I get what you’re saying with Tobey being the one to stop Tom instead of Andrew, but I have a counterpoint:
Much like how Andrew was able to rectify his biggest failure as Spider-Man (the death of Gwen) by saving MJ, I thought it was appropriate for Tobey to be the one to stop Tom because he gets to rectify one of his biggest failures-not saving Norman from the glider, which ultimately led to his losing his best friend as well. This was something I picked up on upon rewatch and it played a lot better because of it-Tobey literally stopped the glider from killing Norman this time.

    • @Xehanort10
      @Xehanort10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Yep. In the Raimi trilogy Norman's actions as The Green Goblin and his eventual death and Peter honouring Norman's wish not to tell Harry because he didn't want his son to know the monster he'd become leads to Harry thinking Spider-Man murdered Norman, becoming obsessed with revenge, hiring Doc Ock to bring him Spider-Man so he can kill him, finding out Peter's Spider-Man and eventually becoming the 2nd Green Goblin to get revenge but he eventually finds out his dad killed himself trying to kill Peter and dies saving Peter and Mary Jane from Sandman and Venom. Tobey Peter was probably thinking "I know how you feel kid. He attacked and nearly killed my Aunt May too but he's insane and can't help himself when the Goblin takes over so if we cure him of the Human Performance Enhancers he'll be sane again and not a threat."

Really enjoyed your review. I do disagree with you on Andrew’s Peter catch MJ. The acting from him after catching her was enough to suggest to the audience that he’s happy he didn’t let the same mistake happen twice yet he knows that nothing he does will bring her back. Plus, it further helps reinforce his oath not to let Tom’s Peter turn into what he turned into. Andrew’s strongest scenes in my opinion dealt with his grief over Gwen’s death and how it’s shaped him since it happened.

Same. If he is acting different it is probably because his actions are what caused Gwenn to die. First. Broke his promise to her dad
2nd when she was leaving for Oxford almost safe and sound he wrote "I love you" in a huge spider web. That caused her to delay leaving. When Eldctro started messing with the grid there was no stopping her from trying to help stop him. Then he couldn't save her from falling to her death in time. Even if he caught her she probably still would have broke in half and died. It make sense he is a little different but He said it was the quips. He quipped plenty in TASM and in TASM 2 he quipped even more. Andrew Garfields Spider-Man humor and quips were NOT off putting to me and seemed normal. So idk why he said the quipps and jokes felt odd for AG

I'm late but I recently found this guy. I have almost the same taste as him. I've maybe disagree on like 4 percent of his reviews. Yes the movie explains that Toby SM has been thinking about how to make the cure for forever. Andrew Garfields SM has Already Cured the Lizard once. Al three SM are smart af anyways so I disagree about him just typing in the cure but I was also tired of Tony's Tech by now. That is why I loved the ending. He should be ow his own the next movie.
Tasm was in my top 3 Faborite SM movies. I also loves Tasm 2. Best Live Action suit. Both tasm have the best Swinging scenes and Views The Slo Mo Spider Sense in Tasm 2 is amazing looking. The chemistry and Acting from AG and ES are the best in any SM movie. AG has been my favorite since Tasm 1. The most talented actor. The best spiderman and his PP is great as well. The people considered nerds have changed Drastically since his orginal story in the comics. Also he was a jerk sometimes in one of the comic stories maybe Ultmate idr. So he was still an outcast/nerd in the Tasm movies. Tasm 2 may have an over stiffed story that isn't always coherent. The rhino was wasted but Green Goblin was actually dangerous and creepy af in Tasm 2. His laugh was on point. He looked evil af and he killed Gwen. I do wish they kept the scene of SM almost killing him after he killed Gwen but still the Las fight scenes with Max then immediately after that GG came in and that scene was intense. Tasm 2 did what a superhero movie should do. Great cgi, great acting, great action scenes, good emotional scenes, it is over hated. The story was all over but everything else the movie did it did great. I re watch the Tasm movies over lore than I have Rami and Mcu SM movies. I was glad to see AG finally get some love from people. The problem with Tasm 2 was Sony wanted to set up for Sinister 6 and The Black Cat spinoff and I'm sure more. The movie is still over hated and I am in the minority that love those 2 movies more than the others.

To your point on Andrew feeling off, I thought him Tobey and toms dialog was all great. Especially the 3 of them together. It was other characters dialog and humor that didn't land for me. I really thought Andrew got a great redemption run here in this film. He got to save MJ, when he was down on himself saying he sucks(in regards to fan response to his SM) Tobey tells him "No your Amazing" "Like really Amazing" and Andrew says "I really needed that". So to me it was a pleasure seeing him. And boy is he a God dam Liar.

I'm in the minority AG has been my favorite and the best SM and PP portrayed in Live action. People labeled "Nerds" have drastically changed over time. In some comics Peter was an outcast by choice and kind of a Jerk. His Spider-Man is goated and his PP is way more accurate than people give him credit for. His build is better as well. Tasm2 has the best luve action suit, best swinging scenes, best cgi, best chemistry with his love interest, Green Goblin Jr is better than the Harry from Ramis. He was creepy, looked badass/evil af. His laugh was cynical, and he killed Gwen. Rhino was wasted so I don't even count him as a bad guy in the movie. I consider the movie only having 2. The last act when he had to fight Max then immediately after that GG shows up . Up to Gwen's death is a grwat action scene. The slo mo scenes while using his Spider sense is so bad ass looking. Besides having a convoluted story because Sony wanted to set up the S6 and Black Cat spinoff for their Sony verse is what hurt the story. Along with some important scenes they cut. When it comes to the Suit, actors, cgi, chemistry, and being a fun super hero movie it does all of that right. I understand people not liking the movie but the hate fornit is ridiculous. Tasm 1 had a better story and it was put together so much better but TASM2 did everything else better and it's a fun movie they are My favorites to watch over. Not a fan of Tom Holland having all the tech since Homecoming. That is why I love the way this movie ended. Made his own suit. Living on his own and is actually solo now. Spiderman having all that tech took away from what makes him Spiderman. Toby is my 2nd favorite Spider-Man but AG is the GOAT. I really wish he would get a 3rd movie to finish off his triology.. He deserves it. I know I'm in the minority but it's just my opinion. TASM 1 & 2 are the GOAT SM movies and AG and ES are the GOAT love interest and AG is the GOAT SM with the best suit

  • @szymciupol

42:33 to be fair they did leave themselves decent out with the goblin cure with Tobey having a line like "ill do goblin, I've been thinking about it for a long time". And since we see it's been years since his trilogy in his universe i think they want us to think that he came up with the cure but way after fighting both goblins.
Point about having magic box and having similar or even better results with a small (i think school) lab does stand tho, it feels weird the knowledge of Tobey and Andrew made bigger difference than magic stark box compared to lab supplies.

So Cody here’s the explanation as to why Venom knows who Peter is, he mentions at the end of the post credit scene of Venom 2 that the symbiotes have a hive mind all throughout the multiverse so I assume he knows who Peter is and knows that he’s spider man through the RAIMIVERSE VENOM because obv in Spider-Man 3 Eddie figures out that Peter Parker is Spider-Man so I presume that the symbiote in that movie somehow communicated to Tom Hardy’s venom who Peter Parker is, idk this for sure but this is the best explanation there is for venom being warped into the MCU

    • @tylerjohnson8046
      @tylerjohnson8046 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This is the explanation. That’s why when he sees Tom on the motel TV, Venom goes “That…guy…”. Tom Hardy/Eddie doesn’t know who Peter is, but VENOM (the symbionte) knows Spider-Man’s identity, and he recognizes the spider suit.

It made the most sense that Tobey stopped Tom as he seeked revenge in the first movie and led the guy to his death and he also forgave Marco, Andrews Spider-Man however abandons finding bens killer halfway through the movie and it makes the most sense for Tobey so I disagree with that. Great review though man.👍🏾

I liked Green Goblin’s suit/mask personally, I get what people mean when they compare it to power rangers, but I didn’t mind and I wish we got to see more of it in No Way Home.
I liked Sandman in Spiderman 3 personally.
Also I agree that Electro in this movie feels different than he was in Amazing Spiderman 2.
Can’t say that Andrew Garfield felt different from the Amazing Spiderman movies myself though.
In terms of actors I like them all, but in terms of Spiderman Tobey is my favorite too (wouldn’t say he’s a campy version of the character, at least not in a bad way).
The “consciences” didn’t bother me, but I see where you’re coming from.
I thought they did a good job of giving Andrew Garfield a moment where he had tears in his eyes.
Can’t say I minded that it was Tobey that stopped the glider, but an interesting point even if I don’t agree myself.
Also didn’t have a problem with MJ in the raimi films, but I agree Gwen and Andrew in the Amazing movies was great.
Venom was a missed opportunity, but glad the symbiote stays. Not sure how he came and left the MCU though.
Overall I agree it was a great movie, definitely the best of the MCU Spiderman movies. Interested to see what comes next.
Didn’t mind the MCU stuff, but I do like Spiderman on his own and there is potential.
I do wonder how Sam Raimi or Marc Webb would have made it though if they had a say in it.

Cody: two of your grievances you are wrong about…
    1) Garfield’s Spider-Man feels different because it’s years after part 2 and like he said he’s grizzled, vengeful and it changed him
    2) I’ll give you Stark’s magic machine is a bit much but the cure for Green Goblin was created by Toby who specifically says he figured out the cure years too late as he couldn’t stop thinking about it (which is why it was his moment to stop Hollander from killing Osborne. He didn’t want to kill Osborne in 2001 but he had no choice… it was his redemption)

Yeah but in fairness, though other characters have had their identities revealed, they are usually characters who are able to handle something like that and more or less willingly gave their identities away.
Peter had no choice here, and is not something he was ready to deal with.
Plus he then got the added factor of people thinking he killed Mysterio. So that itself is reason enough for him to panic

I think when Cody watches the movie again he will have a different take on Andrew Garfield rescue of MJ. The emotion on his face and tears was a great moment, especially when MJ asked him 'if he was OK?'. Considering how much you remembered from a first watch Cody, you can be forgiven for this oversight. Great job with spoiler review! 👏

Great review man, I was mixed mostly on the Aunt may arc because for the past two movies like you said she was just the hot aunt so for me it was “oh so now all the sudden you wanna be the motherly figure that wants Peter to use his powers for good”, but you touched on the fact that this scene was acted so well by both actors and that they finally filled that missing void that most of us been wanting for Tom Holland Peter Parker that maybe it probably doesn’t matter that it was a complicated road to get there. Maybe on my second rewatch I’ll think differently but either way on point review and this movie was 🔥🔥.

I actually like it better that Tobey's the one stopping the revenge. First off because Garfield already had his great moment with M.J and on the sad off between all three spidermen. And second, just for the fact that Maguire is the most seasoned one, he lived through all this moments of life and has the capacity of being the mentor or Obi-wan if you will. I love thst he was the one who stoped Tom... Also... He has the most funny awesome doe eyes, how can anyone say no to those watery blue eyes man?!

Great review! I completely agree, I've been thinking recently that I miss the time where we didn't have all this theorising, analysing and dissecting trailers or hypothetical things that could happen in a film. We could just go in, no expectations, fresh eyes and a complete blank canvas, and just be surprised by what we see. Such a shame things aren't like that now.
Edit - I also completely agree that they should've lingered on certain moments, especially Andrew Garfield's Spider-man saving MJ. That part gave me chills, it was so poetically beautiful.

One thing I loved about that movie is that it really shown the strength of the Green Goblin. It's something now I realized I never really got from the Raimi's films. Because in the comics the serum that turn Norman into the Goblin really is pretty much a corrupt version of the super soldier serum. So I loved the scene in the building when Spiderman was fighting the Green Goblin and they were destroying that place. That felt soo satisfying for me.
Also I love that Tobey's Spiderman pretty much confirmed that he was still with his MJ and as he said 'They make it work', like I'm glad there's a still one Spiderman out there with a decent life.

  • @wardenmagellan2643

For me this movie was great and really Hype! Tobey was amazing as always and Andrew was actually a better version of his Spider-Man than he was in is own films. Charlie Cox had a great cameo scene. Some of the humour at the beginning didn’t worked for me, but it got better after twenty minutes or so. Electro was also way better than he was and Green Goblin was great as the main villain. Sandman was still great and Lizard was way funnier than expected. Seeing Doc Oc again was the best, but I have to admit that I didn’t love how the used him and how fast and obvious is change of heart was. The scenes I loved the most were: Tom’s Spidey and Sandman VS Electro, when Sandman explained to Tom what happened to other villains, when Andrew saves MJ, when Tobey mentioned Harry and MJ and when Sandman looked at Tobey with is piercing look. Oh and I laughed so hard when Bully Macgurie lashed out at the other Spidey’s about is web. J Jonah Jameson was great. The whole Dr Strange situation was not the best, but not the worst. For me, The best thing about this film is how it upgrades and improve every Spider-Man film to date, specially the last three to come out...

This film was pure joy. I went dark for 3 days when this movie was released I just saw it yesterday & NOTHING was ruined for me. Even though we are in a world where all superheroes are revealed its still different for Peter because everyone else are adults he's still a kid. Totally agreed with that Cody the comedy was a bit much it was like amateur hour at the Apollo. I really wish they knew what to do with Sandman I really like his character. I loved Electro here he was a standout for me. I already knew Dafoe & Molina were going to be perfection. But Jamie surprised me especially since he was so eh in TASM2. Yea it was kinda awkward with Aunt Mae saying the "power/responsibility" line. But I'm glad there's no rehashing of the uncle ben timeline in the Tom Holland Spiderman. Tobey is 46 I swear he was in his 50s too 😂😂😂. Andrew saving MJ broke me I was not ok i kinda wanted to slide on the ground & die. I agree I wouldn't loved to see a flashback to Andrew trying to save Gwen before he grabbed MJ. Tobey stopping Tom was special YES I really thought they were going to kill off my Tobey. I think Tobey should've been the one to stop Tom it was the glider that killed Norman in Tobey's films. Andrew got his moment with MJ. I love Sam Rami films but I despised Kirsten Dunst in those movies 😂😂😂 I wanted to punch her in the face! And I love Tom & Zendaya together on screen & real life ❤. Excellent review as always Cody

But I feel like the public finding out Spider-Man’s identity in the mcu would be a big deal, considering all the other avengers identities are known except for Spider-Man so people would be intrigued by that
