I REALLY interesting thing (for me at least) is how similar the voice for the Witness is to the voice of Indrid Cold in "The Mothman Prophecies" movie. Look up the "My Name is Indrid Cold" scene on TH-cam. It makes me wonder if the Witness will be revealed to have a very creepy smile when we see its mouth.

Now thinking about the appearance of the witness and the other faces pouring out of his head it's almost like all the thoughts/voices are literally erupting out of his head. pretty cool character design if you ask me. I think we will end up learning that the witness isn't really a single entity but more like a hive mind or has absorbed many other beings intelligence kind of like a gravemind or something...
It seems to be that Mara Sov has come face to face with the witness in the past, even fought against him. In the season of the lost during the Agers sceptor quest, Mara Says she encounter an entity that was behind the darkness. At first it was thought to be Savathun, but this expansion makes it certain it was the witness. The beginning of the "Of queens and worms" exotic quest we see Mara struggle as she talks about the witness. Implying that either the witness is in her head or she is suppressing an thought.

Rhulk also claims that the Witness has “infinite wisdom.” So I think you’re on to something. Maybe the Witness quite literally has infinite wisdom, to the point to where it can’t be contained in his mind. Hence the cloud of faces endlessly pouring out of his dome.

As tired as I am of all aliens being basically human, there's a lot to be said for using a human base to make the uncanny aspects really *pop* like with the Witness.
Never in a million years would I have thought of the witness to look like... This. All the other aliens in Destiny have some sort of, cohesive form. Even the Cabal who are drastically different than humans they, still feel weirdly familiar. Even looking at Savathun or Oryx didn't make me feel like something was wrong. But the Witness just feels like there is something really wrong with them... Just, WHAT are they?
One of the cool things I recently learned is that the vex are considered the original "final shape". The only reason that changed is due to the introduction of the paracausal abilities of the light and dark (i.e. classes). If there were no guardians and disciples, the vex would eventually become the final shape (i.e. ultimate lifeform)
the witness cutscene now gives me PTSD knowing that room he's in is the Macrocosm/Planetarium from the Root of Nightmares raid because every time I enter that room its with a LFG that has no idea what they're doing and where you get to see people who have commitment issues.

I consider that dialogue to be The Witness speaking through our Ghost, as well as then any other time they have done that beginning in Shadowkeep. Rhulk says that the Witness offers us opportunities and that we squander them. Was Europa an opportunity? Did we (Light + Darkness wielding Risen) suppressing House Dark (Darkness wielding Eliksni) contribute to the Final Shape?
That room you’re talking about, I had my own theory about it. Basically the members of the light looking upon a Pyramid. The normal people represent the Guardians, the Eliksni represent Mithrax and his House of Light, the Cabal represent Caitl and her fleet, and lastly the Hive represent Savathûn and her lucent Hive. We’ll all join up eventually to fight off the Darkness. I don’t remember any dialogue, just the statues. Anyways just my theory.

So the reason that the Eliksnee, former lightbearers, are now the Fallen after the Traveller ditched them, the reason its come all the way to the Sol system, the reason its chosen to impact the human race. I think that the Traveller probably infects these races with immortality at all just so it has something to protect itself with. Making us the last line of defense for the big ping pong ball in the sky

Honestly, it would make sense if Destiny 2 ends with a final battle between humanity and the Light and/or Darkness, because of how the Traveler has treated them (humanity) and their enemies, and the same goes for how the Darkness treats them and their enemies too. This would be something like the television series “The Seven Deadly Sins” goes. It ends with the darkness/original enemy being defeated, and the characters realize their ally who aided them in destroying the great evil, is also just as cruel, treating them as pawns. To me, it sounds as though the possibly future is that the Traveler and Darkness/the Witness are the like the Supreme Deity and Demon King, only wanting to destroy the other without any care in the world about their own allies they created or have aided.
There's another perspective. The Witness isn't the one speaking, but there's another entity speaking to it. We're just watching from one perspective! This is Destiny after all. Nothing is what it seems sometimes.

I dont care what anyone says, The Witness’s design fuckin slaps. Theres the obvious classic grey alien inspiration sure, but its also tall and slender. Pretty sure its taller than Rhulk and that dude was massive. Drapped almost completely in what is obviously pyramid material and radiating that orange darkness energy. Its hands leave after-images that warp space hammering home just how much raw power this entity has flowing through it. The face is where all the interesting stuff is. The entire bottom half of its face is covered by the robe, so its voice(s) become almost completely dissociated from it. Im convinced that its voice(s) will sounds just as omnipresent when we’re in the same room as thing, as if its coming from all around us rather than the being itself. While we’re on the voice(s), the fact that its this overlapping chorus of multiple, equally inhuman sounding voices really gets the point across that this thing has barely any identity of its own, its merely a humble servant spreading the good word of the darkness. Back to the face, the fact that it looks so human and yet not just makes it so unnerving. Looking at how the concept art progressed to its clear the designer intentionally moved away from an outright evil looking, menacing design, to this otherworldly design that evokes pure mystery and confusion. The human like face, the wide, yet not completely blacked out eyes, nothing about the witness’s face is designed to read as being evil or scary, because the witness doesnt consider itself to be bound by such petty things as good and evil. It simply does what it believes is the natural course of reality. Those eyes especially ive heard a lot of complaining about but the fact that theyre so non-threatening just makes it MORE threatening. We’re expecting a menacing gaze from this embodiment of darkness but what we get are these completely neutral, almost innocent looking eyes that stare straight into your soul. Its a stare that says “Admit it. The darkness isnt so bad after all. You KNOW you want to join us.” Its an almost loving gaze, which is why no wonder Rhulk basically fell in love with the Witness. Its not the gaze of a friend, or an enemy, but of Salvation. Theres also the wierd almost browlike forehead marking (which, in the concept art, was originally an inverted triangle) that flows into the swirling smokecloud of faces emanating from its head, once again invoking the idea, alongside the voices and use of the royal we, that the Witness is some kind of collective of minds, perhaps merely a conduit for the pyramids or something. I dunno, the design really works for me.
Same I don't care what anyone says, The Witness reveal 100% looks like a Pixar-esque character and not a Destiny villain. Keep expecting the Witness to blink eyes revealing long eyelashes and break into song and dance haha
The voice for the Witness sounds really similar to Indrid Cold from the movie "The Mothman Prophecies". Granted, the concept of an alien entity sounding like multiple people talking at the same time isn't unique, but I do wonder if the Witness will be revealed to have a creepy smile when we see the lower half of his face.
Supposedly a POISON subclass is in the works and in THE FINAL SHAPE that orange substance or aura always associated around the darkness is the final subclass.
So the traveler tried to right its wrong by giving the light it couldn't a long time ago. Before the hive were hive they were just good people trying to survive
Actually, the big watery eyes, the almond-shaped eyeholes, big ol bald head and funky dress makes me think of ancient Sumerian depictions of humans. Also though, his skin (if it is not made from that weird mist?) is so smooth he would fit in The Clone Wars artstyle.
I'm not super happy about Bungie ripping off one of the most famous paintings in history at 1:20 for no clear reason. There's 'meaningful reference' and then there's 'we stole it cuz it looked cool'. Savathun is in a Madonna and Child pose ffs, anyone who knows art history will tell you that's DEEPLY out of place in Bocklin's painting.

Its a stare that says “Admit it. The darkness isnt so bad after all. You KNOW you want to join us.” Its an almost loving gaze, which is why no wonder Rhulk basically fell in love with the Witness. Its not the gaze of a friend, or an enemy, but of Salvation. Theres also the wierd almost browlike forehead marking (which, in the concept art, was originally an inverted triangle) that flows into the swirling smokecloud of faces emanating from its head, once again invoking the idea, alongside the voices and use of the royal we, that the Witness is some kind of collective of minds, perhaps merely a conduit for the pyramids or something. I dunno, the design really works for me.
Same I don't care what anyone says, The Witness reveal 100% looks like a Pixar-esque character and not a Destiny villain. Keep expecting the Witness to blink eyes revealing long eyelashes and break into song and dance haha
The voice for the Witness sounds really similar to Indrid Cold from the movie "The Mothman Prophecies". Granted, the concept of an alien entity sounding like multiple people talking at the same time isn't unique, but I do wonder if the Witness will be revealed to have a creepy smile when we see the lower half of his face.

Actually, the big watery eyes, the almond-shaped eyeholes, big ol bald head and funky dress makes me think of ancient Sumerian depictions of humans. Also though, his skin (if it is not made from that weird mist?) is so smooth he would fit in The Clone Wars artstyle.
