This brings back a nice memory. Back in the 70's, maybe 75/76 I was at Mayaro beach where the river ran along the beach and dive under the bridge. Indian bay I think. Lo and behold I saw a smoke herring swimming down the river. I was sold on the idea here was the region where Smoked herrings were caught. For years I believed that even thought my mom and older siblings told me that smoked herrings were made by smoking herrings. I believed my story fro many a year as a child.
Sweetheart it’s called herring while swimming in the water.
After it’s caught it’s smoked to preserve the fish from going bad back in the day when refrigeration was limited.
So what you saw in the water was called herring. Regards
Mmmmmm. That looks so good!
One more reason to build my smoke house!
probably the only smoked item I like.. when you build it I will come (smile)
You will be welcome.
man that look good.....
I love the videos with your family. This is as interesting as the one where you made coconut milk together. :) I love the outdoor kitchen. :)
thanks kindly.. more to come
Good recipe Chris. I have never tried it will hot oil before, but I will now.
do try.. it adds a bit more flavor when poured directly on the sliced onions
Hi Chris thanks
most welcome.
Hey I see that your home 🙏🙏👍👍 do another video with other family member ,hope you feel better👍👍
thx.. felling much better now
Can this be made with canned smoked herring
Some brands of packaged smoked herring can't be boiled, they are too fragile, you have to just pour boiling hot water, leave for 30 minutes, drain and repeat. I remembered my childhood days, my would cook this every Sunday morning, served with slices of Zaboca and fried bake.
Yummy
it was indeed
