Your heart don’t stand a chance is one of my favorites. Here’s the thing: AP is a vibe and groove. Many joked that he is a genre of his own. Bruno knew what he was getting in this collaboration and said so: Andy’s natural feel for vibe and his drumming literally inspired Bruno so much in the studio and opened up new creative juices. He wasn’t doing Andy a favor. He saw that together they could create incredible music. And they DID!

Bruno kinda did do him a favor, in the best way. I was always a Bruno fan from the beginning, and had only heard Andy's last hit. Once I saw them together I started digging in on his talent. Now I love Andy too and I'm sure I am not the only Bruno's fan that do. I've watched all of their interviews and now I know his personality, I love it. Check out Andy's numbers, there are going up. I believe these two brothers actually love each other like they were brothers. It's great to see because they are fire together. They said in 50 years they'll be somewhere sitting on a porch just chillin.

@@dabrat7307 Agree, that’s fair. Bruno is definitely more commercially successful and glad to know that some of his fans are getting into .Paak. I was more thinking musically speaking that Bruno recognized that he had a musical partner with whom he can make great music and have fun doing so. He’s collaborated with lots of people and so has Andy-they both recognized that the have something special together. And thus, Silk Sonic was born.

Damn .Paack is so damn smooth. He oozes charisma., talent, authenticity and a groo e an d vibe like no other. He's a born entertainer and a drumming mofo. Luv him. Luv his music. Luv his personality and that megawatt smile. The world is witnessing a star being born. Make no mistake. There is nothing commercial about Anderson. He's legit.

I've always been a huge Bruno fan and when he had announced his Collab with Anderson, I had no idea who he was back then. This was the first video I saw of his and my jaw dropped! I mean, you saying I've been sleeping on this guy! Phenomenal performance and talent! I then heard all his songs and in total honesty, all his albums are classics! Ventura, Malibu, Oxnard and his album with NxWorries, all are too good! I would strongly recommend you listen to all his albums
Also lockdown and Bubblin', two singles he won grammies for and Jewelz (beats by Timbaland)
Finally, his Grubhub performance is must! He is some serious talent

AP reminds me so much of Curtis Mayfield's early day back when his group was called the IMPRESSIONS!! I was there when the song "GYPSY WOMAN" was a hit in 1961. Take a listen so you know whaat I'm talking about!! AP has more pain in his voice but they are similar! Also AP made reference in one of his interviews how he vibes off of Roy Ayers! His trumpeter played at the concert on May 28, 2022 (I was there) player "EVERYBODY LOVES THE SUNSHINE". I lost my mind because Roy Ayers is early FUNK, vibraphone player in 1976 - I was there once again when he appeared on SOUL TRAIN..
I am so happy at age 75 to hear this type of music once again!! thank you Silk Sonic and Bootsy Collins blowing the sounds of the past

Hey Toney, this is one of the most viewed of the the Tiny Desk series. You should check out the Grub hub concert, it’s brilliant also. Glad to see your still buzzing from Vegas. I think Silk Sonic fast tracked Anderson where he was going anyway, he’s so talented. T.Nava (Ron Avant) his keyboard player so good, bass player Kelsey Gonzales and Jose Rios guitarist are constantly floating between Jazz and blues and R&B influences. Just love it. This young man is so gifted and I’m glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves. I am a fan of talented musicians, and he is clearly one of the best. You've never seen this Godliness before?! Okay Mr Toney, you better start doing some Anderson .Paak homework immediately!
Some song recs for you: Milk N Honey, Might Be, Scared Money, Realla, all of the Malibu album cover to cover (it's a masterpiece), 6 Summers, Trippy, Winners Circle, King James, Bubblin - the list is endless. Lockdown is a very powerful song Anderson wrote about the Black Lives Matter movement - listen to the video version of the equally stirring Jay Rock verse.
Anderson is such a special artist - it's taken a while but finally his garden is blooming with flowers. Dr Dre heard one song - Suede, the last song in this set - and that was all it took to know he had a juggernaut talent standing before him.
Also props to the Free Nationals - an incredible band with an array of talent. They have their own album out - that's definitely worth a listen as well.

Since #SilkSonic has that old skool vibe with a new skool twist think going on, they need to put their spin on The Ohio Players "I want to be Free". Toney so glad that you’re doing reaction(your) to Andy’s tiny desk concert. I’m a big fan of the tiny desk series cause it allows the talents to show thru not what’s heard thru mixing. Please check out all of Andy’s albums. They fusion of all genre’s of music - Andy sticks them all. Bruno knew what magic could happen with Andy.

I love your reaction to this video, very enjoyable. I too was introduced to Anderson .Paak thru Bruno Mars and am completely SOLD! As I've fallen down a rabbit hole of Anderson .Paak videos I came across some of his super early stuff, when he was Breezy Lovejoy. There's a video of him singing P.Y.P with Jose Rios playing guitar. It is phenomenal! His voice was still young and possibly un-touched by 'the weeds.' He's hitting high notes and everything. Check it out.

I will help. Because I am an absolute AP fan and Silk Sonic fan, too. So, I’ve bookmarked ALL of AP’s videos on TH-cam and rarely does he disappoint. You were right with the Nate Dog comparison. He has collaborated with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar (Tints), the Game, Justin Timberlake, Doja Cat, Mark Ronson, YBN Cordae, MacMiller, Smokey Robinson, Eninem, Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Bilge, Jazmin Sullivan, Rick Ross, Andre 3000, BJ the Chicago Kid for FIFA and now Chris Brown. Dr. Dre put him on the Compton album after he heard Suede (the last song) and then immediately signed him to Aftermath and Dr. Dre has only signed Eninem, Kendrick Lamar, and Anderson .Paak that tells you the regard he has for Anderson’s talent. And just today, of course he drummed with BTS. Now if he helps BTS to develop their grown up sound: adding funk and gospel and jazz. Explosion!

One of your colleagues just said. Bruno just started getting more notoriety because of being with Anderson. I’ve heard Anderson say more times than I can count his collaboration with Bruno is the best cheat card he could have. I digress.. this statement was another example of how I got with our Wolfpack !!!
I absolutely love the way Anderson handles those sticks🥁🥁he’s real slick with all his moves just sitting, vibing and loving it same as we do 💯🔥🔥LOVE his adlibs a lot. He frequently say … yes lawd Anderson is rising with the collab but Anderson is definitely carrying his Own heat ⚡️⚡️⚡️😴🌪🌪🌪his songs has out of the world lyrics….. you have to think and digest 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌟☄️

I just did my research, Anderson had won four Grammy's before the creation of Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. So, Anderson brought his own credits to the table when he and Bruno created, along with others, this DYNAMIC album. I think you talked about if Silk Sonic didn't win a Grammy for Album of the Year, you would feel some kind of way about it. Well all these years later, I still feel some kind of way about the late Marvin Gaye's album, "What's Going On" not winning the Grammy for Album of the Year. I can still remember whose album won and the title of that album. Carol King's "Tapestry" There was one single, back when they had 45's, that I had purchased. I was still in high school, and me and my friends couldn't wait for Marvin Gaye's album to come out, and when it did, I was at the record store like white on rice. In some respects that album was ahead of its time as it related to the environment, but it was so relavent to what was going on with the Vietnam War, and the protests surrounding it.
