    Siglemic is the GOAT of sm64, nobody can change my mind. His times might not be the best anymore, but his talent was undeniable and his streams were an unforgettable experience. It'll never be 2012-2014

  • @theguest103

    Wow..I found speed kicking on my own around the same time the speed running community did, in 2014. There were a lot of good romhacks releasing, and throughout gameplay, I kept getting weirdly long kicks while trying to start a triple jump chain..I realized that by holding a little away from neutral it was possible to conserve a lot of speed. I love how every time I play sm64, there's something new to learn about it's movement. I know so much about sm64 these days that it's hard to imagine anything new, but it's always something I've never considered before that surprises me.

    Was surprised to hear the direction changing on sideflips isn't popular, although to be fair I play casually on keyboard (with emulator obv) so it's probably WAY easier for me. I assume with an actual analog stick it's tough to get consistently.

    Sm64sr evolves 🤘 makes me wonder if sm64 will ever get a frame perfect record like the classic 2d games have

    • @twig7219
      @twig7219 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it will not. Even for the 2d games, SMB1 is a special case among them where a combination of framerules + very simple movement rules makes it possible to be frame perfect. SMB3 for instance has so many tiny optimizations that frame perfection will never happen. SM64 is so much harder than even that because perfect movement also requires stick angle + magnitude perfection in so many ways. The vast majority of single stars records don't even match TAS yet, let alone entire runs.

    I don’t think it was technically discovered in 2010. I sorta learned about releasing the joystick during my jumps to perform a super jump, and to get into Bowser the fancy way (no stairs). My older cousins friend liked to show off, he was also part of a game club thing he had me believing were all elite gamers.
    He taught me a lot of neat stuff, and quirks.
    Edit: speed runners need to find mega nerds from the day and to get them to play showing off recording them.
