      Hi there Johnathan, thanks for getting in touch. The robot has a 360-degree vision system, using a fisheye lens which allows the robot to have a panoramic view of the home and accurately interpret its surroundings.

      The Dyson 360 Vis Nav™ robot has a 360° vision system which remembers where it’s been and sees where to clean. 26 sensors ensure the robot knows its way, follows walls and avoids obstacles. The 26 sensors and unique Dyson SLAM technology help the robot map and learn different rooms in a home.
      Additionally, our robot's camera can navigate in low-light, thanks to its LED light ring, and has a full 360° field of view. The robot senses low light areas using the camera and uses its ring of LED lights to selectively illuminate those areas, helping it to navigate.

      Emptying stations use bags which need to be replaced. These can also be bad for the environment and add maintenance costs. Our robot has zero maintenance costs over its lifetime. Emptying stations can also limit dock placement options. Instead of using a quick and flawed solution, the MyDyson™ app will tell owners when the robot’s bin is full, and they can empty it when needed. The one-touch ejection mechanism drives dust and debris deep into the bin in one action, ensuring hygienic and easy bin emptying.

      The classic "lidar" in the robot vacuum cleaner is just a basic 2D laser pointer, not an actual LIDAR. It is good with measuring the distance between walls, but ultimately does a subpar job in everything else, like picking up small objects, navigating around chairs with thin legs, dark objects, mirrors, etc. That's why you have to rely on front bumpers and extra cameras with AI object detection to alleviate all these issues.
      That being said, Dyson's approach with ToF cameras (which basically act as close range "lidars") on either side of the brush looks interesting. I'd probably wait for the actual tests to see how it performs in real life.

      The Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact TP7A is not compatible with the My Dyson app. You can use the included remote to control the machine.

    Why always navigate via camera... there are better ways.

    • @dyson
      @dyson  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Dyson 360 Vis Nav™ robot has a 360° vision system which remembers where it’s been and sees where to clean. 26 sensors ensure the robot knows its way, follows walls and avoids obstacles. Unlike other robot camera solutions, Dyson’s camera can navigate in low-light, thanks to its LED light ring which selectively illuminates darker areas. Using a 360° vision system allows the robot to not lose sight of any features as it turns and navigates around a room.
