Just found your channel here Miss Karen? My name is Ron from Michigan USA. Great video. Its nice to see and hear in how you care for your cows and yet for your equipment.
Don't worry too much, Norma's calf looks Bonnie enough. I think the reseeded field will look a lot better after some rain on it. Another interesting video Karen, Cheers Poth.
Hi Karen, Another great video, as usual everything so well explained, and you can handle all problems with ease, and things on the farm are going good, 👍
In regards to the 390, you can do a couple of little checks yourself before it goes to the mechanic. Look at the battery terminals for signs of green on the cables ends & a build up of white powder on the battery terminals more noticeable on the battery + terminal. Give them a tug & make sure they don't move & are tight. Do the same on the starter-motor make sure all the cables are tight & have no movement. When you take it to the mechanic tell them its a hard start, you'll get a more complete diagnosis. There are a lot of things that can cause a hard start, weak battery, poor cable condition, bad ground, lazy starter motor, low compression, weak glow plugs, fuel running back. Remember you are paying the mechanic to diagnose & rule out all the above problems rather than chucking expensive parts on to your tractor. All the best with both I look forward to hearing what your mechanic finds on the fuel system of the 135. Those cow do keep you busy
You mentioned a crankshaft seal if it's the back seal and they are splitting her make sure they check the clutches as well for it a fairly big job splitting one so make one split do all keep the great work up
When we bought our 390 we had the same problem with the starter so we changed to a quick starter and we have had no problems since, the standard starters on them were never a good job but hope this helps
Hope you don’t mind me saying but I’d plaster the wall behind your calfing area and give it a coat of white wash. Your cattle are a credit to the two of you. Thanks for posting
Excellent animal husbandry Karen just keep an eye on him.Looks lovely were you live,I love spring and summer. Its lovely here In south west France ,Iv'e been out with my mates on our Harleys It's a bit too hot at the moment 29C today all the farmers are out harvesting wheat .
i've got a MF 390T and that one is a brilliant starter........still got it's original starter motor on it and she's 29 years old with 7,000 hours on the clock
U fertilized top where they stay, it taste better. Top rushes in bottom them spread some fertilizer then they will eat in bottom. Can you bail bottom grass?
You're a great girl Karen. Like the way you say Doing the Business Keep the Business flying. Hope you're 2 cows go in calf. You could have 2 calves the first few days in April..Good luck with everything xxxx
You should watch that all of your heifers that aren’t supposed to be incalf are cycling in case that bull/bullock bulled them. That calf does look a little bit empty.
They haven't started cycling yet. They were separated from him until a couple of weeks ago thankfully because he was with the cows to show them up so we should be good
A good stockman trusts her instincts, the calf looks a bit gaunt, possibly mineral deficiency (selenium), worms or simple dehydration from weaning stress causing an electrolyte imbalance. Best not to wait for an emergency. Realize he’s not easy to handle but try to do a basic hands on exam, press the abdomen looking for tenderness, check skin tenting on neck or back, run fingers inside of mouth. If possible check urine color and a stool sample. Keep an eye on him.
@@karenmoynihanfarm oh right, so the call out fees are more expensive than the actual treatments then ? Very much enjoy your videos, thank you for your reply. The man that marries you can count himself a very lucky chap - you're a very hard worker. 🙂👍
Do rhe calf for worms, he looks empty in himself, mineral trace dose would do him no harm, if the cow hasn't much milk creep feeding would help him too
290 and 390 are not good starters, they need a lot of heat so make sure battery is good, good connections and glow plugs are working, 135s are far superior to start.
Maybe some Banamine would bring her around or maybe give her some vitamin B But maybe she is just smaller you know , Life is that way as long as she is not losing weight she maybe fine I raised Allot of calves in my time working at the Uf Dairy. Lost some But 97% of over 3 K is not to bad To have lived and produced tons of milk for us.
Fit a mahle 4.2 kw starter motor , fit nothing else as there is others being advertised but only rubbish and do slow down when trying to start the engine the longer you keep trying!
Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a young yearly bull for a year down the line to bred your heifers and cows, verses having the vet com out each time or even more for some at a minimum?
The vet doesn't do the AI. The AI is a lot cheaper than a visit from a vet. The vet just had to come this time because there was an issue. Bulls are dangerous no matter how quiet you think they are and we don't have the fencing set up in most of our fields to hold a bull for any length of time
You said it yourself " Norma,s calf is always small" . He might look small to you but that's beause the others are like gym bunnies. The calves birthdays should be noted and one other thing you dont hear about and that is the level of milk solids per cow. That coud be a genuine reason to cull a cow but not Norma.
Good morning ladies help from Romania I greet you with respect Marius 🙏🙋🇷🇴🤠
Hello Karen yes you did the right getting the vet out ❤❤

Maybe he's having a growth spurt. They just look scrawny for a bit then suddenly fill out.
Very true.
It’s nice to see tractors with mechanical issues. As opposed to all the modern ones of today with sensors, and software issues.
Hi Karen,
Another great video, as usual everything so well explained, and you can handle all problems with ease, and things on the farm are going good, 👍

Good video again Karen im no farmer but the calf looks fine to me

Hi Karen good update the 390 needs a high-speed starter, that will solve the problem.
Thank you, I didn't know there was such a thing 😅
Neice lady ❤
Красивая ирландка, к тому же работящая!
Give em a shot of PG 👌

He's not weaning so don't think it's dehydration or stress. seems to be doing very well now again that the weather has picked up a bit
I hope you don't mind me saying but that calf looks a bit stiff in the joints , you have good stock
Any particular reason why you don’t stack your round bales on their ends ?
Contractor doesn't have that bale handler
👍👍
I think Sheenan is looking for his own youtube channel 😂...calf looks good to me karen he'll catch up im sure they all look smashing...
Wonder if that calf got bitten with Adder ?
That 390 may need the starter Motor refurbing
What bull Did you use for the 2 cows?
Little red got a limousin (power) and snowflake got a simmental (Jericho)
@@karenmoynihanfarm Coose Jerico is a great bull. 👍🏻
Both calves look fine, the thinner one might be bigger than the other one soon
For such a small operation, vets fees must surely make up a significant amount of your outgoings on a yearly basis ?
Some years it's grand and other years it's a lot. When he's here we try to give him more than one job to reduce the call out fees 😅

Hi Karen. A they the same bull .
Yes they are
@@karenmoynihanfarm the other calf is super quality.
Heater plug or starter
thats interesting the English language has so many unique dialect.
Have a new starter for it
👍👍❤️
❤
You need to be heating those 390 if not used for a while, need to heat for 20 seconds. Also the starters on them are lazy.
What do you think as a big utuber in Ireland what's going on now in our country????????
Yes crank seal

Sometimes Karen a Cow that had a C Section might not go back in calf. Little red is in great order. Xxx
She's been in calf every year since so hopefully it'll be the same this time on her 4th calf
Fit a mahle 4.2 kw starter motor , fit nothing else as there is others being advertised but only rubbish and do slow down when trying to start the engine the longer you keep trying!
