Just cause he was smart enough to stop early doesn’t mean he wasn’t an addict. I’m 19 and stay away for the same reasons. Being suicidal like Jim was at that age, it’s a scary thing to get into because you need to numb yourself from the pain so it’s constant
I saw Stanhope in Hammersmith. Got so hammered I don't remember a line. It was the gig I finally took hold of my intake pre-gig. Never been as bad since. Thanks, Doug.
Ironically hedberg SPECIFICALLY said he did NOT want rehab. And little yimmy thinks everyone should QUIT drinking like him....2 yrs before even being able to even legally drink. Yimmy u wrong on this one, hes trying to project his own thoughts onto everyone else. From a boy who couldnt hold his liquor at 19, while other men who CAN he thinks are wrong bc HE couldn't handle it 2 yrs BEFORE he was legally able to drink. Hes SOOO funny when hes chill and relax but AWFUL as a social justice warrior I LOVE this guy he breaks down each point and DESTROYS little tiny yimmy. Stanhope just became 1 of my top 10 favorite comics EVER...and just FYI yimmy "doesnt know ANYONE who isn't addicted now or earlier to something" is bc he considers EVERYTHING "an addiction" as bad as heroine, since hes never done anything except cigarettes and alcohol as a TEENAGER. he considers food an addiction, cigarettes, alcohol that is legal despite him not even being able to make it to a legal drinking age before tapping out, coffee, caffeine...yes yimmy, when even coffee and food are on same "level" as heroine and u HAVE NEVER DONE HEROINE...u just sound ignorant, short sighted, and silly. Atta boy Doug PUT HIM IN IS PLACE. total annihilation
Doug is greatest. When Jimmy "I was once drunk when I was 17yo" debating Doug about AA bullshit was just infuriating. Don't argue abut shit you dont know anything about with long time functional alcoholic like Stanhope.
Except all the stuff he said that was wrong about Alcoholics Anonymous. Also his complete lack of knowledge or experience about what happens when people like Hedberg or Stanhope use psychedelics and develop profoundly different philosophies on life. Doug is 100% correct in saying that Jimmy doesn't understand that not everyone thinks like him. Based on every drinking story I've ever heard Jimmy tell he had a serious problem with mental illness and decided to blame the alcohol for the psychotic behavior because being a perpetually recovering alcoholic was a cooler identity than "I got raped several dozen times as a child and now I'm weird."
@@reillyobrien4372 very well said upon listening to this several more times I agree with you, there is a weird arrogance to Jimmy's opinions about any type of drinking or drug use
“Hi my names Jimmy. I’m an alcoholic...” Jimmy drank as much in his life as Stanhope did that day.

@@clwww A melodramatic teenager. How original.
@@clwww see how you feel in a couple of years you big stupid mope!
@@rippspeck so being suicidal is melodramatic? It's people like you that make me wanna drink
Love Jimmy but he’s ruined more than one show arguing over nothing.
36:13 i wish patrice was alive for one hour so he could trash this INFURIATING sigh from jimmy
I find it weird this was released 4 yrs and all the comments are from this yr (2021)
God, every time Stanhope is on, Jimmy gets uh.. very weird about his AA based shit.
Because Stanhope openly trashes it and is clearly an alcoholic
Doug understands life better than jimmy.

The Doug Stanhope intervention isn't going well.

Come on my people, let's get this comment section crackin.
My god jimmy is so annoying in this. Drama queen. Just because he was a light weight he thinks he was an addict
Doug always had this underlying anger to him. I hope he's doing much better these days.
Counting Crows *BOO*
Jimmy is usually decent at debating but stanhope wiped the floor with that unfinished clone
Jimmy is ..........
There are a lot of addicts in these comments lol jimmy didn't say anything wrong
