Have you been to Rome? What did we miss?
Just found your channel and now a subscriber. Headed to Rome for Christmas and marked a few of your spots. I went last year in November and tried Torronello and LOVED it - excited to try a few from this video. Congrats on the upcoming wedding! So glad YT suggested you - fun couple to watch! Happy Holidays from San Francisco
Wow thank you so much! So glad you found us! Hope you have a wonderful trip@@leogirlie33
Roma my Hometown. You missed the most important building. The Stadio Olimpico the soccer stadium From AS ROMA. Sorry for my bad englisch. Saluti da Roma 🇮🇹❤️✌🏽
Next time!!!@@rosariosalvi3302
Not sure what that other person was talking about! Going to Rome on 6/1 and I’m totally going to try your food recommendations, especially the first place Quel Che C'è Laboratorio di Cucina 🍝
Rome is the first city you must visit in Europe. before Paris and London. It ‘s the wellspring of western culture. The capital
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed it.
Awesome thanks so much for watching
Thank you so much for taking us along. Phenomenal!
Thanks so much for watching! 💗
I was in Rome in 2015. I LOVED this video. It brought back so many great memories and now I want to go back!
We are so glad to be able to bring back memories for people! This is easily one of our favorites
I spent nine days in Rome and still missed some things, but you brought back great memories!!
Thank you ☺️
Absolutely beautiful video! I will be in Rome exactly one week from today! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you! Enjoy every minute 🥰
Beautiful an incredible journey !!
Will be there in two weeks.-So exiting!!!
Yaya that is awesome, hope you have a great time!
Thank you for this! Going in May and got some great tips!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you 🙏 So much! This video was so helpful and inspiring!
Thanks so much
I always love your videos, and as always, you did not disappoint in Rome! Best of luck on your upcoming wedding! You two make a great couple!
Thank you so much Vicki!
@@JoshRachaelSunteți minunați 🤗🤗🤗
I was there last June and your video brought back so many memories! I wandered instead of making plans - so I saw all those places. Trastevere was wonderful.
Awesome so glad to bring back good memories!
Excellent video. Tons of useful information. We will be flying to Rome 3 days early before our cruise and it looks like all the spots I’d like to see can be seen in 3 days. Ive already looked into tours so it was nice to see your success with them as well. I was happy to see you were able to walk to all the sites since foreign transit had me a little apprehensive. I will also look in the Trevi area for a hotel, but will look for one with good bed reviews because I need a soft bed and fluffy pillows since I will need to nap in the afternoon in order to be up at 6:30 am for tours and out at 9pm for dinner. I appreciate all your hard work producing this video and congratulations on your marriage. You are an adorable couple, wishing you nothing but happiness and safe travels together.
Wow thank you so much for the wonderful comment! Hope you have an awesome time!!!
Hi Josh & Rachel- finally got around to watch your vlog on Rome ; it’s one busy city 😮and to think this is Oct/Nov . Can’t imagine what the summer would be like.
This past week our Italian community just laid to rest a great man , Salvatore Pullano ; who was born in Travena ,Catanzaro ( southern tip of Italy) 🇮🇹. I wrote about him on my chefbari website if you’re interested in reading about Salvatore ( friends called him Sami) . My grandfather and Mom are also from Corropoli Italy ; again southern Italy. It’s our tradition to make pasta by hand w/ so many of the dishes you tried in Rome. Alfredo and Cacio e pepe are my favourites. My Mom ( rest her soul) made a Fantastico Ravioli. Thank you for sharing Rome - Bellissimo ! Grazie Chef Bari
So sorry to hear about you friend. Rome is an amazing city, hard to get enough of it in one trip. This is currently my (Josh) favorite video we have made so far
Found your channel while prepping for our 2nd visit to Rome this coming April. I love that you guys love to eat! We've been to Tonnarello as well during our 1st trip, yummy! My favorite pasta dish through is the Amatriciana, we had to find where to get guanciale here in the US to make it since we've been craving it ever since.
I agree with the skip the line tickets for the biggies, otherwise those precious time will be spent in line. I will note the other restaurants that you've been too, so excited to be back there in 2 months!!!
Awesome, so glad to help!! Hope you have a blast, definitely recommend Colline Emiliane! It was our favorite dinner for sure
Nice video! So glad you like the night tour at Colloseum. We have the same booked for may with Get your guide and had been told sometimes they cancel because can't aquire tickets. So knowing you got in gives us hope. Cheers
Oh geez that would be nerve racking but we have had no issues with Get Your Guide
Good and nice, the footage is also very nice, congratulations to you and have a good trip home.
Thanks so much
We will be there in April for three days - this vid was PERFECT!
Thanks so much Carla, hope you have a great time, we loved it!
Fantastic
Thank you!
This was great guys, thanks so much for the informative vlog. This will come in very handy for Simone and myself on our (hopefully) upcoming Italy trip. We will certainly use some of the tips you gave us, and I've added all the food places to my TripAdvisor saved spots. We also are planning our trip in October so it was great to see what we can expect. Simone has a bunch of questions written down for you guys so we will be in touch soon for sure! Thanks again!
Awesome! Yes we would love to help! The good news is that prices seemed way better food wise to us than Las Vegas is by a mile. We (mostly Josh) also used Trip Advisor a lot to find restaurants
Great video, very complete!
Os Quel Che C'E Laboratório di Cucina still open? Google says it's closed.
Also, did you guided tour to Vatican include St. Peter Basilica?
Thank you so much. We have heard about google showing it closed unfortunately we don’t live in Rome to confirm or deny, would be a shame if it is closed now, great food at great prices
Yes the guided tour of the Vatican did include St Peters thankfully it helped to skip that massive line
This video was great. I'm going with my daughter end of May, for 3-4 days in Rome before we head to Greece. It will be my 1st visit ( been to Venice, Verona, Milan 35 yrs ago.) I hope to see the catechumes as well. Will definitely start making some restaurant reservations!
Have fun!
Josh, Rachel, lovely informative vid, thank u! Which month was this in Rome? Got it now, your tab says Oct 2023😊
No worries! It was at the very end of October. The night we went to the Colosseum was actually Halloween night
❤❤❤❤ from Brazil
thank you and welcome!
Your videos have been so helpful for my upcoming trip! Do you know the name of the church you showed at the very beginning? The one with the white ceiling. Looks gorgeous!
Thanks so much, I’m pretty sure you are talking about St. Peter’s Basilica at The Vatican, a must do in Rome! Thanks so much for watching
How did you navigate around from your hotel for sightseeing? Did you use google maps? Love your video so informative. I would like to visit some of the highlights you pointed out. Especially the marble place. Thank you.
Thanks so much! We had a blast, loved Rome!
We had a map that we carried the first day or two but we did use our phones either google maps or Apple Maps to get around the majority of the time. It was really easy
Just found you, thanks for the tips, we will be there in July. Cheers , new subscribers... Chris and Jim!
Thanks for the sub!
In 2005, my sister and a couple of her friends and I took a two week Mediterranean cruise and we had spent two days in Rome. The whole trip was amazing I was blown away and it’s always in my mind every day at some point, I will return there, but not right now. My favorite part of that trip was when we went to Barcelona and Venice and of course Monte Carlo.
Oh wow! That’s awesome, very similar to what we did this year it seems. We did Athens to. Venice in August then Barcelona to Rome in October. Europe is so amazing, can’t wait to go back but probably gonna be a year or two
Ohhhhh. Great tour of Rome!!!! Back in the 70's my parents took me to Rome. We were able to climb up the stairs to the top of the Dome and view the spectacular city. Is this area available for tourists now?
Thank you, yes you can still go to the top but the line was very long and we didn’t have a ton of time to wait unfortunately. We were so shocked by how busy everything was during off season
@@JoshRachael thank you! Thoroughly enjoyed Rome through your experiences. Going to watch your Venice visit. Merry Christmas!!
Going for the first time next year and leaving from there on a Med cruise. That's how I found you all. I love your videos, thanks so much for sharing your experiences!! -another Rachael 😊
Thank you so much and you even spell it right as well 😉 🥰
Hello from Oregon! Great video! Would you recommend the hotel you stayed at?
Hi welcome to the channel. The area was great, Trevi Fountain or Pantheon area would be the best areas in our opinion. The price was awesome, got it in Booking.com 6+ months out so hard to beat. The room was definitely not great but truly no major problems. Bed was hard and pillows were not good.
I would say check on a travel website for the price range you want around Trevi and Pantheon and roll with it.
I guess this is the time to travel. I just got back from over there Rome was definitely the best out of all of Italy for sure
Yes Rome was amazing, we were shocked by the size of the crowds for this time of year, how about you? We were there October 30-November 2nd
Think you covered alot in 3 days!Castle san angelo is worth a visit. Many of the churches have amazing art work and are free.Even those that look very humble may have works by Michaelangelo and Caravaggio. Those old ruins you spotted where theres the cat sanctuary are very important as thats where Julius Caesar was murdered!
Wow thank you so much Mandy - that is crazy we didn't realize that is where Julius Caesar was murdered - thank you so much for sharing!
Wonderful video of Rome. Really enjoyed it. Thank you 😊
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Food looked great, guys! Good to know the city is very walkable. Rome is on our list!
Thanks a lot Bill and Lisa! We definitely could have saved some steps along the way but wandering thru neighborhoods is some of our favorite experiences, well that and all the food 😂
did you prebook the Pantheon or buy at the door? I heard the latter is better but not sure (e.g. compared to the Vatican which is very much, buy in advance)
Pantheon we bought at the door, Vatican and Colosseum we prebooked thru GetYourGuide
"Rome as a walkable city"
Some cities around the world by surface area:
6.340 km² Shanghai
2.194 km² Tokio
1.722 km² Houston
1.572 km² London
1.299 km² Los Angeles
** 1.285 km² Rome
783,8 km² New York
604,3 km² Madrid
370,1 km² Detroit
232,1 km² Boston
181,8 km² Milan
117,3 km² Naples
Be aware people! Historical City Center of Rome is very walkable ... 😬😅
On the other hand Rome is the largest municipality in Italy and the European Union.
We felt it was quite easy to walk and that’s why we said it, thank you for the information. We even doubled up walking a few times. It is doable
Good VDO if you can tell me what is tour company name you use I’m go in Italy in October gonna be first time I be very thankful if you can tell me Thanks
Thank you! We actually set up everything on our own. The tour of Venetian and Colosseum both were booked from a website called GetYourGuide.com which we also used in Venice. We had a great experience using them.
Hey guys!!! Big fan of the channel. any quick tips first time going to Rome?? Going to take the wife early next year.. Thank you!!!
Quickest tip - book a guided tour! We really tried to highlight our key takeaways at the end 🙃
And enjoy Rome to its fullest!
@@JoshRachael Thank you
I LOVE the “More You Know” segment!! Thats pasta is my love language!! How did you eat the fried artichoke? Did you eat the whole thing?! Do you guys ever know how to travel!! Another GREATTT video - thank you!!!
😂 the fried artichoke we ate all of it! Thank you!!!
Ohhh, okay, If I ever see it on a menu someplace, I'm going to order it!!! :):)@@JoshRachael
Fantastic video
Thanks! 😃
Before I went to Rome, the only pasta I was familiar with was my mom's overcooked pasta and Chef Boyardee's, lol. The first restaurant we went to the host recommended Carbonara, finishing with a glass of limoncello on the house. I've been hooked ever since. Unfortunately, many of the Italian restaurants here in the states destroy the classic dish by adding pea, cream, and broth. Your best bet is to make it yourself: guanciale, cheese, pepper, eggs, pasta water, that's it.
💯
Can you tell us how you went about purchasing your tickets to the museums?
We did both our Vatican Tour and Coliseum Tour with GetYourGuide.com
We did the same with our trip to Venice, and in Barcelona - really good experiences
OMG guy’s ! Never thought I’d like Rome . Well now that’s going on the bucket list for sure . How long did you guys stay in Europe ? How many places ? What was the best place ? Thanks again for all the help !
Thanks so much Kyle! This trip was about 2 weeks, 2 nights in Barcelona, 7 night cruise that hit Cannes, Marsaille, Genova, Livorno, Florence, and our favorite Cinque Terre then 3 nights in Rome was the plan as the video went but actually got stuck do to travel cancellations but we stopped filming once our flight got cancelled since we were a bit stressed out.
When you combine it with the the August cruise that was from Athens to Venice we ended up spending a month in Europe 🤯 what a crazy few months it has been. Our favorite port on that cruise was Kotor Montenegro
We truly loved all the major cities that we got to spend 2+ nights in - Athens, Venice, Barcelona, and Rome
Awesome travel vlog! Thank you so much for showing the prices, it was very helpful! A lot of the times you see travel vlogs but you don’t know the prices but thankfully you all showed the prices!!!
Glad it was helpful, we figure we appreciate it when other people do so we try our best
I’m curious as to why no filming of the streets of Trastevere??
Too eager to eat? Haha not sure honestly, I think timing was the only tough part for us, we had a crazy day and wanted to get a nap in since both of our tours were the same day 12 hours apart so it was an early morning and late night
Hi, what month was this?
This was right at the end of October into November.
What time of year were you in Rome ?
We were in Rome over Halloween
what time of year??
We were there the end of October/first part of November.
I'm visiting Rome from Vancouver in April 2024. Can you really just walk into a church like that?
Absolutely! The only ones we couldn’t was St Peters at the Vatican and the Pantheon, all other ones we just walked right in
I enjoyed your video. You guys looked like you had a great time. I've been learning Italian since Covid started and want to visit Italy with my husband for several days after I feel fluent enough to understand them speaking. Would you mind clarifying something for me? The tour tickets that you mentioned, is that per person, or total for the both of you? I'm taking notes of general costs of things to plan ahead for the future. Grazie mille!
Awesome hope you have an amazing time. Which tickets specifically are you wondering about and I can tell ya
@@JoshRachael Your 8am Vatican/Basilica tour & the nighttime Colosseum tour?
Our Vatican Tour was $206 total for the two of us
The Colosseum Night Tour was $213.76 total for both of us
Hope that helps
In the Colosseum, don't get a tour guide - just walk around on your own. There are so many tours going on, that you can't help but overhear all the things they are talking about. Also, Rick Steves Italy travel book has a great self-guided walking tour of the Roman forums. Super easy and informative!
Nice! How long did you have to wait to get in though?
@@JoshRachael it's been a few years since I've been there - I went in early March on a weekday and waited about 30-45 minutes to get inside the Colosseum. I don't remember there being any lines to get into the Forum area.
Thanks!
If you were to pick one of the lunch spots, which would you choose? Will be in Rome in three weeks.
Definitely recommend heading over to the Trestevere area and check out a few spots!
Wow, what an amazing 3 days! 😁😁
Yes it was!
There is no entrance fee at the Pantheon (you showed a 5 euro entrance fee). It is a Catholic Church, and all churches allow free entrance.
Well when we went they charged. I think it may have changed since the last time you went unfortunately.
When searched to double check I got this:
"Starting from 3 July 2023, it is mandatory to have an entrance ticket to access the Pantheon. The cost of the ticket is 5 euros . It remains free for residents of the city of Rome."
First lunch. I like it
We gotta eat 🤣
Oh my - I wanna go back for all that pasta! 🍝
Yes!
I gained weight Just watching your video!!!
Rome Is very romantic city ...
And the food... uffhhh... AMAZING!!!
Still working to get rid of it all 😂 thanks so much!
Guy's its Pasta not Noodles lol, noodles are in soup and Asian dishes and the little thing your ringing on the bike is a bell not a horn, the vid was fun though, try staying In Trastevere next time also It's bomb ; )
noted but where we have grown up these are used interchangeably like soda and pop
The best musem in Rome is: Museo Nazionale Romano.
Thank you
24:20 I didn't understand one thing, why pizza with pepperoni? in Italian they are peppers and I only see them as salami.
We just love pepperoni and it was much more flavorful when we had it
41.38 che prezzi per un piatto di pasta, ok la qualità ma il costo a me sembra assurdo
Thank you, we felt it was decent compared to US prices
@@JoshRachael ok ma non per quelli italiani 🤣🤣
great video and i guess you are married by now congrats
Thank you Tracy! Yes we got married November 15th!
Do they have Mc Donald , Burger King , Pizza Hut & KFC in Roma?!
I believe so, but we did not eat there
Not quite sure why you refer to the pasta as noodles, they are definitely not noodles but pasta. All different kinds as I am sure you saw. Other than that a nice video.
👌🏽
Quel che c'e .... Restaurant is closed.
Really? Temporary or permanently? Any idea what happened?
@@JoshRachael you can see that on Google. Seems to be temporary, not forever. The owner makes a coment there.
Greetings from Vienna, Austria
Ulli
hope everything is ok
Pasta is not noodle 😂
Congratulations 🎉
Not really any helpful travel advice.
Post your link we will judge which is better
Piazza Navona, non piazza Navana !
