      Yes! Great idea. It would be great to see how we came to eat what we eat nowadays.
      It’s always funny to me when people find out that potatoes weren’t eaten in the Netherlands until someone brought them here a few hundred years ago.
      Most people will consider potatoes to be typical Dutch, which they are now but haven’t always been. The same could be said for tulips by the way. 🌷

    I really cannot express how appreciative I am for the accurate captions on these videos. I’m slowly losing my hearing, but I love these videos and watch every single one, and the fact that I can still engage with the nuanced jokes and understand what’s happening is really powerful. The attention to detail (and accessibility) is what I adore about this channel.

      @wellox8856 ปีที่แล้ว

      You guys might know this already but I feel like sharing it as I myself had a hard time seeing the text sometimes so if you press the + and - on your keyboard the captions size increase and decrease accordingly :) Also pressing W makes the black background more opaque!

    • @LaOwlett
      @LaOwlett หลายเดือนก่อน

      The captioning is done by an automated youtube program, not the channel itself - and youtube's captioning software is highly dependent on the quality of mic and annunciation of the people speaking. Creators can however, review the generated captions to correct any errors - if they're aware of them.

      The Try Guys are kinda doing this, where they are retrying past “Without A Recipe” videos and seeing where they can improve. Then they redo it for personal pride.
      This would be an awesome idea because, like any career, professional development is a huge part of staying on top of your game. This could be a four-part series too, where Ben and/or James can work with them and we get to see a full skills and recipe development plan, behind the scenes style. Then it all culminates in either a three way battle, or a beat-the-chef blind taste test against the chef that didn’t train them on that specific dish.

    An idea for a badge: Everyone gets given the same bunch of common ingredients, typically to be found in a fridge or a cupboard, then they are allowed to purchase/bring a single main ingredient to then develop and cook a midweek dish. Badge: Limited Recipe Making

    • @feitocomfruta
      @feitocomfruta 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Another Badge Name: Pantry Raid
      To help with this, there should be some kind of Behind The Scenes video or something which is an Updated Pantry/Fridge list. For example, one show I watch, Guy’s Grocery Games, listed their pantry for competitors as: AP flour, white sugar, water, salt, pepper, oil, garlic powder, red chili flake. So anything else they wanted had to be sourced from the market it is set in, meaning it was subject to the rules of the set challenge. From what I've seen there are 2 forms of buttermilk now a days. The classic buttermilk is the liquid you have left over after turning out the butter and is closer to skim milk. What Jamie used was "cultured buttermilk" which is fermented and ends up more like runny yogurt as we saw in the video.

      I don't know how easy it is to get US style buttermilk in the UK. But I've used both sour cream thinned with milk and the lemon juice in milk trick. I think they did the lemon juice method and left it so long that they made a yogurt of sorts.
