostbite was a thing in Arceus Legends and everyone was hopeful that it would replace freeze v_v

    • @charles2183
      @charles2183 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The freeze was extremely unlucky but you have to take into account that if Wolfe doesn’t get the lucky turn 1 sleep and crit stomping tantrum on iron hands,landorus gets killed to the ice beam wild charge double up as Wolfe didn’t rage powder.Both players had some really critical rng on their side at some points of the match.

  • @je19493

    SPOILERS:
    Finals of game 3 had 5 crits, at least 3 of which mattered, (especially the knockout on chi yu) and crit freeze ice beam into a crit ice beam the next turn, while wolf had 2 two turn sleeps. @SuperLaw10 It most certainly is skill, the most underrated skill of them all: risk management. Riley knew Wolfey was just going to keep healing lando-t, but it was just a matter of time before the freeze happened. Plus, you can't ignore the luck Wolfey got with the dark pulse crit and many immediate wake ups.

  • @ijustwanttolevelup1578

    why didnt james at endgame of game 3 go for moonblast on the iron hands and power whip on the landorus-t? based on my calc booster energy max spA flutter mane's moonblast would have k.o.ed a max spD iron hands. Due to aaron's iron hand not having the assault vest, it also becomes more hard to me to get why did he go for protect again. The risk was much higher. flutter mane would have been k.o.ed regardless but brambleghast would be left at max hp with the sas against a -1 landorus. Assuming power whip didn't miss, he would have probably 2HKO the landorus. It's indeed risky but not as risky as a two consecutive turns protect. Maybe i'm missing something, i don't know. It just seems akward to me
    edit: ok maybe james was looking for a detect on the iron hands side, but still, the risk of protecting again is high enough to value the other options
