    Speaking as the current owner of two 4k UST projectors and as one with prior experience with 1080P UST projectors, I must join the chorus in pointing out that an ALR or CLR screen really needs to be included in any prospective owner's budget. The improvement in overall image quality and black level in particular can't be overstated when moving from a conventional 1.0-1.1 gain white screen intended to be used with long throw projectors to a .6 gain (or so) gray ambient light rejecting screen surface. It should also be noted that the Theater is a triple laser design which eliminates color wheel induced "rainbow" effect (for those susceptible to that artifact) while introducing the possibility of the "laser speckle" artifact.

    The technology in these laser projectors is truly amazing! Gaiming on such a big screen area looks like an absolute joy! Especially when it's accompanied with those loud emersive speakers. Also a great thing about this tech, is that the lense has like a 15000 to 20000 hrs life span ,from what I understand. Which is really great!
    Thank you Sir Chris for the detailed review of an awesome piece of Tech👍👍

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes so immersive gaming at around 140-inches at 4k60 HDR is just stunning. Oh where did you find the lens expected life? I could find anything on their official website. Well not Formovies.

      @mohammadzein504 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Techtablets I saw a review of the same, projector on a channel called LRN2DIY. He mentioned that the lens life is around 20000 hrs! Which is like 7 yrs, using the projector 8 hrs per day. Amazing!

    This is generally considered the best UST projector at the moment; it's a monster, but does come at a cost, of course. Great review.

    @HenrikSwennergren ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think you´d notice a difference if you would use a ALR screen, witch have a saw-toorh pattern to stop overhead lights to interfere with the picture. Like the Elite Screens Aeon CLR Series

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh for sure the trouble is to actually get on into this room is pretty much impossible unless it was made inside my studio office. And then that wall isn't ideal for other projectors which is part of the reason I've kept it empty and for a white wall for other video use. Ideally, I need a new room dedicated to being a projector room :)

  • @zodiacfml
    @zodiacfml ปีที่แล้ว +4

    would be nice if these Laser projectors finally match the price of large OLED displays and 120Hz. Display size doesn't matter much as it is a matter of distance from the screen but projectors are portable, easy to setup, far less risk of damage unlike a huge glass/panel.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s why I think most go for them. Easier to move and set up. A large TV is very heavy

  • @anthonycukier1807
    @anthonycukier1807 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    You're not doing it justice by turning on the ambiant light without a CLR screen, obviously the image quality will get washed out when you turn the lights on😂

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Of course but it’s just to show what it would be like if you decided to use it during the day and you can’t block off all the light

    • @anthonycukier1807
      @anthonycukier1807 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Techtablets I respectfully disagree, it's not at all what to expect while watching it in the day, because once you're investing in such a pricey piece of hardware, you would be doing yourself a disservice not implementing a CLR screen which could reduce up to 90% of ambient light, it should be at least mentioned in my opinion. Besides that, great review 👍🏽

    The first Ust projector with Dolby Vision/ Atmos is the Xiaomi Cinema 2, the second one is Fengmi T1, and Theater is the 3rd. I dont know why Formovie. I dont know for what reason the formovie says that the Theater is the first.

    Great review! But I have three questions - 1. How does the picture look when watching live sports? (e.g. rugby... lets' say the All Blacks v Anyone else...) Any ugly motion blur? 2. I have a Marantz amp powering a 5.1 setup with a very big Klipsich centre speaker which would look out of place if I were to switch to a short throw projector - can this unit be configured to be the centre speaker? If not do you have any other suggestions? 3. Is the Chromecast functionality geographically restricted? A while ago I took my Chromecast from NZ to Aussie and it wouldn't work.. 😞 Cheers!

      They certainly are impressive and I’m really enjoying this one. The review took much longer than I planned as I edited up enjoying it so much watching content and gaming even was very good for a projector.

    No one seems to be mentioning that this projector is NOT true 4K
    It uses pixel shifting to imitate 4k.

      This is what I assumed was the case esp when he had all those moments of saying nothing is registering higher than 1080. My other question about this projector is, is it triple laser or just a single.

      because it very very close to native 4k
      to tje eye from normal view sitting is extremely difficult to tell it's very sharp
      with a fraction of the native UST 4k price

    Were you using a screen ?

    • @Techtablets

      No, at this time I had a matte white wall. But I've since invested in a $2300 120" ALR screen which I use in all my latest projector reviews.

      The price always changes. It will only price correct if the video is a week old.

    $3,499 USD. Hmmmmm. Not quite low enough price to convert me from the conventional 75"/85" TV experience.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess its more for people that don’t want the TV taking up so much space or need to move it around and want to project up to 150”

      Most places you can get it for $3000. If you're setup can only fit under 100" screens it's not worth it. If you can fit 120-150" screen the immersion will make it well worth over a TV.

      Yes I see it for around 2500 euros on Amazon here, cheaper than their site but still pricey. But you get what you pay for compared to the others I've reviewed.

    • @Techtablets

      It seems that’s the case as I’m seeing it on so many of them I review. Cost cutting and at this price I don’t think it’s acceptable at all to not have native Netflix support out of the box. Hopefully a patch fixes this soon.

      That's been true of most devices, from smartphones to projectors.
