Hi Julian, thanks for another great video. Here is a question that I think can help a lot of people. I run a small marketing agency and all my clients have brick and mortar stores so the monthly traffic is relatively small. I've been setting up a separate GTM account for each client but I now realize that I would need separate server for each GTM account, am I correct? If that is the case, could I use a single GTM account for all my clients (about 30) and create a container for each (keeping in mind they all have their own domains, pixels, GA accounts) where I would filter their tags to only fire on their domains? That way I can have a single cloud server to handle all FB CAPIs. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Julian, unfortunately I don't see the tags for a UA or GA4 configuration. I posted in the Google forum a few weeks ago but unfortunately didn't get an answer yet. Do you have any idea how to get the configuration tags. They are directly from Google.
thanks for this tutorial, it is extremely helpful. I'm currently working intensively on server-side tracking and your videos are simply awesome for that, thank you very much 🙋♂️🚀
Hi, at minute 20:46 I can't see an event ID as a number unfortunately, only the variable. How else can I check if the Event ID is the same for both? Do you have any idea?
Hi, Thanks for the fantastic video! I'm in turmoil and hope you can help me. My GTM container already has a GA4 configuration tag with a measurement Id and a "purchase" event that sends data to GA4. My question is: Should I modify the existing GA4 configuration Tag and add the server URL or make a new GA4 configuration where I should add the stape server URL and a dummy measurement ID? Because the end goal is to send the same event to FB conversion API. I learnt from the video that deduplication is essential, so I am asking this and also don't want to send additional info to GA4 like event_id and other fields under "Fields to set". I appreciate any help you can provide.
Your tutorials are very good, but if you can show your explanation with some info-graphic visuals it can be understood by anyone and easy to learn as well, thanks a lot.
Hey Julian, Thanks for the video. Quick question. The track2 domain that you talk about, where does that come from? I'm a bit confused as to what I need to do in order to get the track 2 domain. I have AWS.
Hi, thx for the tutorial. Is this also compatible with "Universal Analytics" instead of "GA4"? Everything works for me except for the "Event ID" being passed serverside to the facebook Events Manager (clientside it works fine). As you also mention @21:21 I don't see any "Event ID", but for you it works somehow....
Hi, Can you tell me why inside the business manager if I go to evanti, from Pixel / API conversions I get more sales than the measurement of aggregate events? do sales from Pixel / api come only from FB / IG ads? or do they also come from google or other channels. Thank you
I would say that the advantage is that GTM (whether clientside of serverside) is ultimately as configurable as you want. If a plugin offers some form of CAPI then fine - but the plugin will only offer you what is baked in.
You can use GTM for wordpress free plugin. And you can setup using GTM CAPI, Facebook Pixel, GA, GA4, Server Side Tracking, TikTok Pixel, TikTok Event API, Google Ads Conversion, Remarketing Tag, Enhance Ecommerce Tracking and etc. If your need any help let me know I will help you 😊
So this is a client to server to server implementation? I've been reading the FB CAPI Developer Docs and it seems the only way to mitigate the effects of ad blockers as others mentioned is through a server to server integration. Could it perhaps be possible to have your server send the request to your GTM server side container, have the GA4 client claim, and then send that request along to FB? Or would this just be an extra step when you could just directly send it from your server over to the FB CAPI?
Great vid! If I already have a GA4 Pageview tag for my GA4 data on the client side, do I need to setup a separate GA4 Config tag to pipe the data to the Server side? Or can I simply modify my current GA4 tag to send to my Stape server container?
Thanks Julian. You're videos are super helpful. This one didn't help much. Seemed a bit disorganized. I guess, skipping the part about how to create a server side GTM container made the process more confusing.
I was just thinking about this very topic and your video popped up! Many thanks. Of course, the big question is: will it allow Facebook advertisers to "get back to where we were before OS14.6"? There are further changes coming in 15.
Hi Julian - thanks a lot for this howto, it is extreeeeeemely helpful 🙏💛. I have some feedback questions - sorry my english is not so fluent. 1. If we use for the shop a CMP banner and the user decline the consent for FB (not for GA4). So the GA4 Client Tag are fired and also the FB Server Tag but not the FB Client Tag? 2. Is the Event ID for FB Server Tag is missing, if the GA4 Client Tag not fired (add blocker or no consent)? 3. Is this setup currently best practice for Facebook Tracking? Not only/solid implementing by FB Server Tag/GTM Server Side?

My only doubt is about Facebook attribution on paid campaign. If I remember correctly with the pixel a cookie is set, so I guess that when a conversion happens on the client side, that information related to a FB campaign is sent as well. How is possible to achieve the same here? Do i have to store and pass in the S2S a facebook id, like the fbclckid?

Thank you for this awesome video. There are so many important informations on this video. So far this is the best video I have seen about Facebook conversions API setup on GTM but I have a question for you. How can I configure the tagging server? What should I do to get that custom domain server?
Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions. Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting. To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser. Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook. But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager… For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from. So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with… 1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting? 2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run? 3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?
Hi Adam. Have you found a fix to this problem? For me as well Facebook is receiving my event (when testing in event manager, everything looks fine) but it doesn't seem that it is correctly attributed to my ads, which under-report the results (big drop when comparing to Google Analytics).
@@mariemariemarie981 Unfortunately from what I gathered there isn't a 100% accurate solution. I hired someone on upwork to set all of the server side tracking and he said no matter what you set up FB ads manager is always going to be inaccurate and won't track everything. Google analytics is much more accurate but you want to at least make sure that you're sending all of the relevant ad data you can to FB through server side to increase the chances your ad conversions are linked to the correct ad.

Great video as always Julian. Speaking of ad blockers... Wouldn't an ad blocker block the GTM container altogether? Rendering GTM Server-side kind of pointless? All of this still relies on client-side javascript, no? What am I missing?
That is correct. This method relies in the client side of GTM. This method is about server side TAGGING not server side TRACKING. So yeah, an ad blocker would block the entire tracking. In order to send data to Facebook from the server you would need Zapier or a backend developer.
@@ezeea.2700 I think you can also prevent GTM from being blocked in the first place.
