I love how Joker’s tone changes with what you choose, it’s sometimes deadly or confused and other times he’s just looking for some sort of approval from Bruce. It’s sad to think about but a sweet sentiment
I felt so sad that despite I'm becoming a vigilant he still became the Joker. It made the ending with Bruce and John fighting really tragic. At least if you say that you are his friend Bruce will visit John in Arkham.

I like how Joker’s and Harley’s roles are reversed in this game/universe. With Harley being the insane one who manipulates and Joker is the one who needed help even before the other came in their life and being manipulated into becoming insane. Really switches up the story and makes things interesting.

She actually has a well-balanced talk with Bruce at one point, apologizing for all the hyperaggressive behavior, justifying it by saying that she needs to be so hyperaggressive to make people listen, and mentions how much she appreciates that you're actually reasonable and respectful enough that she can ease up on the act for a couple minutes in private. If she didn't have to throw her lot in with a bunch of criminals to steal from the cops and Wayne Enterprises, in order to steal from a shadow criminal organization that runs human experimentation, in order to simply LIVE, she might be a far better person. She's definitely sadistic but we see shades of her softer side throughout the game, and it's obvious that she's not as one-note as she puts on.

Ive weirdly sided with John pretty much all this season. I genuinely love this version of Joker. He's not an absolute psychopath madman with only the intent to kill, like how most portrayals. In alot of ways he's just a guy, a guy with a mental illness, being manipulated by Harley Quinn. It gave me a sense that I could prevent a real evil, it seemingly worked but at the same time theres still a whole episode left for him to go off the deep end

yes... sorta... I don't know, there is a NON mass murderer psycho villain joker path, but I haven't really looked into it. To be honest, haven't even played the game, I watched a let's play of it. The let's play was great though!
He inevitably becomes the Joker, but by giving him friendship and choosing the Vigilante path, the casualties are minimised (at most 15) and confined to the Agency, not Bruce's people or by-standers. By saying he is your friend, you'd feel there's a glimmer of hope in this Gotham.

This is by far the most PIVOTAL moment in the game, as while we know his destiny is to become The Joker, we can at least ease some of the damage. Here we see a man literally thrown into a corner at arguably his lowest point. Harley, the love of his life on the verge of either, leaving him or getting killed, or both. As much as people love The Joker I love the direction Telltale went with this as I find this realistic. Here we see John on the verge of crumbling and as the player (Bruce) you are the only thing from preventing him from going off on the deep end. We've known that John has been a little...awkward, but he's not a bad person, but needs someone to help guide him down the right path. John and Bruce are similar to a degree, both of them have issues they are dealing with, only problem is Bruce has confidence, whereas John doesn't, and I think a large part of that played in the underrated part of Alfred looking after Bruce, whereas John really didn't have anyone. And granted if you decide to prevent him from becoming The Joker, it still shows you how cruel life can be, that no good deed ever goes unpunished. It's gonna be all the more painful when you know it's going to boil down to these two men fighting to the bitter end.
i honestly think episode 5 harley will be the villain and not john: at the end of the game you can see the player choices and there's some interesting ones for john trusting him will turn him into a: vigilante going against him will turn him into a: villain (joker) ep 5 batman, john vs harley wouldn't that be cool

Juding by episode 5 and the end of season 4 (if you believe he is innocent) I really want to believe he is innocent. Yeah he killed in self-defense (judging by his claims) but he wasn't doing his hero training at the time. It's not easy to not kill when you got a bunch of agents shooting at you.
I don't think it was self-defense, but he just simply snapped from all the stress and from thinking he couldn't trust anyone amongst the "good guys". He was HORRIFIED at what happened when he came back to his senses. This is the most conflicted he ever acts at any point in the game. He'll betray you or Harley way easier than this. But he knows he lost control, he knows you'll realize it, and he knows you might turn against him for it... and that's just fucking terrifying to him.

However, given the context, it's pretty clear that he is still mostly telling the truth: whatever it was the agents did to him, it was enough to scare him, to provoke him to attack. He likely does genuinely believe he'd be the one dead on the floor otherwise. He's giving you the lie not so much to deceive you, but to offer you the chance to accept the lie. To him, calling out the lie means calling out his intentions, not his actions. After all, he accepts your lies even when he knows they're lies, and doesn't even let on that he knows. He wants to trust you to do the same. He wants you to trust that he's lying to you for a good reason, that you understand it's a relatively insignificant lie.
I always wondered by Batman refused to kill the Joker despite all the horror and tragedy that psychopath created.... Now I know why. John was Bruce’s only friend and ironically, he still is. Had John not become the Joker, he could have been something different, maybe even a different version of Red Hood. Its always tragic to see how many friendships in fiction (Guts/Griffith of Berserk, Anakin/Obi Wan of Star Wars, and so forth) end up going sour because of the evils of someone much worse who corrupted them.
Well, if you're talking about the comics/movies/arkham games, it's not really because of this, since this version of the Joker's origin was made by telltale, Joker has many different origins, but most of the time Batman refuses to kill him because of his code, and not because of a past friendship

Even now he *knows* he's been shaped and is still being shaped by both Bruce and Batman, and he wants Bruce to recognize that
Bruce brought light into his life (by choice ofc), but what I love is the detail of him literally turning on the light in this scene and it acts like a spotlight over John, the bodies and all the circus stuff. Kind of like with all the good Bruce gave, it also highlights how messed up John was and the things he lacked. I imagine he often compared himself to Bruce as he was his idol/role model/target of obsession and everything John wished he could be
I like the contrast with Harvey, who holds a little more to that identity if you approach him as Bruce, while falling in his villain persona of Two-Face if you confront him as Batman. --- John on the other hand? He can't simply be John, because John is a nobody with no memories, with nothing, maybe he forgot because he just despised that normal existence. That's why he is in so much need of attention and validation, and tha'ts why he likes Bruce: Because he is Batman. He will inevitably gravitate to that extreme personality, be it by becoming his sworn enemy, or by becoming Him.
Honestly this series made me call in love with John/the joker. I wanted nothing more in this series than for Batman and he joker to be friends and everything work out for them.

Well he is insane and joker hadn't murdered anyone up until episode 4 where he kinda snapped and the insanity took control completely. He tried to keep it at bay these other episodes but then yeah. Also he did confess to bruce that he has this feeling like an animal inside. ofc he is responsible for his crimes but he got in the wrong gang/environment which may have had a big part in triggering his going down a wrong path. Though bruce tries to influence him to do good and it kinda backfires a little thanks to waller trying to kill joker after he helped them with harley quinn.
I love the psychology aspect of this scene, its deep and shows a refreshing side to Joker who just needs help, trust and guidance in a very messed up time of his life. AND THAT HUG, sorry, but that makes me ship them a tiny bit XD

I am still scanning other options like drinking the slushie when Harley propose for Bruce in epiosde 2 or refuse/accept the hi5 in episode 3. This would takes sometime as everytime I need to go through the game all over again

This is by far the most PIVOTAL moment in the game, as while we know his destiny is to become The Joker, we can at least ease some of the damage. Here we see a man literally thrown into a corner at arguably his lowest point. Harley, the love of his life on the verge of either, leaving him or getting killed, or both. As much as people love The Joker I love the direction Telltale went with this as I find this realistic. Here we see John on the verge of crumbling and as the player (Bruce) you are the only thing from preventing him from going off on the deep end. We've known that John has been a little...awkward, but he's not a bad person, but needs someone to help guide him down the right path. John and Bruce are similar to a degree, both of them have issues they are dealing with, only problem is Bruce has confidence, whereas John doesn't, and I think a large part of that played in the underrated part of Alfred looking after Bruce, whereas John really didn't have anyone. And granted if you decide to prevent him from becoming The Joker, it still shows you how cruel life can be, that no good deed ever goes unpunished. It's gonna be all the more painful when you know it's going to boil down to these two men fighting to the bitter end.

at the end of the game you can see the player choices and there's some interesting ones for john

Juding by episode 5 and the end of season 4 (if you believe he is innocent) I really want to believe he is innocent. Yeah he killed in self-defense (judging by his claims) but he wasn't doing his hero training at the time. It's not easy to not kill when you got a bunch of agents shooting at you.
I don't think it was self-defense, but he just simply snapped from all the stress and from thinking he couldn't trust anyone amongst the "good guys". He was HORRIFIED at what happened when he came back to his senses.
This is the most conflicted he ever acts at any point in the game. He'll betray you or Harley way easier than this. But he knows he lost control, he knows you'll realize it, and he knows you might turn against him for it... and that's just fucking terrifying to him.

@@phatxity9948 There's a good chance it didn't happen like that. He's definitely lying to you in this scene. However, given the context, it's pretty clear that he is still mostly telling the truth: whatever it was the agents did to him, it was enough to scare him, to provoke him to attack. He likely does genuinely believe he'd be the one dead on the floor otherwise.
He's giving you the lie not so much to deceive you, but to offer you the chance to accept the lie. To him, calling out the lie means calling out his intentions, not his actions. After all, he accepts your lies even when he knows they're lies, and doesn't even let on that he knows. He wants to trust you to do the same. He wants you to trust that he's lying to you for a good reason, that you understand it's a relatively insignificant lie.
I always wondered by Batman refused to kill the Joker despite all the horror and tragedy that psychopath created....
Now I know why. John was Bruce’s only friend and ironically, he still is. Had John not become the Joker, he could have been something different, maybe even a different version of Red Hood. Its always tragic to see how many friendships in fiction (Guts/Griffith of Berserk, Anakin/Obi Wan of Star Wars, and so forth) end up going sour because of the evils of someone much worse who corrupted them.
Well, if you're talking about the comics/movies/arkham games, it's not really because of this, since this version of the Joker's origin was made by telltale, Joker has many different origins, but most of the time Batman refuses to kill him because of his code, and not because of a past friendship

Idk why people keep thinking telltale is actually telling the actual origin story, this is just telltales universe. Batman actually has killed the joker before, read the killing joke.

"I've just been sitting here in the dark until you came in" (6:21) Thats such a chilling delivery, and the way he says that implies that John recognizes the outsized influence that Bruce has had on him in their relationship even from the beginning, when he was just sitting in Arkham until Bruce came in and made things exciting. Even now he *knows* he's been shaped and is still being shaped by both Bruce and Batman, and he wants Bruce to recognize that
Bruce brought light into his life (by choice ofc), but what I love is the detail of him literally turning on the light in this scene and it acts like a spotlight over John, the bodies and all the circus stuff. Kind of like with all the good Bruce gave, it also highlights how messed up John was and the things he lacked. I imagine he often compared himself to Bruce as he was his idol/role model/target of obsession and everything John wished he could be

That's why he is in so much need of attention and validation, and tha'ts why he likes Bruce: Because he is Batman. I hate to see John sad. It's so sweet to work with him into becoming...possibly a good Joker who will unfortunately be seen as 'evil' to the world with Batman included. Stevean2 Maybe but this joker tries to be good and he's conflicted. he can't help some of his actions because of it! If he hadn't been caught up with harley quinn, bane, freeze and riddler maybe he could have been a functioning member of society eventionally.
Well he is insane and joker hadn't murdered anyone up until episode 4 where he kinda snapped and the insanity took control completely. He tried to keep it at bay these other episodes but then yeah. Also he did confess to bruce that he has this feeling like an animal inside. ofc he is responsible for his crimes but he got in the wrong gang/environment which may have had a big part in triggering his going down a wrong path. Though bruce tries to influence him to do good and it kinda backfires a little thanks to waller trying to kill joker after he helped them with harley quinn.
