I agree KO, Oldtown has to step up their game. They were the first with integrated motors and a AP w/spotlock up front and a bigger (180) brushless in back would be another game changer.
Im proof that the stickers on your truck has led to a sub. I was behind you this past Friday on the 408. Grabbed a quick picture of your truck. Now here I am subscribed and watching videos!!
The speed acheived from hull design change would come at a cost. The cost would be stability. I added an NK300 engine to the back of my autopilot 136 and can achieve anywhere from 4.5 to 8 mph depending on with or against tide. The nk engine would probably achieve a higher speed with a different hull design, but again, at the cost of stability, and 5 to 8 mph is plenty fast enough for a kayak. Very happy, don't know that I need any faster than that. Would rather not flip my yak and lose my stuff. Did a review of the nk300 on my youtube channel showing the test and resulting speed in separate vids, one with and the other against the tide. Compromising stability is not an option for me, nor do I think it wise to want to go too fast in a kayak as other issues could occur.
8mph is plenty enough for speed on a kayak. I need to see the new kayak from Old Town with a new hull design and higher lb thrust brushless motor to achieve that 8mph max speed. Right now, most people get only 3.5mph avg from the Minn Kota trolling motor 45lb thrust power which is way slow especially if you run into current, waves, wind etc. Then, you end up with 2.5 mph max which is super slow and dangerous at the same time if you are trying to go from A to B during weather in FL. Yes, you can add so many motors to the existing kayaks but that's more money as well. Thanks for your feedback. I did watch your video 👍
@FishingFloridaWithKO Agreed! Cost me 3k to get that done, but with the frequency that I fish, I didn't wanna feel limited in my ability to cover ground with current, so it was worth it to me. Not everyone will feel the same, so it depends on the person. Hey thanks for checking out my vid, appreciate you! 😁
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis of course! 😎I'm gonna wait and see whet Old Town will come out with. I hear rumors. If not, I'll sell my older AP 120 and get the new fire tiger limited edition model and put the nk300 or 180.. I really need to get more speed like you did to cover more areas in less time while fishing! Tight lines 🤙
KO, I sole my 120 Auto and bought the 106 Powered By Minn Kota, Loved the 120 but I;m 77 and can handle the 106 a lot easier. To my surprise I like the 106 without spot lock and the remote much easier to handle. Love the 106 Powered By Minn Kota, Try one and you will see. ALSO the 106 fits completely in my Dodge Caravan , passenger seat is removed, Smaller lighter is the way,
Everyone is different. We all have different needs and way of fishing. That's the beauty about kayaks. You can find any style of kayak to fit your style of fishing 👍
I have my hobie outback 2022. Most the guys I meet have oldtown, and I usually only hear good things. I have thought about maybe making the switch or trying one someday. That spot lock sure would be nice 😂
I hear you! By the way, I'm selling my 2022 Old Town Sportsman autopilot 120 fishing kayak! Only $3200. Great condition! I'm gonna get the new fire tiger limited edition! 😎 Let me know
@FishingFloridaWithKO very cool. The fire tiger color is so cool🤩. That's the color I would get to. Look forward to seeing what you get. Tight lines brotha. 😎🤙
I don't want it Bigger, better, faster I want a fishing kayak that is stable, ready to mount a motor and other upgrades, and big enough to put a cooler and light weight I really care less for speed I just want to fish and stay on top of the kayak not in the water.
I love my MK106. Would be awesome if Oldtown upgraded the motor for it and sold it separately. Great videos!
Yes! It will be great to just buy the E-PDL plus motor and attach it to MK or AP. Thanks for watching 👍

Do you think they’ll drop details this November or are you saying November 25 for details?
Looks like they will announce something in January! It's been postponed

I did try it. It's a nice one but I'm so used to my AP 120 with spot lock. I'm waiting for the next big thing from Old Town! 😎 Thanks for watching 👍
