Anatomy, Protocol and Pathology
Renal artery doppler is a powerful tool for the diagnosis of Renal Artery Stenosis (RAS). One of the more involved exams in the sonographers arsenal, learning the proper anatomy and techniques can make the process a challenging yet pleasurable one.
Indications
Hypertension
Abdominal bruit
Known renal artery stenosis follow up
Elevated BUN and creatinine
Hematuria (Nutcracker Syndrome)

Awesome, good luck!!
@@SonographicTendencies thank you so much!! I was really having a hard time with the Doppler ultrasound. 😭
A nicely done teaching video. Congratulations. At 17:33 you mention Intrarenal branch artery RI of > 0.80 as an indirect sign of main renal artery stenosis.
I would expect low RI with tardus parvus waveforms... something on so around 0.50.
Pls explain.
thank you
Bardzo dobry wykład
Very informative vedio
Thank you this is a great video
You’re welcome
nice job...
Thnku it's amazing
Thanks!

Glad you think so!
thanks u are prof
Thank you!!
You’re welcome
Henry only saw this video recently. Great presentation. 1 question though, if a patient has more than one renal artery is it possible to have a stenosis that can result into hemodynamic significance??
No manejo muy bien l ingles, pero haces tus videos de forma muy entendible, saludos.
Yo creo que voy hacer un canal de estos videos en español
Thumb ups to you.
Somboon Niyutmethakul thanks!
I always take a cineloop with colour Doppler of the renal arteries proving without a doubt no obvious stenosis seen.. Just in case images are suboptimal.
Hi.. is it healthy to have double renal artery? Please I need an answer..I had an anatomy ultrasound for my fetus last week and the tech told me that my baby has two vessels in one kidney.
Greater than 70 ms is tardus parvus (18.02)
Hello. Very nice videos, I like yours lecture :) I have a question. Are you sure, that intrarenal RI > 0,8 is one of criteria of RAS? I thought, that RI should going down, below normal. Greetings :)
You're right an indirect sign is decreased RI in the interlobar renal arteries 5 RI of >0.8 has been suggested as an
indicator of poor therapeutic response to revascu-
larization treatment
Hey Henry I hope you reply can you explain how you write up the worksheet please ? Thanks :)
