Absolutely a person has to drive defensively all of the time. And I really think we are doing little to attempt to get dangerous drivers off the road. I bet you will find other infractions, especially speeding if not worse with a lot of these drivers prior to something like this. Go after actual predictors and of course leave the imagining crimes out of the equation. And on the defensive driving personally I get real tired of having to dong the driving for so many others. Everyone needs to drive properly.
It's not always possible to get out of the way. If there is a large space in which to pull off the road and avoid a collision, great. But sufficiently roomy pull-offs aren't always present, and sometimes there's no place to go. And if there's a steep drop-off or cliff on your side, and you go over and roll, it can still kill you, but maybe your chances of surviving are much better than they would be in a head-on collision or a broadside impact. Sometimes, there just aren't any good choices. You may have a large wall or embankment on your side, and your only option is to crash into it instead of the car coming at you, and surviving becomes the luck of the draw. Driving is dangerous, more so these days with all the fools who are welded to their phones or brain fried on drugs or booze. Then, there are the impatient, rude boors who think of no one but themselves in an all-fired big hurry. LEAVE HOME EARLY ENOUGH THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEED TO GET TO YOUR APPOINTMENT ON TIME! It's amazing how some folks wait to the very last minute, then have to race to make their destination on time. COMMON SENSE ISN'T COMMON, sad to say.
Talking to the first responders that i know and some the stories they tell is some of the most horrific scenes imaginable.. i can tell it weighs heavy on their minds..scenes that can not be erased they must take home with them..I could not do what they do and not be effected daily without sadness and grief..i pray God comforts them to push on and let them know they are appreciated for their service to help others in hopes they recover..you are the unsung heroes to many

I'm sorry for you loss and I know Christmas can bring up powerful grief for those of us left behind. I should tell you that in 2006 Hamilton Ontario my cousin and her husband were in a fiery crash after a BMW with a DUI hit them at 2 AM. I had no piece or faith as I'm an atheist and I could not sleep or function. My Government boss Brenda insisted I get therapy of a sort to sleep as I was a mess and worried about suffering. I was sent to use a Medium the Police here use at times for unsolved cases. Dorthy changed my life and described what they were wearing at the time of the accident ,how the motor had broken motor mounts that only I knew of,and they were happy and at peace. They apparently review life events and have a school there and are around other deceased relative, friends and pets they loved. They want us to be happy as our pain is theirs and they watch over us and help us in life. YOU can speak to them while you are alone or go for a walk and my dad from 2002 cancer even leaves us dimes all over the place or to confirm things we ask and it may be nickles or quarters for some a book was written about that GOOGLE. Anyway what I have learned is that pain and grief comes from the end of that relationship ....but....you can still have a relationship they have just transformed. They have so much LOVE and energy so talk and tell them what hurts or what you need or a joke......they need that from you till you see them again on the other side.
Pearly Gates are not like a shopping mall. 1st in, 1st served, You have to wait your turn. Slow down, enjoy life, You only have 1 shot at it. There is room for all up there, Why rush to enter ?........
I was in a head on about 1 1/2 years ago. Had the truck I always wanted, a little Ford Ranger, stepside. Only got keep it 4 months. This car had a cop following him for having stolen plates. When they reached the edge of the cops jurisdiction, the cop pulled over and sat there and watched as they crossed over 4 lanes of traffic and hit my truck at 45 degree angle. To sit and watch as that car comes toward you, and there is nothing you can do to get out of his way, the scariest feeling in the world. From the moment I saw him until the moment of impact seemed like an eternity, but actually only took seconds. I did not even hear the sirens, I knew nothing until they broke out the smelling salts. If they still use those.
I had an accident a long time ago. I was stopped at a red stop light but a car coming over didn't have good tires and there was ice and snow so he went through the light. I know exactly what you mean I was just watching him, he hit another car but only on one corner and then hit me. You are sort of waiting for it, like you said in less than a minute and then get crunched when it hits you. It is very surreal.
As I was about to make my comment, which was to be, and is- that I've seen this cop in several video's, and he has been the utmost professional, level-headed, even-after-the-most-asinine-questions, I've seen, (what comes to my mind is, "damn fine man") when I noticed that, at least the first several comments, state the very same sentiment. Good to see that others, recognize this as well.
Wow, this poor deputy has seen SO many of these awful fatal accidents, and I can only imagine how many over the course of his career. But the poor people that perished, may God rest their souls. I can't understand why people cross over that center line so much, but of course we don't know why they did that. The people that pulled the kids out are true heroes, and to risk their lives they should be commended for that, especially the rescue teams. My sincerest condolences to the families. As I write this, it's been over 5years since this accident, and I hope the three children involved, are doing as well as can be expected.
I always try to be a careful driver. Have to admit watching these make me be more cautious driver. Biggest problem I see is when you do leave room between drivers there is always someone coming in and out of cars because WE follow the rules but there is always someone that thinks they need to get that one more car length than you.
Drives me crazy when reporters keep trying to dig for info when he clearly said we don't know and we are still investigating. Stop that crap and be patient instead of spreading unconfirmed details
Yeah, they act like they don't believe them when they tell them clearly that they don't know yet. They think they're holding something back, and sometimes in police work, an officer has to hold back certain details until investigations are completed. Getting at the truth is one thing, just being a bully is another. Reporters need to be more understanding and not on such ego trips.
Sounds like all the lady reporter wanted was the specifics on how bad these people were burned and killed. Didn't care about nothing else just the "gore" so to speak. Sorry for the use of the word gore. I feel bad for the family.
The officer does a great job answering the most stupid questions from news media who are so stupid in some of their questions, so insensitive ....journalism is a lost art, these freelancers sound so immature and uneducated.
The damage to both vehicles was enormous. No one could’ve survived in either vehicle. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💓💓💓💓
I understand the reporter was doing her job. But she was so cold with her canned questions. All she wanted was the most dramatic answers she could get to make a story. The officer just saw some things most of us never will or could walk away from without lifelong scars. How about asking him how HE'S doing!?
No wonder cops are so uptight and so serious if I had to deal with these types of situations I would be to. Investigating and viewing these things first hand would really screw with a persons mental state
That's why cops should be mature and have a good mind.... Not like some of the ones we have that can't handle the job....you know the ones that either got their lunch money stolen other ones at the home and beat their wives don't forget the ones on roids. Then we have maybe 20% good cops.
@@philz7462 you are very ignorant and it shows. You don't have what it takes to do what they do. Maybe you should sit down and stop making a damn fool of yourself. You talk about a job you know nothing about.
Reporters want the facts but they arrive too soon . The EMT and fire guys are still scraping people and their vehicles off the road. PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING.
Hope the kids made it. That's horrible that two people burnt up. I can't even imagine going through something like this. I feel so so so sorry for the family and friends of those who died. May they rest in peace

@@Padoinky ...Toyota mandated the materials, the thickness of metals, the amount of plastic now used, instead of steel/metal. That is how the gas mileage improves... not because of more efficient engines. Notice how many rollovers and how often the vehicle stops on its top.

How sad that one driver's stupidity caused 4 deaths and left children without parents. I wonder how the children are doing today, I hope none of them died from their injuries.
I can’t stand the reporter, like she’s not listening to what he has to say, he’s saying something and she’s repeating the same thing without listening to him She’s super insensitive with asking stupid dumb questions, she needs another job
That Deputy is great at answering questions. I would want to tell that reporter to shut the hell up, but he is very cool customer in the face of this horrific tragedy 😢
As a retired RN I've worked several accidents on the highway. When I had to choose...the kids came first. You have to be aware of what limited resources you have outside a hospital setting. Try to be sure everyone has an open airway then take care of the worse bleeders. It sounds callous, I know.
We use ABC. Airway, Breathing, Circulation as the primary form of triage. For example...the Patient with Respiratory Distress would go before the bleeding patient...
Lisa Desso hi the responders always treat the patients who are very quiet possibly not speaking or making any complaints about pain and virtually motionless....this indicates severe trauma hence no crying , screaming out or shouting as their levels of consciousness are very low and have no strength to communicate.....where as a patient who ( with deep respect to themselves) are able to communicate and describe their injuries indicates high levels of consciousness, but every road traffic/ highway incident are never the same and treated appropriately according to immediate evaluation!!!!,I'm in the UK and I'm certain throughout the world this is standard protocol according to the accident scene!!!!
How long will it take for people to understand that if you don't respect traffic rules, speed limit rules, and must of all respect other people's life( meaning the ones riding with you and others on the road) this kind of tragedys will really be avoidable? Wisen up people.
it is a shame that reporters have to be so unsenitive .yes these crashes are proventable get rid of the cell phones in the cars sorry but no one is that important
Your story in the description makes no sense, it says there's 2 females, one driver and one passenger and a child in the Tundra, then it says they tried to save the male driver in the Tundra. What!?
They all survived the immediate crash. Whether they continue to make it in the hospitals they were taken to remains to be seen. Critical condition usually means life threatening injuries. Does anyone know how those kids are doing?
Imagine what an officer rolling up on a multiple casualty vehicle crash has to deal with on scene. Then imagine that officer, after rendering aid and helping clear the scene, Then has to continue with the day's shift, serving warrants, dealing with domestic calls, shoplifting, disorderly conduct, armed robbery, whatnot. When you have some dealings with an officer, Try to remember and think about what kind of mess that officer just came from.
Unfrigging believable how stupid some people can be behind the wheel. Even if you don't value your own life, try to think about others, especially when you have a child in your vehicle.
Just think, this is just the sorrow of auto accidents this officer sees every week. Now add to that, homicides, assaults, child abuse, domestic violence, drownings and all the other brutal incidents officers and other first responders see. It takes a toll on you and and their families. It makes you worry when you wife, son or daughter is late getting home from school, work or from a party. I do not believe the average citizen understands the tragedy that these folks deal with. You get pulled over for doing 75 in a 55 and the officer is a bit gruff? Perhaps he just left an incident like this, you never know? People need to realize the mental stress these first responders deal with. Next time you see one having lunch or dinner, just let them know you appreciate what they do. They are not all perfect but neither are we. Just a thought. 👮♂️👮♀️👨🚒👩🚒
It's not a mistake to be traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly, especially with a child in the vehicle--it's a choice. In the small Central IL town where I used to live, there's a nice park with a 25 mph speed limit throughout. A young woman, for some reason, decided to drive over 70 mph through the park, lost control on a curve, ran into a tree killing her friend, her sister, and her toddler son in the backseat. She was the only survivor. It was found that they were huffing one of those "air in a can" cleaners. Despicable.
Reporters asked the most stupid questions. They know the police can't give names until the family is notified. I had asked officers how they stomach what they have seen. They all told me they just do their job trying to save lives. If I had seen what this officer seen, I'd have trouble talking too.

That cop looks exhausted. Hes probably been up for who knows how long. Thats probably why he said dot all our T's and cross our I's.
That might have been a true statement...wouldn't your eyes be crossed if you witnessed something like that?
It's a good thing we didn't say something like that or that give us a breathalyzer
He was probably seeing flashbacks of the bodies of the kids. :(
Talking to the first responders that i know and some the stories they tell is some of the most horrific scenes imaginable.. i can tell it weighs heavy on their minds..scenes that can not be erased they must take home with them..I could not do what they do and not be effected daily without sadness and grief..i pray God comforts them to push on and let them know they are appreciated for their service to help others in hopes they recover..you are the unsung heroes to many
Wow where is this reporter from. The most unprofessional reporter I have ever heard. She needs to be fired!! Can she find something better to say other than.... so like and I mean! Lol
I feel bad for that trooper, He saw some stuff at that accident that he didn't need to see and you can tell that its bothering him badly. I feel for the families that were involved in this, accident like this didn't need to happen.
r.i.p my loves will see u in heaven later on rest easy remember all we love u will watch over ur 3 baby's rest in Paradise Jesus and Ines Moreno❤❤
Aww you're family. I'm so sorry for your loss! May God give you strength to carry on!
Perla Rodriguez sorry for your loss
Linda Cap You say your an atheist yet you will see them again on the other side???? Hmmm. Sounds like your a bit confused. Whatever.
Lind Cap, you are one confused individual. Your comment shows it. Get your head screwed on straight.

Wow... I'm glad you're okay now,and you made it out alive... You were fortunate...
Some of these reporters need to think before they speak
John Sweeney Most of them are no brained .
Got to feel for these guys, attending devastating scenes like this, especially when fatalities and children are involved. Thanks for your service.
FIRE that reporter,,,,,,,!!!!! how rude and insensitive!!! " the dead" who uses words like that,
1gerger1 deceased, dead means the exact same thing SMH. People bitch just to hear themselves it seams
1gerger1 I agree! And the part where she said "how long are you going to be? There are cars back up." Like really??
I guarantee you if I heard her talking about my husband when he passed she would be a DEAD bitch
man,that reporter seemed kinda cold.
They have to stay emotionally distanced or they wouldn't BE a reporter. If she fell apart, you'd say she was being an hysterial female (sigh).
Stupid AF! Can you tell us where they were going?? Yeah, hold on and I'll go ask em'. How stupid of a question is that?? 🤦🏻♀️🙄
The officer interviewed has been in a lot of your videos. God bless him dealing with so much carnage for a living. Seems like a great guy.
Accidents are bad enough, but I hate it when children are involved.
I sometimes hate reporters. That kind of crap is uncalled for.
This brother officer has guts of steel. I pray the LORD gives him peace in his heart.
6:14 dispatch says there is a MVA, Head on collision with 18 wheeler....damn...
I heard that too! Was hoping Scott would go to that scene!
Sounds like all the lady reporter wanted was the specifics on how bad these people were burned and killed. Didn't care about nothing else just the "gore" so to speak. Sorry for the use of the word gore. I feel bad for the family.
This man is sick and tired of seeing avoidable death and destruction. Please give this man a break. Slow down and don't drink and drive.
The officer does a great job answering the most stupid questions from news media who are so stupid in some of their questions, so insensitive ....journalism is a lost art, these freelancers sound so immature and uneducated.
The officer giving the update is very respectful and yes I have seen him in quite a few videos but he is always respectful
The policeman was very professional, the interviewer not quite so much.
I really like this trooper. Erik Burse
yea I agree there shouldn't be any questions asked at this time from the media
@@philz7462 we all are thanking God you're not a cop, or any other first responder. You have nothing but hatred in you
This Officer did two tours in Iran and has seen it all...nothing phases him.
I like the Officer alot , you can tell he was good with his words to that rude news reporter , man she was one cold hearted Karen ...
Don't ever buy a Tundra. Beer can.
I really like this officer. You can see the pain from the situation
Reporters want the facts but they arrive too soon . The EMT and fire guys are still scraping people and their vehicles off the road. PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING.
Speed, stupidity and carelessness, a deadly combination!
Hope the kids made it. That's horrible that two people burnt up. I can't even imagine going through something like this. I feel so so so sorry for the family and friends of those who died. May they rest in peace
the driver of the tundra caused the crash. it's sad, there was two females and a small child the tundra and a family with 3 kids in the Tahoe. all the children survived.
They saved 4 kids but all the adults/parents died, so now. there's 4 more kuds with no parents!
Sad AF! 😭💔🙏🏻🕊💯
BEST STATE POLICE OFFICER EVER. He explains it like it is. GREAT JOB SIR!!!!!. He's in a lot of these Texas accidents.
Look how well the American made Tahoe held up compared to the Tin Can Toyota.
Toyotas, with the exception of Landcruiser and Lexus LX570, are manufactured in the US of A
@@Padoinky ...Toyota mandated the materials, the thickness of metals, the amount of plastic now used, instead of steel/metal. That is how the gas mileage improves... not because of more efficient engines. Notice how many rollovers and how often the vehicle stops on its top.
@@robertwalker5521 ford has this great aluminum technology on their f150s and expeditions that got them rated by nhtsa and iihs excellent in all test. Those vehicles are very safe, and efficient
@@armando9293 they'll fold up like a freaking soda can, I guarantee...
The Tahoe may have held up better, but the two adults in it still died, and the kids are still critical. They may or may not survive. I wouldn't call that holding up so well.
This girl interviewing is irratating with her line of questions. She knows they cant answer her questions ...ugh!!!
Even if they knew the identification of the victims, they will not release them before all families have been notified.
Reporter "Talk to me how horrific it is?" What the F&%$. How freekin' insensitive. Go away lady......
Can you tell us where they were going? How tf am I suppose to know that THEY ARE DEAD!!! Dam that lady is stupid. 🤦🏻♀️
THIS DPS OFFICER IS A GOOD MAN. GIVES. INFORMATION IF HE CAN.🙏
How sad that one driver's stupidity caused 4 deaths and left children without parents. I wonder how the children are doing today, I hope none of them died from their injuries.
The stupidity of reporters questions amazes me.
I love this officer, he does the badge proud!!!!
My wife said God bless you all that have to go to the accident sites.
Who could ask questions with no empathy from the heart, there human just like you Mrs reporter lady!
That Tahoe held up pretty good in comparison to the tundra, may the people who were involved in the accident Rest In Peace
Jay Carden Sure, because you know the exact Dynamics of the crash, let me guess, pitbull?
Buford Blu no pit bull
Pretty ignorant and stupid thing to say since they died.
Toyota cuts a lot of corners so no big surprise there!
Toyota was the one speeding and and hit the Tahoe, so maybe that's why it got it worst. 🤷🏻♀️
I only hope people watching improve their driving habits
Omg! Thank God for the fire fighters and EMTs!
Yes, very good law enforcement officer, very compassionate.
This lady needs to be stopped with her stupid questions.
I can’t stand the reporter, like she’s not listening to what he has to say, he’s saying something and she’s repeating the same thing without listening to him
She’s super insensitive with asking stupid dumb questions, she needs another job
That Deputy is great at answering questions. I would want to tell that reporter to shut the hell up, but he is very cool customer in the face of this horrific tragedy 😢
With multiple victims, how do the first responders determine which patient they help first? I couldn't do it! #Heroes
As a retired RN I've worked several accidents on the highway. When I had to choose...the kids came first. You have to be aware of what limited resources you have outside a hospital setting. Try to be sure everyone has an open airway then take care of the worse bleeders. It sounds callous, I know.
It's called "triage" - a quick assessment of all tells you which ones are first priority, and so on.
"Talk to me how horrific it is." Really? I sincerely hope that the so-called reporter went back to reporting school.
And don't forget this one....Can you tell us where they were going?? 🤦🏻♀️
Your story in the description makes no sense, it says there's 2 females, one driver and one passenger and a child in the Tundra, then it says they tried to save the male driver in the Tundra. What!?
Thank GOD the children lived! This is beyond unbelievable!
Cop was very professional especially with the media's stupid questions
That's why most of them unfortunately become alcoholics and divorced. The PTSD is real. 😟💯
Does it annoy anyone else when people begin a sentence with 'I mean...'?
Yes.its like a thing now.obviously if there saying it they mean it.so annoying
Most young people in this country are functionally illiterate many start sentences with I mean and then the word like several times in one sentence.
I hope all the children are doing fine and have loving homes with family.
That state trooper has seen a lot of death. Jeez. I couldn’t imagine having that job.
How do you cross the center line and hit head on when 1 is going South East and the other going North East??
trreb1 probably passing cars in a hurry
trreb1 by talking on ur cell phone while driving !!
That woman disgusts me asking how horrific is it. Really?
I want to slap that reporter! 🤬 I mean… they’re deceased, he didn’t have a chance to ask them where they were going!
IKR. What a stupid azz question. 🤦🏻♀️
Despicable.
Can you tell me why the sky is blue?
😂😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️
Reporters asked the most stupid questions. They know the police can't give names until the family is notified. I had asked officers how they stomach what they have seen. They all told me they just do their job trying to save lives. If I had seen what this officer seen, I'd have trouble talking too.
