Once you have the conversions API set up, how do you send that data back to your CRM so that you can track which people interacted with an ad and what they did next (whether they became a customer, how much they spent, etc)?
Great, but how to tell the conversion api to send leads event when the user has reached the thank you page? Or how to tell the API to send the initial checkout when the user is in the form page?
It will match the pixel events you have set up on those pages. So if you have a Lead event on a page set up via the pixel, this setup will also automatically send a Lead event via the conversions API
This is Facebook's easy setup method - so it's easy to do but less customisable for power users. If you want full customisation, better to use GTM which is more difficult to set up but really flexible.

Hey Andrew thank you for this great video. I'm all setup for a month but I've been charged $80usd for Feb for Elastic Compute Cloud! Why am I being charged this. From your video it didn't explain there would be this charge? Thank you in advance :)
This is by far the most complete and most useful tutorial on CAPI available online, much much appreciated! So, Andrew, I followed your instructions carefully and everything seems to be working fine, except one thing. Namely, I've set up Contact and ViewContent events on the client's website that has a consistent flow of traffic from paid ads, but it seems that their CAPI Gateway Console is receiving PageView event ONLY (alongside Microdata and ButtonClicks). It seems that Contact and ViewContent events are somehow not reaching the CAPI Gateway at all, while the Test Events tab in Events Manager registers all events in real-time, including Contact and View Content events. Do you think this might be happening because the CAPI is relatively freshly installed (like 48 years ago), or you think there's something else going on? Many thanks in advance! Matt
@@Yas9in Yes, sir! It took me a few weeks to realize this --- So, all events (Lead, Purchase, Contact, etc.) that you set up on the website using the Event Setup Tool in Events Manager DO NOT appear in API console for some reason. Hole that helps. Cheers! Matt

Hey Pip! That does sound expensive compared to the bills im seeing but it depends on how much traffic you get, so it’s hard to say whether it’s more than it should be. What platforms do you use for website and email list (Wordpress, mailchimp etc.)? There might be an alternate method I can point you towards that’s free
@@pipward Same thing. Just got charged $40 USD for 2 weeks. Only 3.7k PageView events recorded. This seems like a very expensive way to do CAPI. I'll be looking into something else.
Hi Andrew great video - My web provider/Hosting site says that if they add the new IP address to my DNS setting it will point to that and no longer to my website. Am I missing something?
It's still best in terms of being the easiest way that works very well with a wide variety of tech setups. The downside is that it comes with a monthly fee from Amazon AWS for web hosting that can get expensive. Lots of people get charged $80 per month and above. If you use Shopify, their native integration is better because it's free and works very well. If you're exclusively on Wordpress, Facebook have a Wordpress plugin that does the job for free.

Hello Andrew! I'm afraid I might be doing something wrong. I keep getting this "404 Not Found" error msg every time I click on the output link (Min 6:30). Thanks! That’s correct
Hey Andrew thank you for this great video. I'm all setup for a month but I've been charged $80usd for Feb for Elastic Compute Cloud! Why am I being charged this. From your video it didn't explain there would be this charge? Thank you in advance :)
Hey Kiki - I actually mentioned in the video that AWS is a paid service and will have fees.
Thx for the tutorial. Do you know how much AWS cost ? thx U
Matt
Hey, having the same issue. Did you get it sorted?
@@Yas9in Yes, sir!
It took me a few weeks to realize this --- So, all events (Lead, Purchase, Contact, etc.) that you set up on the website using the Event Setup Tool in Events Manager DO NOT appear in API console for some reason. Only PageView events appear.
However, if you set up the events on the plug-in level (in PixelCat for WP for example), all the events (Purchase, Lead, Contact) are ACTUALLY visible in the API console.
Hole that helps. Cheers! Matt
@@matijabg Thanks Mat! I figured this out as well and set the events up with GTM HTML code. Will update if it works
Do we need Conversions API and Pixel be implemented in the same account? If yes is it possible to deduplicate using this method?
Hi Andrew, this is a great tutorial and we found it very easy to set up following your process. Something we have noticed though since we have completed it is that our Event Match Quality is pretty low? When we've looked into it, it doesn't seem to be matching up the; First Name, Last Name, E-mail and Phone Number details. Is this something you have seen before?
has anyone noticed this as well?
Thank you! Does this method work if Pixel was installed using Google tag manager? And does it automatically sent event parameters like value and currency)
And one more) Can i integrate offline conversions using CAPIG
Great video, Andrew. Thank you! Does this work with an Amazon S3 account?
Hi there! Loved your video! However AWS is charging me a lot more than I thought it would...have I done something wrong? Our bill is around AUD$100 for only 2 weeks
Hey Pip! That does sound expensive compared to the bills im seeing but it depends on how much traffic you get, so it’s hard to say whether it’s more than it should be.
What platforms do you use for website and email list (Wordpress, mailchimp etc.)? There might be an alternate method I can point you towards that’s free
@@AndrewHubbard1 Hi there! We are using click funnels - thanks!
Hi Darren
You just have to add an A record to the sub domain that you created while setting up the conversion api and not your main domain
Hi! Is this still THE BEST way to setup CAPI? Or do you have an updated way? THank you so much!
@@AndrewHubbard1 thanks for your reply Andrew!
I use Shopify. You mean, no need to use CAPI? Meta pixel is enough as well as the offline events data to capture purchases from IOS users?
@@msutuber123 You're welcome :). Nope, I mean Shopify has a native integration with Facebook that implements CAPI for you
@@AndrewHubbard1 Oh I see! I'll check it out. Thanks so much!!
Hi Andrew is it necessary for the sub to work? or can I create it without adding content?
Hey @Andrew , when you click begin deployment and want to enter admin domain , what do you mean by admin, should we enter our CMS login URL ? And credentials
Hello Andrew! I'm afraid I might be doing something wrong. I keep getting this "404 Not Found" error msg every time I click on the output link (Min 6:30). I've already whitelisted the domain and disabled ad blockers yet the problem remains. The DNS records propagated correctly and it seems to be acknowledged by Facebook as well. I did get the green dot for successful DNS records so, I'm stuck. What do you think might be causing this? Thanks a lot! =)
Did you ever fix this issue? I’m having the same problem… any discovered tips/tricks for this?
hey Andrew thanks for this great video, quick question have you had to wait a long time for the dns and AWS to work correctly. currently still waiting after 24 hours for the dns to work and the AWS to work ? thanks
Hey Wafa, I’d expect it to be working by now. Probably worth checking everything
@@AndrewHubbard1 thank you i fixed it followed the video again, last question i got the api set up with the wordpress plug in ! once ive done it with the AWS way do i disconnect the wordpress partner api ?
Does this work also on webflow sites?
Do I need to to this if I am hosted on Shopify?
Nope. Just use their integration
Thank you very much for the video. It worked great for 3 months, but now the let's encrypt SSL certificate has expired. It did not renew automatically. What should I do?
very quality content! Thank you!
Cheers! Glad you’re finding the channel helpful
great video, congratulations
I have a question: in a previous video you showed the implementation of the pixel with the plug-in pixel caffeine;
for some time this plug-in has introduced the possibility to perform server-side monitoring, did you have a way of watching it? Is it a valid method to implement the convertion API?
Yep, but the developers have retired pixelcaffeine so I wouldn’t use it. Try the PixelYourSite Wordpress plug-in instead. It’s great and does CAPI
@@AndrewHubbard1 Thanks for the reply :)
a little doubt: you mentioned pixelyoursite; I know it well enough; with this plug-in I can set to obtain events both from the browser and from the server side, using the same plug-in in fact;
with the conversion API method that you show via AWS, are events sent only on the server side or also from the browser?
great video. easy to understand thank you
Is there a way to add another user to the Conversion API gateway hosted on AWS ?
Can we setup multiple pixel under 1 domain using this method?
Are you sure that the basic support still works? I think they make you go to the $100 business plan now. I don't see the correct instance types now. Please lmk if you have any input here!
Hi Andrew, Thank you for the great video! I wanted to start fresh and I went ahead and deleted my A record DNS and my AWS Stack. However, when I went to start fresh, I was unable to since it says that the Conversion API Gateway is connected. How can I proceed?
Great video Andrew! For agencies who are trying to use Conversions API on behalf of multiple clients, would we need to set up multiple AWS accounts for each individual clients? Or will one AWS account work on many different clients at once? Thanks!
Thanks! You can do it all in one AWS account :)
Great video! Do you feel that the one for WP Conversion tracking improves the accuracy of conversions? Just set it up since I am on WP. Or should I always use a server side solution?
Andrew - great video - all your videos are very informative!! I setup my domain through AWS as you described. When I got to the step where you click on the Output URL (after DNS verification) to fully provision on AWS I got a 404 error. I suspected that the connection wouldn't work - but 20 minutes later the Conversions API was active as an integration in Event Manager and I started receiving server traffic on my page views event. Unfortunately none of the other events I have setup, Lead specifically, generate any server traffic. How do I add events after the fact once this connection is setup?
Thanks!
I had the same issue. If you click the link above in the (CallToAction) value and login with the account email and password you setup, It'll work :)
Do you have a solution for this issue?
what service do i need to click to set it up. When i open aws it does not open to the same page as yours unfortuantely. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Great video but not fast and easy😳! Thank you thought it's very helpful!
Haha you’re right Chris. I should have said *relatively* easy 😂
Hi Andrew, I'm glad I found your video. It's been very helpful.
I tried your method step by step, but once I completed the CAPI Gateway setup, I clicked on the below button but it doesn't redirect to the login details. Do you know what went wrong?
Hey Harits, I got the same problem. It just directed me to my website. Did you found an solution?
@@stevejackson3201 I haven't found any. But it still working
Hi Andrew, question. If entering multiple domains for CAPI, do you need to have verified all those domains for CAPI to work?
Where can i find the events that were sent from pabbly or zapier in events manager?
Hi, i have a wired question, if i have setup conversion API with AWS, can i still call the events from GTM server side container?
Thank you! You made it easy and I was able to get that setup easily. One problem or question... Any insight on setting up the event_id for deduplication using this method?
bro dnt use as it will fuck up your already working conversions trust me the deduplication has fucked my sales I was getting around 30 a month sales now it came done to fucking 10 I'm now completely setting up new pixel why did I watched this video its a good explanation but the setup sucks a lot
Thanks for this video
Very nice video. More power to your to your elbow
