To repent for salvation is to change your mind from unbelief to belief. From trusting in yourself to trusting in Christ. True repentance will always be a change of mind that will lead to a change of actions. All this comes from God, Holy Spirit which convicts you and Jesus Christ who died and rose again so we have someone to trust in the first place for salvation.

What you are referring to is a repentance that we see David did when he sinned against God. He wasn’t an unbeliever in God, he already believed God. Again in revelations Jesus says to repent to the churches, He isn’t talking to unbelievers but to those who have already trusted in Him. Repentance(metanoia) is also changing the way you think about yourself towards God, repantance is not only recognizing you have sinned, its also recognizing that you are a sinner, will keep sinning and you cant do nothing to save yourself.

First you are saved and after that you will want to have a sanctified behavior and God will make you have a sanctified behavior but still that doesnt save you and neither keep you saved. The dangerous part here is that it is very commun for people to say that to be saved you need to turn away from sin and that is a lie, there are only 2 requesites to be saved, repent and beliveve the gospel of Jesus Christ. The issue is that some say that repent is turning away from sin and that is a mistake, because people will truly think they can stop sinning when what repentance truly means is a change of mind, and this change of mind holds much more thing than you might think, for example people think they can stop sinning to gain salvation and they didnt even recognize yet that towards God your just a soul that deserved to be trown at the lake of fire. This word metanoia/repantance(change of mind) has a much more deep meaning if you meditate about it. Ill give you a little example with myself, im someone who smoked and loved to smoke weed, for me weed was medecine and at that time there was alot of studies proving weed is healthy, i even used some bible verses to promote my weed smoking, it was truly hard for someone to tell me to leave it because in my mind it was a good thing, now with the years God kept making me uncomfortable about smoking and wouldnt leave me alone until i changed my mind about it and after that stop smoking was very easy, so what was hard is not stop smoking but to admit that i was wrong. We are to repent from sin. God word say sin is the transgression of the law. Now that means we to stop breaking God's . And to start to live God's way. It just that simple.

There are often times people tell others to repent and they are out of line. My convictions come from within and preside over my relationship with the Holy Spirit. I use to think it meant to repent of sin, but scripture never says to repent of sin, it says to repent and be FORGIVEN of your sins. Cory, you are assuming the people are being told to repent of their sins, it just says repent. So, the question is indeed “of what”. Well, you can repent of sin all day long and that is not going to save you, we must repent of what we think about Jesus, because that’s the only thing that can save you. The same scripture you are talking about gave us the things you said we don't need, Pastor, teachers, other saints and told us not to forsake the assembly for a reason. King James Version was converted by a man, how come the Holy Spirit doesn't just translate it for you? You are literally saying, I have to have the same mindset about sin that Christ does, then and only then will he save me. So, I have to have the mindset of Christ without being saved by Christ in order to be saved by him? If repentance is simply changing my mind about sin, why do I need Christ? I thought the work of sanctification starts AFTER we are saved, isn’t that part of becoming more and more sensitive to sin, or are you saying we become sensitive to sin then get saved? Doesn’t make sense to me. Of course we become more sensitive to sin as we grow in the lord, but that not required for salvation. Cory, we need to change our mind about Christ. If we change our mind about Christ, put our faith in Christ, believe on Christ we will be saved, doesn’t matter what you believe about sin if you don’t have Christ you are doomed. Me personally, when i changed my mind about sexual immorality after a relationship with that one and only person i did it, i was opened then to see how things were supposed to be. Later on i realized His love for me and i surrendered my life to Him as The Son did for us.

When I sin, it breaks me down. I hate it and imagine the disappointment I've caused to both Christ due to his sacrifice and the grief I've caused the Holy Spirit. However, when I confess to God and rely on him and pray and accept his mercy, I feel emboldened to stand strong and not return to the emptiness of sin. Pray my strength in the Lord brothers as I pray for yours.
For Christians repentance is just once. Why would a Christian need to keep changing their mind about sin? That doesn't make sense. Once you become a believer, repent(change your mind about, toward sin) and are baptized then when you sin(all Christians sin) what you do is confess your sin to God because as a Christian you have already changed your mind about sin, quit "living in sin" or continue in a lifestyle that is sinful in the eyes of God. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Repenting from sins, dying daily take up the cross daily, this is discipleship not automatic, once we get saved we have that free will choice to serve God or to fulfill the lust of the flesh. There are a lot of people who claim they have faith but their fruit tells another story. Forgiveness and repentance are interrelated. When we ask God for forgiveness, we must ask for the strength to make a change in our sinful thoughts and deeds. Otherwise our sinful ways become repetitive.
To repent for salvation is to change your mind from unbelief to belief. From trusting in yourself to trusting in Christ. True repentance will always be a change of mind that will lead to a change of actions.
All this comes from God, Holy Spirit which convicts you and Jesus Christ who died and rose again so we have someone to trust in the first place for salvation.

Repenting from lust is great but it’s doesn’t bring you salvation. What you are referring to is a repentance that we see David did when he sinned against God. He wasn’t an unbeliever in God, he already believed God. Again in revelations Jesus says to repent to the churches, He isn’t talking to unbelievers but to those who have already trusted in Him.
So He isn’t saying to repent from their sins for salvation, but to repent as you stated because that is not how we are supposed to be living as the body of Christ.

The dangerous part here is that it is very commun for people to say that to be saved you need to turn away from sin and that is a lie, there are only 2 requesites to be saved, repent and beliveve the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The issue is that some say that repent is turning away from sin and that is a mistake, because people will truly think they can stop sinning when what repentance truly means is a change of mind, and this change of mind holds much more thing than you might think, for example people think they can stop sinning to gain salvation and they didnt even recognize yet that towards God your just a soul that deserved to be trown at the lake of fire.
This word metanoia/repantance(change of mind) has a much more deep meaning if you meditate about it.
Ill give you a little example with myself, im someone who smoked and loved to smoke weed, for me weed was medecine and at that time there was alot of studies proving weed is healthy, i even used some bible verses to promote my weed smoking, it was truly hard for someone to tell me to leave it because in my mind it was a good thing, now with the years God kept making me uncomfortable about smoking and wouldnt leave me alone until i changed my mind about it and after that stop smoking was very easy, so what was hard is not stop smoking but to admit that i was wrong.

The Book of John is chocked full of scripture telling us to believeth on him meaning on his work, his sacrifice. Does sinful actions take us to Hell or our sin nature condition? There are often times people tell others to repent and they are out of line. My convictions come from within and preside over my relationship with the Holy Spirit.

I use to think it meant to repent of sin, but scripture never says to repent of sin, it says to repent and be FORGIVEN of your sins. Cory, you are assuming the people are being told to repent of their sins, it just says repent. So, the question is indeed “of what”. Well, you can repent of sin all day long and that is not going to save you, we must repent of what we think about Jesus, because that’s the only thing that can save you. We change our mind about what Jesus can do about our sin. Basically if I have to repent of my sin, that’s the same as saying if I change my mind about works(the law and sin) I can be saved.

I thought the work of sanctification starts AFTER we are saved, isn’t that part of becoming more and more sensitive to sin, or are you saying we become sensitive to sin then get saved? Cory, we need to change our mind about Christ. If we change our mind about Christ, put our faith in Christ, believe on Christ we will be saved, doesn’t matter what you believe about sin if you don’t have Christ you are doomed. Repent(change your mind about Christ) and be saved from your sins, because changing your mind about what Christ can do about sin is the only thing that will save you.
Watch the video again, he gave scripture of Ezekiel 36:25-27 where God gives you a new heart, puts his spirit and did not ask you to do those things you are talking, he talked about all of that in the video, you probably missed it looking for something else.

When I sin, it breaks me down. I hate it and imagine the disappointment I've caused to both Christ due to his sacrifice and the grief I've caused the Holy Spirit. However, when I confess to God and rely on him and pray and accept his mercy, I feel emboldened to stand strong and not return to the emptiness of sin. For Christians repentance is just once. Why would a Christian need to keep changing their mind about sin? That doesn't make sense. Repenting from sins, dying daily take up the cross daily, this is discipleship not automatic, once we get saved we have that free will choice to serve God or to fulfill the lust of the flesh. God gives us free will to make the choices, and he wants us to free will serve him, put on the new man, the new man is sinless but the old man flesh is not. and he will chasten punish us may even take us home early if we choose to disobey him. choose life. Ok, but thats not eternal salvation, eternal salvation is a free gift Once Saved Always Saved.

@@nikokapanen82 Lack of sin in your life is not evidence of salvation. We are all being sanctified and some of our sins may look more habitual than others in different seasons. There’s no BUT to the fact that simple belief is what saves and keeps us!

But there must be change. If there is no change at all then the faith one has is not genuine. All born-again believers experience a clear noticeable change in their behavior so that even their friendships change because they can no longer hang out with their old worldly friends.
@@nikokapanen82 my point is that belief saves and keeps us. There will be a change but that change isn’t evidence of salvation. We can look at fruit in a persons life and assume that they are saved but God knows who are his, he’s looking at the heart.

Changed behavior is definitely the best evidence of one's salvation, Jesus Himself said that by their fruit we will know them, I am convinced He meant both believers and unbelievers.
There are a lot of people who claim they have faith but their fruit tells another story. Just look at Kanye, how at first he claimed to be super Christian with his lips but with his behavior, we saw a very different picture.
This is why James said in his book: "Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works." James 2:20

Not true. Repentance is to change your thoughts and attitudes. It's to refuse to think unholy thoughts, like lust. It's to swap out ungodly attitudes like pride for humility. Rom 12:2

Yes this is the Gospel and it's been watered down to just believe when it's repentance and forgiveness of sins since we are sinners for God to forgive our sins through Jesus Christ since we have sinned we need to ask for forgiveness of our sins . And this is Jesus Talking not an apostole as we were all sinners and slaves to sin and in Christ forgiving our sins we Become a new creature his Word says .

Forgiveness and repentance are interrelated. When we ask God for forgiveness, we must ask for the strength to make a change in our sinful thoughts and deeds. Otherwise our sinful ways become repetitive.
