Ongelukkig is die woord hoor se dws "skinder". So miskien is dit so of nie.

Maar daar isse onrustige vraag in my agterkop.
My mening en ondervinding. Help my reg as ek verkeerd is.
(Hierdie is 'n persoonlike mening.
I am from Australia and I have been watching unfold over a period of 30 years (my best friend is Afrikaans so he translate for me) A few years ago We went to South Africa and we found quite a few Australians who call South Africa home. The problem with Orania is the Management, it sounds and looks exactly Oranie is managed from the top, so it looks like the case of "I play guitar and you lot dance" My South African friend told me that the Afrikaners has this notion that some are untouchable and can do what they want while the rest of the people scurry around to stay out of trouble. I don't know if it is true, but my SA friend has that in his blood, when we barbeque he takes over and everybody must fall into line and he is very picky on who he talks to or make friends with. Over here he takes me to all of the SA things they organize. And those Afrikaners are the same as my friend. The thing is, Orania is not a Town or a City, it is a Business, If you got no money, you are not welcome there. To call it a Town or a City it must go through the process of Proclamation and as far as that is concerned, I doubt very much that the Governing body will relinquish their power and hand the keys of the Town over to an elected municipality. The place is a business and the people who own the biggest shares will rule, Finito. The fact is as clear as day, the Town fathers/Share holders can at any point rip up the 99 year lease (not sure about the duration) of leasing land in Orania with the intention to living there. The easiest way is to hand out eviction notices, wind the business up and declare bankruptcy, and there is not a thing those house owners can do to stop it, they can even be arrested If they go back after they have been evicted. Now get this, those houses are fixed to the soil and that makes the Town Fathers very rich people you are not allowed to remove that house from that leased plot until they give the go ahead, in writing. Now don't get me wrong, I love the idea, but I will hate the day when there is trouble in SA and the Government in Pretoria declare a state of emergency and they enforce "Unlawful gatherings and it will very easy to declare Orania as an illegal gathering of some right wing conspiracy people. We have the same kind of thing over here, a farmer decides to start a Commune, loads of crazy LBTQ flower people and they go for squatter rights if the farmer decide one day he wants John Doe off his property, so we just hope John Doe lives in a caravan, if he had build a house, it is jut TOO BAD.
Hey, Thunder, your assessment of Afrikaner practise and attitude is *spot-on.* There is a "baas en klaas" (your friend will translate) culture that pervades the "volkie", and sadly, also clusters/cliques that are practically impenetrable. Afrikaners are quick to point to the daring and heroism of the Voortrekkers in their history, but the reality that has plagued them has mostly been the "Dwarstrekkers". Put three Afrikaners in a meeting and you will come up with seven opinions, five of which will be non-negotiable. Until Orania can establish immutable property rights for individuals, regardless of the status of the corporation, it will be a dodgy investment. The very foundation of Orania should be the survival of Afrikaners as a viable nation. As matters stand, Afrikaners will be better off with entities like SBB --- a splinter group from Suidlanders. That alone should give you a glimpse into the lack of unity.
@@dn822 It seems his friend is not "bad" per se, probably odd. They are still friends although their behaviours differ. His friend seems not happy about the Afrikaner's deceitful side.
You keep Orania like it is, you don't need any other group trying to bring down your way of life.

Maar net my persoonlikke opinie.
