I may have found you because of Adrian, but i stayed because of You! You make fantastic content and you're an awesome lass, that can stand all alone and you should be proud 😊
Great video Karen! So honest and articulate. You are definitely a wonderful ambassador for women in farming in Ireland. Wishing you health and happiness for 2024. Keep smiling!
Hi Karen, I stumbled on your TH-cam channel and subscribed straight away. Your only have a small farm in Ireland but I was taken by your story of moving home to help your injured dad on your grandfathers land. You have taken on the job with a great passion and have stuck with the families old ways of raising cattle and have embarked on improving the pastures and equipment which is paying dividends. I know your dad and grandmother would be very proud of your efforts working so hard by yourself. Thanks for your great videos in 2023 and looking forward to your progress in 2024. Happy New Year to you and your family. Chris from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺.
You can't beat having cattle outside karen it's their natural place to be...I know they have to be brought in to save the land in winter but getting them out in february really worked for you their coats are better and they are happier outside...that's why I think they went so well for you...great video as always...
Well, I just need to say something about you and the farm, and why the Farm has done well this year.Is because your not just clever, you are also as keen as mustard, and the most important thing is the love and care you give to the animals .Your Dad must be so proud of you.Well done
Brilliant recap on last year Karen , I think the loader is worth keeping , it just makes the job so much easier. I think it would maybe make more sense to have some of the read beds dug out . I wish all the best for 2024 and hope it's a successful year for you . ❤
Your more than welcome Karen, and keep that policy of not becoming a sales influencer for any Tom Dick or Harry company offering you sweets to sell their stuff. We turn away most offers on the spot. Great sum up of 2023, lots of good content and information. Here’s to an even better 2024 for you and your dad, keep up the great work. 🙂👍🏼
Nothing like a good ramble, you’re very pleasant and informative to listen to. Having listened I’d say stick with the loader/tractor set up for now. The loader has freed time up for you to get more done.
As you've probably gathered Karen we (My Karen and myself) know very little about farming, you are the only farming channel we watch, your knowledge and enthusiasm is what keeps us coming back and we are so happy for the success you have had this year! As for the loader, well it's easy to see what a difference it has made to you! Keep the loader and give the 135 another year in the fields, maybe this time next year you will be in the position to buy a bigger tractor. Best of luck for 2024.
Congrats for all your success, your grandfather would be so happy to see that, you are obviously doing a great job. I wish you all the best for 2024. 💛
Great video as usual. You are nevere boring Karen, your love of what you do and your aattention to animal welfare shine through and make your videos compu;sive viewing. You would be lost without the loader,it would be a step bachward to let it go.Kare I am sure everyone of your subscribers are totally behind you and will join me in wishing you every success.
Karen, my advice would be to keep the loader since it is soooo useful to you. Keep your eyes open for a used bigger tractor that can help out the 135 when you need somthing bigger. A used tractor with out a loader on it should not be too difficult to find since you won't really need it until spring or summer. You're doing great things there. Take care.
Well done on 2023 Karen. It was a tough year for farming, poor weather, cost of inputs and the TB result definitely didn't help, but your positivity and honesty makes the channel enjoyable to follow. Hopefully a better 24 for ye all.
Also, I'd stick with the loader. The 135 will struggle away and get most of the jobs done fine. And if there's any big jobs to be done it's as handy to get in a lad who'll probably do it quicker anyway for a few quid. Who ever does the baling for you would be your best bet.
I’m here from Adrian’s referral. I stay because you’re very informative, and very easy to listen to. I’d love to see you meet with Adrian and his girls someday.
Happy New Year Karen and family from across the pond (Alberta). I’m here because of Farmer P. Catch most all of the videos from the both of you. Small farm here too, but we all help feed the world. Keep up the good work.
In my opinion, a 100hp tractor is what you need with the aim to eventually upgrade to a slurry spreader and muck spreader. But it all depends on your plans going forward
Happy New Year to you all, tough one the loader decision I was thinking the tractor loader around 60hp that can handle the bales 90 hp a much big lump, the more you drive machinery the better you become you have proved that but 😂you will never know until you try a tractor but agree that loader is awesome for you, weed wipe and the rushes is a must really knock them back you know from the topper your getting extra grass,a bigger tractor on those boggy areas will make more mess, thinking about it as I write it’s the loader, your topper etc are to small for a big tractor. Animals look great shows your doing a grand job on your farm keep up the good work.
Happy New Year Karen It is quite a dilemma you have I know there are a few different ways of looking at it The most important is your safety in my opinion I have watched you struggle with bales with the front of the tractor in mid air not good or safe and if you get injured the whole job is up in smoke I vote to keep the loader persevere with the 135 for the outside jobs but most important TAKE CARE The cattle are looking great more power to you GF
Karen love your channel! All your farm upgrades were wonderful. Topper has been awesome for managing rushes. My vote is keep loader it’s been grand for your moving items and cleaning pens. Tractor with loader would not maneuver like loader, you would not be happy. 135 does field work as you need, yea not comfortable like loader but does job. Looking forward to 2024.
To be absolutely honest for the size you are I'd strongly suggest getting a loader capable tractor but don't worry about the height or strength of the loader on it - get a hydraulic top-link for the rear 3-point on it so you can use bale grabs, spikes, etc that way. Something in the 70hp range at most. Its important to have one that handles a loader or you'll end up with a tractor that can't move enough hydro.
Hi Karen, just seen your video now i would definitely go for a 70 to 100 hp tractor with loader, my reason being is there is no guarantee how long into the future the 135 will last and you might be facing buying a tractor anyway, you will have more comfort for field work and could also use different attachments on the loader when needed i.e bucket , forks ,grab e.t.c . After a couple of years of having a Tractor and loader myself i then got a fertiliser Platform for to take the big bag of Fertiliser and saved me buying the Fertiliser Lifter , now i can put out fertiliser without needing the Fertiliser lifter or manually lifting bags hope this helps.
Hi Karen! I am an old farmer, from Denmark, almost 70, and can no longer manage the farm, so the land is rented out. Keep your MF 135 and buy the loader and you can handle the hard work for many years.
Karen, you have a positive and honest attitude towards farming and life. A great ambassador. Thank you for sharing your experience. Wishing you and your family a Healthy & Happy New Year. As Farmer Phil would say 'Good Luck '
Don't forget your self Karen your are a inspiration for so many people with your get up go in all conditions.. and a beacon of hope for farming in the years to come and the back bone of this country A country with strong women will never fail.. wish you the Very best in 2024 and enjoy every moment...❤❤
Karen that was a great review not at all boring or rambling . You are going from strength to strength. So admire your honesty doing the videos on your terms. Good luck to you and all involved on the farm for 2024.
We got a loader last year as well, and it has been great investment. It can't lift as high as our loader tractors (two 90hp) but for every day oporation that's not a problem. Getting into our barn with a tractors has allways been tricky but never with the loader. My parents was sceptical to a loader at first, since my grandpa had one which wasn't very good.
I watch and subscribe to a number of American farmers and cattlemen and have for a time now. I really don't recall how you came to my notice. But from the first time I watched I was hooked. Much like the American ones I watch, you seemed straight forward and honest. And I liked the size of your operation. My best to you and your family for the coming year.
Karen Great videos. I would definitely go for loader and tractor. You will get so much more future use out if it and you will find it will be ideal for your shed work and your field work.
Telehandler something like a Merlo p27.6 or a manitou 412 h does everun make one like those. Next year's purchase. Then grow your business more land talk right to the neighbour with those big eyes and smile sure his heart has got to melt even it was made of granite. Then in a few years sell the 135 topper and rotator like the spade it didn't work. Then buy a 4wd tractor around 100 HP and disc mower. All the best for the new year Phil. 🥂
I was stuck in a similar dilemma a couple of years ago. Some of the advice I had was to upgrade to a more recent and on the 70hp tractor with a front loader. Now one thinks that what we have is enough to do the jobs needed but if by any chance you want/need to acquire new equipment for any specific job, one will get stuck with the machinery we have at the moment and what It would be able to handle. A nice gesture from you fellow farmtubers, some of them in my following list. Wishes of a good and successful year ahead!
Buy Tom Pemberton’s old Hurlimann 100 which he traded in for the big CASE 150 Karen ideal stock woman’s tractor . Plenty power for you ideal on hills, wet land etc. Cornthwaites Case Preston Lancashire or something similar. The loader is a great job and the 135 is a family heirloom as well as very handy.
Hello Karen. This is the first time I've watched your channel, although I do follow you on Instagram. I spent my working life in farming. Milking, beef and arable, so I tend to know what you are talking about. Of course, I'm long since retired, being 82 now, but I still enjoy looking over the hedges to see what others are doing. I would like to know a little more about your life and the farm, but I daresay I will learn more by watching your channel. Good luck for 2024.
Thank you so much and welcome. I think the first video I made here around this time last year gives some background to the farm and how I ended up farming if you're interested
@@karenmoynihanfarm Thank you for replying to my comments. So if I search for a video of yours from around this time last year, that will be the the one!
Keep the loader, you will use it every day, on a farm your size you will use the tractor once or twice a week. Don’t forget if you buy a tractor and loader every job that requires the loader for one element means you don’t have the tractor anyway. For example if you are sowing fertiliser and lifting bags with the tractor and loader you don’t have the big tractor for the sower, likewise if your filling muck you can’t fill with the same tractor you are spreading with. I was in the same position when I started, I bought a handler first and a decent tractor a few years later. If I had to give one up today it would have to be the tractor.
First off im a long time out of farming so im only ofvering a few farmers near me with similar beef and sheep farming and maby im mising the point but you intend to sell the loader and buy a tractor and loader instead . if not why not buy a bigger tractor. without a loader and use the loader you have . anyway love your videoes and wishing you and you family a very happy new year keep up the good work
Karen, I think you’ve answered your own questions. The loader seems to be the best solution for you, especially as you are not prepared to let the 135 go. Getting a bigger tractor means you’d have two tractors vs. a tractor and a loader. Everything involves an element of compromise and having the 135 and a loader appears to work best for you. You’d get less use and utility from owning two tractors against the 135 and a loader…in my opinion. Anyway, you have time to consider your options. In the meantime, all the way from the Far East, I wish you and all your family a very happy and healthy new year.
An absolute education in grass managing and animal care so glad you got the loader to go with the 135 and if you can keep the loader you should for your own comfort i would imagine that the company who you have it from would be very happy to give you a great deal on it wishing you and all the family a happy and prosperous safe new year on the farm
The 135 will do most of your work instead of spending a load on a bigger tractor that sits in the shed most of the time. I've a david brown 995 wouldn't change it for anything. All I need is a loader for it. The loader is a huge investment for feeding but if you can afford it go for it. All the best for 2024
Hi and happy new year. That was a very interesting review of 2023. I've a similar size farm to yours and I'd say keep the loader. You've been impressed by its maneuverability, which you need in your size of sheds. If you ever drive a tractor and loader you'll think its an awkward pig of a thing . As you say, the 135 is doing all you need or want to do. Once you get a weed wiper you won't have a rush problem so the topping will be easier. Plus there's nothing wrong with giving a tractor a bit of hard work. Within reason.
HI BUY THE LOADER ,for what land you have to work the 135 will manage for the time being. The loader will be handy outside to move scrub and drive the odd post
Great look back over the past year. My farming operation was fairly similar to yours. My shed is straw bedded with a deep bedded lie back area divided by sleepers. I bought a tractor with a loader 5 years ago. It’s definitely the best purchase I have made. I just couldn’t imagine being without it now. If you were to get a loader it would mean two machines using diesel, repairs etc. I know you are not going to get rid of the 135. It will cost you money down the road to keep it in working order. You would be able to do everything with a tractor and loader that you are doing with the loader apart from manoverability. Thanks for the videos and a very happy new year.
Farmerp is great at what he does, great for promoting new TH-camrs. He was my 22nd subscriber and is after messaging me a few times already. Happy New Year to all in kerry. Keep up the good work.
Hi Karen. A happy new year to you and your family. Great video, well spoken. It's always good to look back and measure ourselves against the year before and compare what worked and what didn't and how we can aim for more improvements for the year ahead. Well done.
What about putting a front loader on the 135 that's what I use lifts bails of silage perfect with weight on the back keep up the great shows your doing
Loved every second of it! Here's to wishing you a happy and prosperous 2024! Please don't stop giving us all the farm talks. Can hardly wait to see the next video. 😀
karen keep the loader use the135 for anther year then look a t bigger tractor for field work once loss it it gone have great new year stay safe and be lucky
Happy New Year to you and your family. I would buy the loader - winters are now almost 6 months and it’s when days are shortest and you are working in artificial light. Loader is articulated which makes it very manoeuvrable in tighter sheds. I myself use a skidsteer and sold a tractor to buy it. Best of luck with decision and keep the 135 as no modern day tractor will outlive it.
Happy New Year! From the sound of the rain I'm thinking perhaps a row boat may be a valuable addition to your equipment. At least to have on hand, just in case. . .
Karen, you are such an honest girl. You are great if you can afford the loader. And if you can i would suggest buying it. The day will come when you can buy a decent tractor, no rush on you. Happy New Year to you and all the family and Rob.
All the best 2024 to you a your da Try all things It may work but may not not all farm practices will work for everybody Keep up the work 😊😊 from another Alberta subscriber

That friend Ger sounds like a lovely fellow!
I farm We farm says the animals will be the best test. I agree.
I say keep the loader would be handy for the big bag of fertiliser great look back what we worked on your farm
In my opinion, a 100hp tractor is what you need with the aim to eventually upgrade to a slurry spreader and muck spreader. But it all depends on your plans going forward

To be absolutely honest for the size you are I'd strongly suggest getting a loader capable tractor but don't worry about the height or strength of the loader on it - get a hydraulic top-link for the rear 3-point on it so you can use bale grabs, spikes, etc that way. I was advised that same a couple of years ago @prjndigo
First off im a long time out of farming so im only ofvering a few farmers near me with similar beef and sheep farming and maby im mising the point but you intend to sell the loader and buy a tractor and loader instead . if not why not buy a bigger tractor. without a loader and use the loader you have . anyway love your videoes and wishing you and you family a very happy new year keep up the good work
No I only have this loader on demo so I don't own it and need to decide whether to buy at the end of the demo or let it go
I see now I understand your situation best of luck in 2024
Fingers crossed for no TB and a happy and prosperous year.
Thank you so much! ☺️ you too!
Hi Karen, another great video, everything so well explained,
you had a great year, that's good,
i wish you and your family a happy new year 🎉
Karen, I think you’ve answered your own questions.
Thank you, you too
An absolute education in grass managing and animal care so glad you got the loader to go with the 135 and if you can keep the loader you should for your own comfort i would imagine that the company who you have it from would be very happy to give you a great deal on it wishing you and all the family a happy and prosperous safe new year on the farm
The 135 will do most of your work instead of spending a load on a bigger tractor that sits in the shed most of the time. I've a david brown 995 wouldn't change it for anything. All I need is a loader for it. The loader is a huge investment for feeding but if you can afford it go for it. All the best for 2024
Very good Karen. Thanks for the lovely videos in 2023 and all the best for 2024 to you and family and farming
Happy New Year.Gerat video,s.. always enjoy then .And yes KEEP ON FARMING.. Ikey.
Hi Richard I’m very similar to you and like to have a loader tractor
How is it working out how do you bed up ?
Thanks for that Richard, you do make a good point there
Not that I love machinery all that much but I love topping , something relaxing about it
Same 🤣
Wishing you happiness, health and prosperity for 2024 ❤
You wouldn't have much of a use for the loader in the summer. Get a frount loader tractor use it all year around
My small loader moves bails with a bail handler loads and stacks 2 high and will lift 3 high if you need great tool.
Farmerp is great at what he does, great for promoting new TH-camrs. He was my 22nd subscriber and is after messaging me a few times already. Happy New Year to all in kerry. Keep up the good work.
Happy New Year Karen! Thanks for all you do to create these videos on top of all the hard work that you do. You are an amazing young woman!
Keep up the good work and keep the shovel and you will get a bigger tractor some time
Great Video again Karen Happy New Year. Looking forward to 24.

karen keep the loader use the135 for anther year then look a t bigger tractor for field work once loss it it gone have great new year stay safe and be lucky
I do like the idea of a skid steer as well but hard to get them around here second hand
Happy New Year! From the sound of the rain I'm thinking perhaps a row boat may be a valuable addition to your equipment. At least to have on hand, just in case. . .
We'll never flood up here thankfully 😅
Karen, you are such an honest girl. You are great if you can afford the loader. And if you can i would suggest buying it. The day will come when you can buy a decent tractor, no rush on you. Happy New Year to you and all the family and Rob.
Thanks very much
