Caprylic triglycerides and coconut alkanes are very, VERY different from regular coconut oil! This is a very common misconception. They go through a process to remove the short and medium chain fatty acid's which are the ones responsible for congestion. These are actually quite non comedogenic but there are other ingredients in this foundation there are comedogenic, and I'm not talking about regular dimethicone! That is actually a rather nice ingredient and barrier occlusive.

please make a video on how foundation oxidizes differently on different skin types. They always dry to a darker tone on my skin. I am very curious why this happens.
If you’re oily, that would be a reason that it would oxidize darker over the course of the day. Do you notice this with your bronzer as well ?

I would try color correcting with a salmon color concealer to cancel out the blue.
if u already have a coral or orange tone red lipstick, apply a thin layer under your eye before the concealer will help to reduce the blue or purple looking under eye :) Cheaper way too
I am a WOC and ordered the coverage formula of The Ordinary's colors foundation. I was really impressed at how well the color adjusted to my complexion. I can honestly say, colormatch wise, it looks better than the NARS, MAC, Maybelline and L'Oreal products I have purchased. It was a long time to wait but I feel like it was totally worth it and THE PRICE is unreal. I am a real fan of quite a few of their products.

I have a love hate relationship with this foundation, it looks BEAUTIFUL on my skin and the only foundation that I have found that matches me perfectly. However, it does break me out a bit and I I have normally clear skin. So I just wish they would take the coconut alkanes out! It's so natural looking with the most beautiful finish!

I am using Dan Kern's The Regimen for Acne and it works really good. After I survived the first 3 months of The Regimen, I followed Liah's skin care routine using The Ordinary products and my skin now is the best. TH-camrs who share information like this are gifts from heaven. Before you worry what makeup to use on your face, have a solid skin care routine first. Everything will follow :)
I'm a NC 20 and purchased 2.0 YG. Despite having warm undertone, it was too dark and yellow for me so like Liah, I would suggest purchasing N instead!

I love this foundation! I wouldn't call it matte, it's more like realistic as it has a real skin like glow, as opposed to a "flatness" that give the telltale matte quality. I reckon it's HD. The serum branding is due to the consistency. Having oily combo skin in the summer, this foundation has performed better than my beloved Bareminerals Skin Rescue and outlasts it. It is highly pigmented and I prefer to use a tiny amount with my fingers, then buff it gently with a clean fluffy foundation brush. You can't see it's there, as its skin, but better.

I was wondering if she had ever done a video about tips for cold climate skin care routines. Winter can be pretty harsh on my skin and I'd like to know what I could do against that.
I did find this foundation to be drying too! Or at least in certain areas. I thought it would be super hydrating and dewy, but it isn't. Still better than most drugstore foundations, and really really good if you consider the price.

I was about getting the 2.0N for my self, but after watch this, i'm starting to doubt my choice. Your skin definitely lighter than mine, and it suits you very well. But the 2.1Y is too dark for me (based on my research lol😅). Got me so confused 😢

Wow sounds great. The best thing is it provides different shade options and I'm more into yellow undertone but the moment I heard coconut oil ahh I am allergic to coconut oil. Thank you liah for mentioning that. I want to try other product from the ordinary... 😄😄

This is so random but ive been using a moisturizer and it doesnt seem to break me out (i have oily skin too) but doesnt seem to be super effective at the same time. This is its ingredient list:

I have oily and sensitive skin
yep liah has videos on treating acne i've watched it and it similar as my skin care routine. products i use was cheap (i am a cheapskate he he).
i double cleanse (oil based - Nature Republic Forest Garden Chamomile Cleansing Oil), (water based - neutrogena deep clean gel cleanser)
then i moisturised (cerave moisturizing lotion). this moisturise is perfect for oily skin trust me.
last, i apply suncreen (biore milk sunscreen perfect uv - the blue bottle)
this is a very simple routine because i am lazy LOL. 4 steps. and once a week, i will apply mud mask (also from nature republic)

Hi, Liah! I’m from Indonesia. Thanks for your videos and advices. It really helps me previously to fix my skincare routine! Regarding foundation, I don’t use it daily, and I am comfortable with my bare face. However, I wonder if there is any base products that can make me more “presentable” on some occasions while doing no harm to my skin. Is there any recommendations? Cc cream, bb cream, tinted sunscreen, tinted moisturizer, or any kind of lightweight products are okay. I heard that estee lauder bought Deciem company. I have been loving deciem lately but not sure they will change their formula or not because they are the sub now. What are your thoughts about that? Btw love watching your vids
HotaTeen they bought out large shares in Deciem but they don't own them. They have already said that EL will have no control. The owner has written a letter about it: deciem.com/estee-lauder-partnership
I don't see Brandon as a guy who would give up the ethos of the company just because another big company owns a part of their shares, and this doesn't mean EL acquired the company in anyway. I see the fund can help them out in expanding and fulfilling the orders more promptly!
I have been worrying about this too, but only because I know that Deciem is cruelty free and Estee Lauder is not, so I was a bit worried about how it would effect that. But now that I know they have no control over the company this puts me more at ease, since being cruelty free is very important to me.
HotaTeen Deciem hasn't been bought fully out. If you go to their website, they address the concerns involving EL. I personally have been reassured, hopefully the will address the stock issues.

Hi Liah I completely agree with your review I also got 2.0 in the serum and the coverage foundation they are supposed to be neutral tones but they are too yellow for me. The coverage one is even more yellow and both turned darker with wear on me. I have dry mature skin (over 40) and neither of these work for me they make my skin look worse throughout the day and emphasizing the texture on my face for some reason even though I enjoyed the application first hand because it's so easy to blend with high coverage.. but it ends up cracking everywhere and made my skin look dried and dull..I'm glad they are not expensive 😊. Thanks for the review.

I love this foundation, better than the coverage foundation! I have shade 2.0 YG and 2.1 Y, I mix them together but I use more 2.0 than 2.1. I love the finish!
Super glad you reviewed this product because I've been looking for someone I trust to give their honest opinion. Saw on your instagram that you are going to review on the Neutrogena light therapy mask!! I'm SUPER keen to see it because I bought the product as soon as it launched but I had some people pointing out that the light is going to cause damage my eyes because the small little black plastic eye protection inside isn't enough with long term use so i got scared and chickened out. I would like to believe that i was seeing results despite having some confounding factors like starting the ordinary's niacinamide serum and also only water cleansing in the morning. I was really at my lowest with my skin when i started using the mask..my skin was irritated, breaking out, taking super long to heal and i think i did notice that my skin was more firm, supple and faster to heal with usage. Maybe my face is too big hahaha but the breakout near the ears didnt benefit as much. Cant wait for your video!!! ❤️❤️

hai liah i have a question about sunscreens. I am considering to buy the elta md sunscreen. but just want to ask your opinions about other sunscreens such as neogen and dr jart sunsreens before purchasing. would really mean to me to hear your thoughts about this
miezah96 as far as I know Neogen sunscreen has a great texture but it is a chemical sunscreen which my skin is sensitive to, therefore haven't tried it. dr jart has different kinds but nothing really stood out to me with the price. I chose Elta me uv clear since I'm looking for a chemical & mineral hybrid sunscreen that's still dominant with zinc oxide and it has a great cosmetic elegance :)

아스코빌이 비타민C 계열이라 나이아신하고 같이 쓰면 안되요. 서로 호환이 되는게 아니라, 상극관계. 부페에 나이아신이나 비타민C 들어있는지 성분확인해 보시고, (Overkill - Not good at all)없으면 다 같이는 아니고, 부폐 + 나이아신 이나 부페 + 아스코빌 조합으로 쓰시면 될것 같은데요.

hi liah, thanks for the review. do you have any idea how to deal with foundations that are clogging your pores like that too faced born this way foundie, i used it few times and i always get little whiteheads afterward altho i cleaned it just the same as usual. i like the formulation tho but i think my skin doesnt :(
If a foundation is clogging you up, it's not the right one for you sadly. Better stop using it before you get a real breakout and find something else
Martha Lim i just don't use them every single day or for more than 2 consecutive days just to give my skin a breather. i also don't wear foundations on a daily basis because they can be a little bit too much for my skin; so i much prefer bb creams and cushions for my "everyday" makeup. i can't just give up my full coverage foundations because i need them for events and special occasions so I just make sure to remove my makeup completely and cleanse my skin thoroughly to prevent breakouts and having clogged pores.

how can you tell when you pores are clogged?
imjennyha You can see bumps or the white sebum sort of coming out. If your pores arent clogged you just see your skin.

Hi! What shade do you use for Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea foundation? :) also are you really a MACNC25-30 because you look quite fair :o I was told that I'm a MAC NC20 but I feel like I'm darker than you 😂😅 I want to order the tarte foundation but can't de use on my shade, and singapore doesn't have it in Sephora or anywhere :/ so I'm a bit cautious cos I don't want to end up buying the wrong shade haha

Liah Yoo 리아유 Thanks for the reply. I have a urgent question! Is it OK to use rose hip oil on top of niacinamide without waiting time ? I'm confused as rose hip oil has Vitamin C in it and its known to not be advisable to use vit C with niacinamide as in cause flushing .

I tried 2 shades in neutral : 1.2 and 2.0, the last one is too dark xD but the 1.2N is the colour that match my skin the best ! Actualy I do not break out with this fondation but it fades really fast around my nose area even if i use setting powder xD and it's soooo hard to touch up with this when you're outside ~ it would be so nice if they do a cushion version of it ^^ !
