    For this special occasion, I wanted to explore how someone on a really tight budget could make the BMPCC4K work for them. This is for those of you who really want to get some experience with a cinema-style camera, but just don't have the budget to buy all the stuff everyone tells you you need to buy for this camera. You don't need a cage, you don't need fancy cine lenses or any of that. So we talk about the bare minimum you need to start using this camera and how to best go about doing it for under $1700.

      Has the M42adapter crop correction? FF to MFT is almost a crop factor of 2 to 1. So for a Full Frame nifty fifty mm equivalent you'd have to buy something like an 28mm vintage lens right?
      And I can't find the "list below" of vintage lenses you like.

      I am still rocking the adaptor with npf 970 batteries today and it is the most cost effective solution for battery power. You can buy 2 of those batteries for like 60$ and everyone last you at least 3/4 hours

    I just switched to Cfats 2.0 cards on my 4K and I can't 't tell you how much easier it is now to use. No more struggling with the stupid external drives and the awful mounts that are available. It's so much more pleasant an experience. I say skip the external and invest. You'll thank me for it later.

      C-Fast is a great alternative as well! I've used all three of the storage methods available but price wise and how my workflow is, SSD's just work way better for what I do. But no dig on C-Fast at all!

  • @The-Travel-Man
    @The-Travel-Man ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You did not mention that with vintage full frame glass, you'd need to look into wide angle lenses to account for 2x crop factor. A sweet spot would be 24mm full frame, which would give one about 50mm focal length on pocket 4K. A good 24-28mm fast vintage lens can be pricey. For the same amount of money one can get a fixed focal length Panasonic Lumix lens in native MFT.

    Hey Great video,
    I totally agree with you,about vintage lens but actually you could go the TT artisan MFT lens way as well...specially the 50mm F1.2 is nice.
    About vintage totally agree RD mount for example...radioactive or not I have 1 Gen Vivitar pump f3.5 70-210 and it is fantastic almost parfocal on Viltrox Fmount speed booster.
    Actually great speed booster for the price 70$...no need for metabones in the begining and the Vivitar was in pristine condition...if you find some first gen 50 years old with 2* teleconverter like me if the glass is good take it...this pump system that you focus and zoom with the same gear is great for filming handheld with little practice I don't know why they abondonned the design it is mega fast to focus and zoom in the same time...

    I thought oh my olympus om 28mm vintage lense would make a nice 56mm equivalent. I looked for an 18mm (32mmFF) cost £1000 hahaha they are so rare lol. Even the contax zeiss 18mm sells on ebay around £600 . But i'm really leaning toward the meike mft cine lenses they look really good and for around £300 that's really good. I've seen lots of really nice footage with them. Minimum focus breathing good build, not oversharp and nice bokeh. Looks good ! Love this video !! I'm a stills photographer really interested moving into making good quality film for 5 years, just can't afford it. The GH6 caught my attention but now i'm looking at the bmpcc4k again (kinda thinking about the 6kpro because i have EF carl zeiss 50mm ze 2.0 and canon 70-200f4ii ) i love all the codec options on the gh6 with no crop really high res. I think i would should mostly 4k anyway 6k probably a bit overkill for me right now but maybe a nice to have. So yeah i'm kind of all up in the air about what to go for . I have to think about what codecs i'll shoot mostly i think it will be mostly 4k 24fps and 60fps .. 120 and 240 fps no crpo in 4k would be nice on the gh6.. but not sure it would be used that much. It's a lot of money, and i am saving up for a macbook pro m1 to handle all the data and processing to add to the cost. : ) Anyway this is really useful ! So thankyou very much .. : )

    Some people are worried that radioactive lenses might be bad for the sensor. On a still camera the shutter protects the sensor but on a video camera the radiation exposure increses.
    I think I might still have super takumar and a bunch of other vintage lenses. I bought my lenses at the time when it wasn't cool to use these, almost 20 years ago. Later I sold most and even made some profit.
    I do regret selling some of the lenses now. I had an almost mint 16mm Zenitar in the original packaging. Although, I tend to think that the buyer probably had more use for it than I had and I wish it has served well.
