The girl was wrong and stupid, but the cop was too. When you don’t know how to de-escalate a situation, you have nothing to do in the police.
Then another cop comes in the car to tell her she is not under arrest, while she is cuffed and detained. It is time that cops be taught the meaning of what they say. His superviser told him he wasn’t in the right to arrest her, so he believed that telling her she is not under arrest was sufficient although she was detained, which means arrested.
Issuing a trespassing order does not require any signature. A proof that it had been delivered is enough. Give her the paper in front of the body cam or witness. You don’t need to exerce physical control to do that. Only after she had been served and warned about the trespassing order, she can be arrested if she is found again on the property.
She would have a case with a good lawyer, because they charged her for resisting arrest after telling her she wasn’t arrested.

Clearly, she heard and saw it was an officer and most likely wasn't wanting to communicate with the police perhaps worried she/another household member had done something and they may have been there to make an arrest. So if she heard the tow truck she def heard the ongoing police banging on that door. They make themselves well known they are on site, she is clearly lying.

Domestic abuse isn't talked about enough. It still holds a negative stigma for a man to admit he is getting abused. I fear that people are just becoming more violent everyday. Plus this girl that's abusing her partner sounds tipsy. Anytime you add alcohol to the situation it's gonna bring more problems. I hope this gentleman gets out of this relationship before something terrible happens.

It's not just that there's a negative stigma, it's that the abusive woman can just claim that she was also being abused and make it into a he-said-she-said where they believe the woman by default. It's not worth the hassle to try to report it as a man, chances are you'll end up with charges.

He insisted on telling him "I was called because there was a guy getting beat up by (not even a full grown woman but) A GIRL, and remarked that again and again, which, to me, sounded like he wanted to make him feel shame. Me "was he black"?

Officer needed to explain the phrase "criminal trespass" because she was clearly in the mindset that she was being hit with a criminal charge when she was describing how she didn't do anything criminal. In fact, calling it "criminal trespass" sounds like the charge you get for Trespassing rather than the order against someone trespassing in the future.
20 seconds to explain how private property works and the whole exchange would have gone totally different.
Second arrest was literally just a power trip - no more, no less. He's on salary and he can't ask the tow guys if they are willing to wait five minutes? Even if you can't, legally, you can be professional and pretend and placate the emotional person.

As an adult male in he's early 50's this is quite hard to say, but I was a victim of Domestic abuse. Not in the sense of being hit or any real violence, but abused in other ways that were controlling & being mentally abused.
Basically I was allowed to get up, goto work, come home, goto bed, get up & repeat. And I was ordered not to do anything else in between without permission.
This included going out with friends, having my own money without asking etc etc.
When most people hear the words 'Domestic violence' they automatically assumes that the woman in the relationship is the victim & she was beaten, held against her will, treated like a slave, etc etc & unfortunately that's all to often the case.
Now I don't know about in the US, but it has been reported that more than 40% of Domestic abuse victims here in the UK are men.
The figures could actually be higher, but most men are ashamed to report the abuse to the police. The reason being; because they are men & don't want to be seen as "weak victims" or they don't want to be laughed at for not being a "real man".
It's very hard for men to come forward & admit that they are the victim & will also not defend himself when the wife/girlfriend is telling others she was the victim so it was really refreshing to see that the police made the woman face upto the fact that she was the abuser & her boyfriend was the victim.

@@VelvetHippos Hi my friend. I hope you are well. You are 100% right.
When you confide in someone that you are a victim of abuse the first thing that they look for is any physical evidence like cuts and bruises etc. If they can't see the evidence then the abuse isn't going on. Also, if you are a victim of domestic abuse & male you are less likely to be believed.
Research (conducted here in the UK) has shown that men are more likely to be victims of domestic abuse than women , but men feel like they won't be believed so don't report it.
More men need to come forward & let their voices be heard.

The Laws apply to everyone whether you agree or not.. If you choose to not follow the Laws then you have zero room to complain about it when you get arrested or a ticket.

I once lived with an ex and we got into a yelling match. She slapped me across the face and I stupidly said 'Is that the best you can do?' Boy the next one hurt! Anyway, I pushed her away from me and on to the bed. She immediately jumped up and called the police. After she was finished I told her they'd take my side as she hit first and I just pushed her away onto the safe bed. She looked panicked at me and asked if she should call them back to stop them coming. I told her it wouldn't matter at this point. They'll still come no matter what you say. So 2 cops turned up, a male and a female. They took us into separate rooms for statements before bringing us back together. They said our statements matched, then they looked at me and said 'Do you want to press charges?'. The male cop has a smirk on his face as he asked (my ex was tiny and I'm over 6 foot). I told him no, and they left. So in his mind I'm guessing, it would have looked dumb if I did because of the size difference. Apparently violence is OK if you're a much smaller woman (in his mind anyway) and the guy is much bigger.

It’s no surprise he wouldn’t want to speak with the officer. Even if he did deep down, you wouldn’t open up to someone who starts off by describing what you experienced as “getting beat up by girl.”
That’s not a person you’d open up to. He seems like he would cooperate with a bit of proper talking with a good cop who knows how to speak with compassion.

"Some guy possibly getting smacked around by a girl." Officer really flubbed up that one!🙄 "We were called out here because of a possible case of domestic violence." That's the proper way to say it. You tell a grown man that not only was he being beat up, but not by a woman, partner, girlfriend, etc but by a girl? Of course he's not going to press charges because that would feel shameful, embarrassing, and emasculating.

Agree! RE: MALE DV VICTIM: It was absolutely vile and disgusting that the officer practically threw it in his face as a dis, that he was being “beaten up by a girl!” Pendulum swings both ways. When I called for police assistance with my abusive spouse, the male officer was extremely condescending to me and in the report after he spoke to my lying, manipulative, narcissistic spouse…., to present as though I was a “drama queen that was DRUNK/druggie,” (b/c I use pain medication for a spinal injury/nerve disorder)!! I am a clinical, forensic, crisis counselor that was horribly embarrassed and scared to finally reach out for help!!! Much to my surprise, I learned that reaching out to law enforcement for assistance for physical/sexual DV was the worst thing I could do in the county I resided in. My report was turned into a “cliche woman faking DV to get an upper hand in a flailing marriage. I’m currently now deemed “disabled” 💔💔💔 as I try to stay optimistic that I can find a cure and regain my professional career that I worked so hard for and was extremely passionate about. I honestly do not know what I would say/do if i was able to resume my clinical MSW career back, and had a female client come to me for support and advisement regarding whether or not…, to seek support from our local law enforcement😣🥺…. As despite having audio recording/photos of injuries…., my spouse was stil able to obtain 50% custody of our children. Despite that he was NEVER a 50% present parent prior to divorce proceedings and when the kids were below the age of 13 & 11, (able to stay home by selves). Despite children not wanting to be with him 50%. Kids asked if they could speak to a judge about their wishes and were informed that adults “knew better what was right for them.” Our GAL met with my spouse day before me. When it was my time to share how he had thrown our son down steps, called him a “shishhead/a**hole when he was only 10/11, picked him up by his neck. Beat me when I picked up his iwatch b/c it apparently had his affair on it and had to be rescued by my son, pulling me into a bathroom to hide me from his father and told his father “to leave the house.” The GAL told me before my butt hit the chair in her office, that there was “nothing I could say or do, to make her change her mind from 50/50 custody.” The GAL then proceeded to wait 8-9 months before first appointment with my children, when it was assured that my spouse had plead down from battery, and took/completed DV courses, so that his criminal case was resolved and could not be brought into the “no fault “ state of WI. Never in my wildest dreams did I believe there was soo much validity to why it “may not be in your best interest “ to report your domestic violence when you reside in a place like Dunn County WI, where my spouse is the boss to a large majority of the Area at Andersen Window💔.
