Waves J37, Waves Abbey Road Vinyl, Waves SSL Comp, Waves WLM Plus. Been somewhat liking the new Logic Pro Mastering plugin (AI?) but it has minimal controls. I like that it tells me how far off I am. Masterplan looks much better.
This is the most amazing plug-in ever created it takes my mixes to a whole new level I didn’t even think it was possible with this plug-in it’s finally coming out of the speakers instead of being stuck in the speakers!
@@Producelikeapro I am not taking any credit away from ozone none that is a goat program. But I like Masterplan better. Its so simple yet effective 👏 👏

@@InTheMixJoeCarrell I never miss your content gents, you are the very best at what you do and you inspire me to make better music and grow as an artist and producer! Cheers
Level matching isn't necessary for this plugin since its primary function is to master your song and increase the overall loudness. If you want to listen to the plugin's effect without the added loudness, use the Unity button located in the top right corner.
I tried the demo. It sounds good and I got results quickly.I did an A/B comparison with my mastering chain which includes-Slate Digital Tape Machine, Karzog Avalon VT-747SP, and Ozone 9 (Which I only use for a few of the modules). I couldn't quite get the sound I want from the Masterplan although it did sound good. Maybe it will take more messing around with it.
@@Producelikeapro After messing around with it some more, I found that if I run the tape and compressor before the Masterplan, it sounds great. I think that I am going to buy it now.
This is a really good plugin! I'm quite impressed with it. It's actually good to stick on the mix bus but without processing while mixing. Nice to use those alternate listening modes
Nice video, I'm intrigued. I wish in the mixing session you'd coupled the tape button with the loudness control just so we could hear that. Since it smeared out the mix and reduced the loudness, I wonder how the tape+loudness would together compare with having neither engaged.
Hi Warren, Nice video as always! Do you have a video about the recent Logic Pro mastering assistant? Can`t remember if you already did a video about it.
I am blown away by it , Had it downloaded as Demo and one second i Compared it With my own mastering Chain I buyd it Love the Clean and clear Sound , thank you Warren for the Recommendation 🔊💪
This looks amazing. At the moment I have other mastering products, which I am not embarrassed to say are more automatic. The issue is that for anything I don’t like which the plug-in has adjusted, I have to adjust in the mix, which isn’t really the idea (unless massively out of place) and becomes very time consuming, as well as almost blending two what I understand should be two separate processes. For a one man home hobbyist, this could be great!
I use Izotope for my mastering (But i suck too). Question though, can you mix a 3" and a 5" monitor and still get good results or would it be better to just get 2 5"? one of my MX3's blew.....
Auto gain or level match would be a better label than unity. I missed that too for a few mins ha ha. Great plugin. The new goto for quick client competitive leveling when sending off mixes. 👍
I usually split my masters between two limiters. Would you use this limiter as a last plugin in a mastering chain? Or maybe follow this up with a Fabfilter L2?
I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer for that. Whatever it takes to get you where you want to be. I personally just use one. In reality, we are getting the effects of two though since we are hearing limiting and clipping as part of master plan.
good for the rock n pop bands, but how does it stand up for cinematic music with instruments that have a greater dynamic range great review warren all the best from Shrewsbury Shropshire Phil 👍
I'm always tempted by what appears to be a great one-shot fx that I imagine can do it better than me and several fx. But when I've bought one in the past I always ended up feeling it didn't manage what I achieve with several good plugins. Plus I feel sort of shut out from understanding what is going on and controlling it myself. And so the new purchase ends up unused on the shelf. My original one-shot purchase was Ozone and I have to admit that if I've want a quick 'mastering' job done so I can assess a mix, it does a pretty good job most times. So, although I'm very tempted by this one, I think I'd be wise to pass on it! And, although I'm a musician first and foremost, after a few years practising the art of mixing, I am getting better at relying on my own judgement, and in using FXs to proper effect. So I enjoy doing that and increasingly feel that using a one-shot Fx is cheating myself out of the fun of the challenge.
It's funny but I came to the opposite view, I've got Ozone but often find it too hard to get to grips with it without it sounding harsh or over-colouring. I did like Master Plan for its simplicity and transparency. Meh I dunno. I guess none of them will turn my crap mix into the finished article 🙂
In that category of 'magic tools', Optimus is much more impressive to my ears. You can almost get something decent out of a pretty bad start. It also looks a lot better and the adjustment tools are more refined. Am too picky for these tools, but I could see the appeal for less geeky types.
Is there a loudness compensation in it? It's difficult to compare when the loudness is different. Sounds nice for me. And is there only 2 x oversampling? For fast mastering could this a good solution.
I have used Ozone subtlety to gear affect. However, I quite often get songs to mix that Ozone is on the Masterbus that has changed the mix so dramatically that without the whole mix sounds very different! It’s a great tool when used subtlety
Nah. Tried it but here are some problems: can't adjust the attack and release of the limiter; can't adjust channel linking; can't forgo oversampling which may then dull transients (More isn't necessarily "better."); and finally, the tape emulation doesn't sound as good as the real thing. So I say, look into reels. Like, real reel-to-reels, clipping actual converters, and finishing off with a limiter with more control and parameters! Just my .02 anyway
Tape is a retro notion - today's music is all about Digital Plug-Ins, DAWS and embracing the new technology which has been surpassing analog in terms of sound definition for decades now🎸
